Aspiration

Today couldn't have been any weirder. I found myself locked in a battle with a monstrous spider, and then, as if that weren't enough, I was suddenly conversing with what appeared to be a spirit or a demon. What in the world was happening to me?

But the most baffling part was when I turned to my friend Clary, only to see that she was completely oblivious to the purple box floating before us. It was then that I realized I was the only one who could see it. What was going on? Was I losing my mind?

Thankfully, the strange entity, whom I now know as Alan, proved to be incredibly helpful. Without him, I would have been utterly lost in that fight against the spider. I shudder to think of how things might have turned out if I had to drag that monstrous creature all the way back on my own.

All in all, it was a day of confusion and fear, but I can't help feeling a sense of excitement as well. Who knows what other bizarre and incredible things I might encounter next?

The inventory is simply marvelous, a wondrous creation that I can hardly believe exists. Just by laying my hands on the Spider, Alan granted me the incredible ability to transfer all valuable items directly into my inventory. But despite my amazement, I can't help but feel a sense of curiosity lingering within me - where does everything go?

‘Hey Alan, where do all these things disappear to when I store them in the inventory?’

It's amazing to think that I can actually communicate with him without even speaking out loud. My thoughts alone are enough to converse with him.

Anything put in the inventory

I'm completely baffled by what you just said, but sure, whatever. The only thing that matters to me right now is my ability to make things vanish and reappear at will - that's pretty darn amazing. But let's get real here - what I really need is to become more powerful. The [Venom Fang] encounter taught me that much. I need to take down more formidable foes if I want to level up. And that's why I'm headed to the forest to hunt some goblins, but not today. Today, I'm wiped out. I don't have the strength to do anything else.

There's hardly any information available, but at least I can see the level. It's a relief to have something to go by when it comes to assessing threats. I sit up on the cloth I was just lounging on in my room and glance over at Clary. She's still engrossed in that damn book about mana control. How many times has she read it now? Talk about an overachiever, right?

+------------------------------------------+

It would be in our best interest

to analyze that book.

+------------------------------------------+

‘Why bother? It's merely a book about the fundamentals of mana control, and I've already read it a couple of times. What value could it possibly hold for me?’ The sheer thought of revisiting that mundane literature fills me with disinterest and apathy. But if Alan is said so, it must be something I missed.

‘Oh, holy shit! Are you telling me that just analyzing books is enough to acquire skills? What kind of bullshit is this? I mean, seriously?!’

My excitement bubbled over at the thought of gaining knowledge simply by reading books. The mere prospect of getting my hands on a library had me grinning from ear to ear. But Clary's incredulous stare brought me back to reality, making me feel like maybe I was coming across as crazy.

[Basic Mana Manipulation]…

+------------------------------------------+

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Basic Mana Manipulation is an essential skill for any aspiring mage.

This skill allows the user to harness the energy of mana and direct it towards their desired outcome.

With Basic Mana Manipulation, the user can manipulate the properties of mana, such as its intensity, direction, and form.

With this skill, the user can perform a wide range of tasks, such as creating protective barriers, levitating objects, or enhancing their physical abilities.

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Wow... I attempted to move my mana inside my body, and the difference was striking! Previously, it felt like mana was a thick and sluggish liquid, making it challenging to manipulate. But now, it flows like water - so smooth and swift. Despite this, there's one thing that's gnawing at me, causing me unease.

‘Alan, I'm confused. The description claims that this skill can enhance my physical ability, but what's the point if I can already do it without the skill? It's just not adding up for me. Can you shed some light on this’

+------------------------------------------------------------+

It's simple: skills merely facilitate the process.

It is entirely possible to employ

one's abilities independently,

without dependence upon the system.

+------------------------------------------------------------+

‘So this means I could learn to use [Retrocognition] without activating the skill?'

+------------------------------------------+

You are correct.

+------------------------------------------+

It's a relief to realize that I don't have to depend solely on the system, even though it does make life simpler. But now, I must rest. Tomorrow marks the beginning of 'Goblin Hunt,' and I can't afford to let my guard down. Excitement tingles through my veins as I think about the thrill of the chase, and the satisfaction of a successful mission. Heh, heh, I can hardly wait!

Keith's eyes widened with disbelief as he gazed at the treasure trove of loot from the [Venom Fang] spider. He couldn't fathom how on earth I could have acquired such precious items from a D-Rank monster.

"How did you even get these?" he asked, his voice laced with incredulity.

I met his gaze confidently and replied, "I found it injured while hunting deer. The poor creature was helpless and suffering, so I put it out of its misery."

Keith's expression softened at my explanation. Then, I asked him the question burning in my mind, "So, how much are they worth?"

After a moment's hesitation, Keith offered me 30 silver for everything. I knew it was a fair price and eagerly accepted his offer, sealing the deal, and exchanging 1 silver for a long bow.

