Hey there reader. In case you were wondering, this isn't your average story. It is about me after all, a time traveling hero! My name isn't too important right now, considering I'm under attack at the moment, but just know all will be explained later. Now, I guess I should start from the beginning...
It started the day when reality cracked.
I was walking home from school by myself, as usual, when a strange occurrence started to happen to me.
I scowled as I passed the local store from school. I could've sworn I had passed by this store earlier, and I know I wasn't lost either, I thought to myself, glancing over at the parking lot. Nobody is there, not even cars, which struck me as odd.
Ah well, it's probably nothing. I continued my walk home, only for the same thing to happen to me again a couple minutes later.
I stopped walking and looked back at the store. Okay, either the store had multiplied, or I was going crazy.
Guess I'll take a different way back home, I thought to myself as I turned around and went back towards the school, only to find myself back at the store a few minutes later.
I dropped my bag in shock. "Okay, what the hell is going on here!!" I exclaimed, pissed at my current predicament. I took a deep breath and ran like hell.
Lets see what happens if I run, I thought as I sprint as fast as I can. I once again end up in front of the store, with my bag still in the same place I had left it.
So, it really was the same store. I grabbed my bag and walked toward the store. That seemed to be my only option, considering I couldn't leave this weird endless loop.
I walked through the automatic door and got greeted by the person at the counter. I nodded in their direction before going toward the back, near the drinks.
I got a bottle of water and on my way to the counter, grabbed a bag of cookies before paying for it in cash.
I walked back outside and sat down on the curb, opening my bottle of water.
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! I thought to myself as I calmly drank my bottle of water. Drinking about half before I set it down next to me, i opened my bag of cookies and started to think.
Okay, it seems to me that I've gotten myself stuck in either a space or time loop. How or why though is the problem. I guess there is a way to check to see which one I'm in though...
I proceeded to do the loop one more time, this time keeping track of the time by using my phone.
I once again found myself in front of the store, with all my stuff where i left it. I looked down at my phone and sighed.
Well, seems I'm stuck in a time loop then. It seems it sends me back to when I first got here. But, why does my stuff stay here?
I sat back down again and drank a little bit more of my water. I frowned after I drank it. It seemed to be full again. Along with that, it seemed that my cookies were also unopened.
I'm just an ordinary high school kid, albeit smarter than the average highschooler. I didn't really know how such a thing was possible, or why it had to be me who had to be trapped in this thing of all people, but I was going to figure it out, because I really wanted to just go home and enjoy my sister's cooking. After all, whenever a girl cooks for you, it always tastes good. A wise man told me that.
I also found it strange that I was the only one around. Normally, there would at least be a couple of people in store, but besides the clerk, I was the only one. Not to mention the barren parking lot.
I munched on some more cookies before deciding to take a nap. Let's see if time will rewind if I just stay here, were my last thoughts before drifting off to sleep...
And when I woke up, it was the same time, to my disbelief, but instead something new had occurred. A beautiful girl with silver hair was standing next to me, looking straight ahead.
Ugh, damnit! I just wanna go home! I thought to myself as I got up and stretched before turning toward the girl.
"How long have you been standing there?" I asked curiously, hoping I could gleam some clues from her.
"For as long you've been asleep," she said in a flat, unemotional tone. She seemed to be a kuudere of sorts. Never thought I would find the type in reality though...
"Wait, enough of that train of thought, why were you watching me sleep in the first place!?"
"That's because you accidentally got trapped here with me. I had to make sure no civilians are harmed."
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"Wait, so you know that we're in a time loop then?" I asked excitedly. Maybe she does know something then!
She finally turned toward me. Her cold, unemotional yellow eyes were striking, and her expression was blank as she tilted her head slightly.
"How did you know we were in a time loop?"
"I figured it out of course, how else would anyone know?"
A slight look of shock came over her face before returning to its blank expression. "... You don't seem to be a normal civilian," she muttered as she faced forward once again.
"I like to think I'm way smarter than the average highschooler. A genius if you would," I proclaimed proudly, giving her a smile and a thumbs up.
"I don't think that's it all," she replied coldly, disregarding my prideful statement as if it was nothing to scoff at all.
I cleared my throat, slightly embarrassed. "So, do you know how to escape from this time loop?" I asked, hoping for a clear answer.
"I do not," she said simply.
My head lowered in disappointment. "Of course you don't."
"I do not know, because clearing each time loop is different, depending on how they were formed."
Huh? There are different types? She makes it sound as if they're a daily occurrence.
"Okay, so is there a procedure for figuring out the conditions, like in a video game or something?"
In video games, there would sometimes be conditions you had to fulfill before you could beat the level. Although in that case, they would at least tell you the conditions, or leave an obvious enough clue so you could figure it out.
"Yes, there is something like that," she said, nodding her head in agreement. She pointed ahead, where her eyes had been focused on for almost this entire time. "Do you see something there?"
