Chapter 0: the accident

Summer, the season where every high school student longs for. It’s the perfect season to go out with friends, to the beach for example. That’s what our heroine thought too. Her name is Ayami, Sasaki Ayami. She is a third year student at Aoi Private Institute. At first glance this story may seem like a tragic one. But that is far from the truth …  “This heat is unbearable, I hope they brought some sunscreen with them.” I thought to myself while walking down the road. “Just a few more meters and I should see something.” I’m pretty popular at school for my art, but I’ve never been good at socializing. That’s why I’m going to the beach. Some classmates invited me to come along. Normally I would refuse, but I thought to myself that If i didn’t have enough social skills, It would hinder my work as an artist. Because what kinda artist only stays holed up in her room, painting and drawing all day long only for it to stay in your room and rot there. I wouldn’t want that, hence why I accepted the invitation “I have to take a left turn here.” As I walked out of a street I was greeted by a beautiful view of the ocean. “I could really make a nice painting out of this view.” I thought to myself, as I walked down a crossroad. But that thought only lasted for so long. While I was mesmerized by the beautiful view of the ocean, I forgot to pay attention to look before crossing. As I was walking down the crossroad, A car at full speed was heading in my direction. The driver not paying attention at the road only saw me at the last second. As I heard a loud honk I quickly looked to my left. But by then it was already too late... BAM! Everything went black for a second, and the next moment I was on the ground. I was confused and I didn’t know what was going on. I tried to move but my legs wouldn’t. “It hurts.” I thought to myself. “Why me?” As I slowly began to lose consciousness. I heard someone shout to me, it was a manly voice. He was screaming if I was OK, but I couldn’t react. The only thing I could think about what was happening to me. “Am I going to die?” I asked myself. If so it was a short but good life, still I would have loved to live just a bit longer. I wanted to make more paintings and show them to the world. I slowly closed my eyes. And the moment I opened them, I heard people talking. They were rushing past me with all kinds of equipment. I saw someone in a strange blue attire. He blurred out something to me but the only thing I could make out from it was: “Are you … Do you have any … Just take it easy.” I was confused but everything hurts too much to think. As I was being carried to somewhere I slowly began to lose consciousness again. When I woke up again I was in a strange room, I was lying in a hospital bed. I looked to my left, there was a pot with flowers in them, Roses to be exact. I wanted to get out of bed only to realize I couldn't. My legs were encased in a thick plaster, unable to move. I tried to stay calm and realize my situation, but that was abruptly broken by the sound of something moving. I quickly looked to my right, there was a curtain separating me from something. I could vaguely see something behind the curtain. It looked like a person, it looked like he was moving abruptly, but I couldn’t make out what was going on over there. “There is only one way of finding out.” I thought to myself. I slowly grabbed the curtain, preparing myself for what I was about to see. In one clean swipe I pulled the curtain to the side. I was greeted by the sight of a boy, sitting sideways on his bed looking straight at me with a smug face. “Whatcha in for my lady?” He said.