My heart swelled with pride and satisfaction as I walked away, clutching my hard-earned loot. It was a feeling of triumph that I would never forget.

As I approached the heart of the city, my heart fluttered with excitement at the sight of the bustling streets and countless shops that encircled the giant square. This was the place I had longed to be - the adventurers' guild, home of the quest board. Today, I was on a mission to hunt goblins, a task that had been assigned to me as an F-Rank adventurer. But that was no obstacle, for I was more than ready to take on the challenge.

The reward for the quest may have been meager, a mere 1 silver per 30 goblins, but that didn't deter me in the slightest. For I knew that the true treasure lay in the spoils of the hunt - selling the parts of these vicious creatures was where the real money was to be made. And yet, the real prize was something far greater than mere coin - it was the chance to rank up, to prove myself as a true adventurer and to take on even greater quests.

With this quest, I would have completed six of the required ten F-Rank missions, bringing me ever closer to my ultimate goal. The thought of what lay ahead filled me with a sense of purpose and determination. I would stop at nothing to achieve my dreams, to become the greatest adventurer this world had ever seen. It was time to hunt.

As I perched on the tree, overlooking the green monsters below, a fierce determination burned within me. They wouldn't know what was coming for them. With every fiber of my being reinforced by mana, I readied my bow, knowing I had the power to strike them down.

But, a thought crept into my mind - a new idea I wanted to try out. My fingers tingling with excitement, I focused my energy and channeled it with the power of [Basic Mana Manipulation]. The tip of my arrow glowed a soft blue hue as I coated it with my mana.

A rush of adrenaline surged through me as I let go of the arrow, watching it pierce through the air and hit its mark with deadly accuracy. With a heart-wrenching shock, the arrow didn't just pierce through its skull, but shattered it into a million fragments, leaving behind a devastating sight of destruction.

The unexpected loss of their friend and ally sent shockwaves through the remaining goblins, causing them to panic and frantically scan their surroundings for any sign of their attacker. But it was too late - arrows were already piercing through the air, raining down upon them without mercy.

Yet, amidst the chaos, I discovered a powerful tool at my disposal. With a simple action, I could draw an arrow from my inventory and load it directly into my bow, allowing me to fire at an unbelievable rate. In mere moments, five goblins fell before my swift and deadly aim.

I can't believe it! All that effort for just 50 measly XP. But I have to admit, it was a cakewalk. At least it makes sense, right? Or does it? I don't even know anymore. But whatever. Five of them down, only twenty-five more to go. My heart raced with adrenaline as I followed the tracks of the fallen goblins. Despite their demise, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction - I was one step closer to completing my quest and leveling up.

As I traced their path, my instincts told me that there was a village nearby, a perfect target for my next challenge. I felt a rush of excitement at the thought of facing new obstacles and testing my skills.

With determination fueling every step, I raced towards the direction from which the goblins had come. And then, as if fate had led me there, I stumbled upon the village. My eyes widened with amazement, knowing that this was the moment I had been waiting for.

The thought of taking on this new challenge sent shivers down my spine, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to prove my worth. With my heart pounding and my mind focused, I stepped forward, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

Clary

It had been far too long since Kala had left, and the emptiness of her absence weighed heavily on my heart. But I knew her well enough to understand that when she disappeared, it would be for an extended period. So, with a heavy heart, I tried to distract myself by practicing with my mana, hoping that it would lift my spirits. As I focused on my magic, I felt a sense of excitement bubbling up inside of me. Despite my physical limitations, I took pride in my ability to manifest mana outside my body at such a young age.

I knew Kala, my mentor and friend, had yet to master this feat, and it gave me a sense of purpose and accomplishment. But deep down, I longed for her to return and see how far I had come. With a determined look on my face, I gritted my teeth and tried again, hoping to push myself further.

"Okay, let's try again," I said, my voice laced with determination. I focused on my mana with all my might, pouring all my emotions into it, hoping that somehow Kala would feel it too, wherever she was. Despite the ache in my heart, I pushed myself to improve, hoping that someday I could make her proud.

The mana gathered on the palm of my right hand, coalescing into a brilliant ball of pure light. Excitement surged through me, and I couldn't help but shout out in triumph, jumping up and down in glee. But my elation was short-lived. As I tried to move the ball, the threads of mana connecting it to my hand snapped, and the ball dissipated into nothingness. Frustration coursed through me, and I cursed under my breath. Moving the ball outside my body was proving to be a difficult task. Although the setback left me feeling discouraged, I knew that I had to keep practicing to become a great mage. Nothing was going to stop me, not even this temporary defeat. Kala, my dear friend, had aspirations of becoming an adventurer, and I was determined to prove my worth as her ally. I longed for the day when we could venture out into the unknown together, facing any challenge that came our way. Despite the frustration of the moment, my passion burned bright, and I would not rest until I had achieved my goal.