I looked over to where she was pointing. Across from the store, there was a small pond surrounded by a grove of trees. Normally, there would be people playing around the pond and in the park, but there wasn't even that. Then again, this wasn't normal circumstances either.
I looked more closely at the pond, noticing that there weren't even ducks or any sort of animals. The pond also seemed to be glowing as well. I looked up at the sky and saw a small crack over the pond.
"Wait, what the hell? Why is the pond cracking? Can ponds even crack? And it seems to be glowing as well?" This seemed to be going further and further from human understanding.
The silver haired girl started to walk towards the pond, walking at a brisk pace. I scratched my head as I watched her walk away.
Welp, not like I have anything better to do. I put away my water and my half-eaten bag of cookies in my bag and caught up to her, walking next to her.
We crossed the street and reached the railing near the pond. I leaned forward and peered closer to the pond, trying to get close enough so that I could see the bottom.
"I would highly advise against that," the girl warned me in her usual tone.
I turned my head towards her. She was a little ways from the railing, and her body language suggested that she was on guard.
"Why though? I'm just trying to see what's making the pond glow like this. I think I can almost see it," I said casually before looking back.
What happened next was my swift and sudden end in life, or it would've been if it hadn't been for the calm girl standing next to me.
I got yanked back from the water and flew into the street, landing on my ass.
"Ouch, what was that for..." I asked before trailing off, looking shocked.
Right where I originally was, there was a giant fish, with teeth as large as me, chomping at the air where I was.
"Found the target, proceeding to engage with the enemy," She said, leaping back to my side. I looked up to see her eyes turn from yellow to purple, as they also seemed to whir to life, focusing in on the giant fish.
Looking around, I noticed that the sky had gotten a dark red, with cracks forming all around us. It was as if reality itself was trying to tear itself apart at the seams.
"Hey, I don't know if you've noticed, but it seems reality is trying to kill us as well!"
"That's not our concern right now. If we don't beat this giant fish, reality will be the least of our problems."
Huh? What the hell is that supposed to mean? And why am I so calm as well? I shook my head and stood up.
"So all we have to do is beat the giant-ass fish right?" I asked, glaring at the fish that had tried to eat me.
The silver haired girl glanced at me before nodding. "Yes, we have to beat it in 10 minutes to escape here. Otherwise, the real world will be destroyed as well."
A bomb just dropped along with that statement. Or at least it felt that way to me anyway. Real world will be destroyed? So many questions to ask, but I pushed them down to ask the most important one.
"So, how exactly will we beat this thing in 10 minutes?" I asked quietly, balling my hands into a fist.
"Just leave that to me," she said before leaping into action. I decided to stay back and watch for the time being. After all, she didn't seem to be a normal human, at least to my judgement.
"Configure Mode 2547," she declared. Her arm suddenly turned into a small cannon, and she strafed to the right while aiming it at the fish.
She charged up a shot and fired at the fish, who dodged it as it dived back into the pond. How the pond could hold such a giant thing was beyond me. After all, the fish was bigger than the pond itself.
"Tch," She frowned as she leapt up into air, going higher and higher.
Wait, that wasn't exactly right. She seemed to have grown mechanical wings, with purple energy acting as the lift factor for her flight.
She aimed both of her arms down at the pond and merged both of them into a giant cannon. She charged up her cannon until a big purple ball of energy the size of her appeared.
"Fire."
With that single word, she shot it directly at the pond, evaporating all the water in the pond, and hitting the now uncovered fish head on.
BOOOM!
A sudden beam of light erupted from the now empty pond, sending out shock-waves as it pulsed up into the sky. I could only watch in amazement as all this happen. I probably had a dumb look on my face as well.
Soon, the light vanished, and with it, the fish as well. Surprisingly, none of the other surroundings were damaged in the obvious one-sided battle between girl and fish.
Speaking of the girl, here she was now, floating down to the ground like an silver angel of death.
"We should be returning back to the real world momentarily," she said calmly, brushing off dirt from her skirt and clothes as if nothing had happened. Her eyes also returned to the normal yellow they once were.
Sure enough, a moment later, reality continued to crack until it shattered, taking us back to the evening we were once in.
Stunned by all that had happened, the girl looked at me curiously. "May I ask what light in the pond you saw?"
I blinked before realizing she had asked me a question. "Um, couldn't you see it? It was rather bright after all."
She shook her head. "Negative. I was unable to see this light you saw." She seemed to be thinking about something.
"Okay then," she muttered to herself before looking at me again. "I am Model 114141 of the Time Resistance Task Force, pleased to make your acquaintance. If possible, I would like to know your name as well."
"No thanks, I'm good," I said before raising my hand up in defiance. "I don't want to hear anymore about this, thank you!"
Once again, a brief moment of shock overcame her face before returning to normal. "And why is that?"
"Because, I wanna eat my sister's home-cooked meal obviously!"
