A Vision’s End

Deltus eyes’ moved across the battlefield, as he watched for the movements of the two human interlopers. It seemed as if the fact that battles never stayed in a constant state was exemplified here… While the attack from the white-haired human’s weapon wasn't all that damaging, over time, it may end up being an issue. How he would handle this issue was the question here. And one he would need the answer too sooner than later.

A stream of holy energy streaked from Ogun’s barrels once more, and the general leaped to avoid them, but it seemed that Mazurus was prepared for this, as he changed the cannon’s angle to follow the general’s path, forcing him to shift to the right, which left him in a position to be cut by a swipe from Alarick, and Bui’s chakrams digging into his torso. In short time, he rounded upon the blonde, slamming a fist into his gut, and launching him into Bui, sending them both flying into the distance. With that much achieved, he was ready to go for the third. The sight of the rapidly approaching general was in Mazurus’ eyes, and he was not exactly willing to let himself be attacked.

The slayer heaved his holy arm from the ground, and leaped backward, letting the demon’s fist slam into the ground below him, pulverizing it, and causing the ground around them to shake. The second strike wasn’t avoided so easily, and he felt a cracking sound from within his torso, as a barrage of fists began to break him from the inside-out… As Bui noted this, he took action immediately, sending his chakrams toward the demon once more, which thankfully, made him break off his attack, and get out of the way. But it seemed this was not without consequence, as the demon shot a stream of blood toward him, knocking him off his feet. Just behind Deltus, Alarick shot over the ground below them, ready to bisect him with the dimension-slicing void blade. But this much would not happen, as the demon leaped over his attack, and backward, with an uncanny amount of agility. As his eyes began to look over his shoulder, the sight of five knuckles filled his view, and he found himself tunneling into the ground by the force of the strike that fell.

“His strikes are damaging, and it looks like ours are doing nothing… If we can drain enough of his blood, he won’t be able to use those attacks as freely, limiting his choices, but therein lies the issue, how can we do so in this context. He knows that's what I’ll go for… I’ll need to confer with those two, put our heads together, and see what we can think of.” The blonde shot from the ground below, and began to scan the battlefield once more, to see just what had changed. The two had apparently regrouped in his absence, that much was good, it saved him time, And the general himself stood opposite to them. Apparently, gearing up for another attack, if his body language was anything to go by. Alarick made his way over, landing to the two’s right.

“I’m sure you both have the same idea on how to eliminate him, especially given what he uses as a form of attack.” Alarick stated, as he glanced over.

“Turn this into a battle of attrition and destroy him over time, of course, but even with the three of us, I think we’d be hard pressed to do that…” Mazurus responded. They needed to think of something, and quick, as he saw it. There was too much at stake if they lost this battle. The terran 7 were known fighters for a reason, and those who were in the demon realm now, aside from the Council, stood as the strongest slayers, if they were to fall here, then the effects would be devastating. Alarick knew this well, and he began trying to think of anything he could.

“In the end, I am my father’s son… I am a strategist, and I CAN figure something out.” He began combing over what they’d experienced in this battle, and something came to mind…

“In our situation, cutting attacks are best, they further limit his attempts to use those blood attacks, blunt force seems to do very little… White-haired one, could you distract him with your holy arm, and let him attack with his chakrams?” While some part of Mazurus wanted to correct the Von Zaisen’s aptly given nickname, he pushed that aside from now.

“That could work… And if you hit him with that void blade technique of yours, that’ll end the battle.” Mazurus responded.

“Then let’s put that into practice now, here he comes!” Bui shouted. In short time, the two noted the general flying toward them, leading to them leaping from their spots. Attempting to give the slayers at least some time, Alarick shot forth to meet the demon’s charge. But as he had last time, he retreated when the demon’s fist shot out, narrowly avoiding it. But in a short time, he found the other large hand taking hold of his leg, halting his escape. Before he knew it, he’d been lifted over Deltus’ head, and slammed into the ground, released subsequently. But the demon did not stop there, forming two fists, and beginning to strike the downed human time and time again, tens of punches landing in fractions of a second. Alarick’s frame shook time, and time again, as the devastating impacts damaged him more, and more.

But relief was to come soon. On the crest of a hill, overlooking the battlefield, with his holy arm, and its many barrels, aimed at the Demon As he began pushing more of his demonic energy into the barrels, a light continued to build on their surface. Glowing brighter, and brighter as time went on. But he did not fire, just yet. He’d do all the damage he could, if this plan failed, then the effects would be devastating. He made micro adjustments, making sure he hit his target, and not the one under him.

“It’s time… RAZE, OGUN!” Rather than a burst of what was essentially machine gun fire, what flew forth was a sphere of holy energy, which zipped across the sky and slammed into the side of the demon’s torso. A wave of pressure flew outward, as an explosive bubble spread from the contact, this much caused the demon to stop his attack, as blackened patches of skin appeared.. Though the damage done was not deadly, it was certainly nothing he could ignore. His pummeling of Alarick stopped, if only for a moment, as a burst of blood flew across the landscape, and slammed into the Mazurus…. Leaving a gaping hole, where his chest used to be.

As this took place, the youth’s movements had stalled… That couldn’t be. Was this how it ended, He wouldn’t even live to see if they’d reach victory? As his body began to fall limp, and he landed on his back, his mind drifted. To both the challenges he’d faced in the past, the ones that had led him to the enemy capital, and to his comrades. Especially his two friends… Volker was still fighting somewhere, without a doubt, as were Saka, Ayaka, and Bui was… Standing directly above him.

“Mazurus…” The slayer looked down upon him. The light in his eyes was rapidly expiring, and if the hole in his chest was anything to go by… The very clear sorrow in the man's expression was noted, even as his vision blurred, and even blackened time and time again. But there’d be a lot more at stake if he got distracted at this stage.

“Bui… Not now. I’ve created the right opportunity for you two to finish it off. Act upon it… If you wish to grieve, then do it after you’ve won…” Some part of Bui wanted to say something back in response, but, something deep down told him his ally was in the right in this case. There was something he needed to do. Bui only nodded, as he turned his back, and began manipulating his holy arms once more. Pushing more and more of his demonic energy into them, they began to grow in size, as the blades grew sharper. The revolutions sped up, and the demon found four new gashes appearing across his body, then eight, as they returned to strike him once more.

“Mazurus, Your sacrifice won't be in vain” His body, though battered, could continue to fight, and as such, that was what he would do. Deltus, however, did not seem content to let his attack continue, and he flashed through the sky, coming closer to the slayer by the moment.

“This makes no difference, you will all die here! For the new world!” The amount of Chakram’s only increased as the slayer summoned more holy energy from within, continually sending them toward the general, who himself, began to quickly shift his direction, his angle, in order to avoid any more strikes from landing. If he couldn’t use his ranged attacks, that was fine. His fists were more than enough to demolish the obstacles that stood in his path. But it seemed as if his charge wouldn’t go unabated for long, as a beam descended upon him from above, something akin to an orbital laser, that stopped the creature in his tracks. The general looked to the sky above to see just who had decided to act as an interloper… It was another denizen of this realm, one he knew well, a gigantic wyrm-like demon loomed overhead, Gusion…

“You show your face now of all times, and as a traitor?!” Deltus questioned. And yet, the one he addressed only looked down upon him with the same expressionless eyes.

“Traitor? No… Traitor implies that I was ever on your side…” Yet another obstacle here to stop him. But strangely enough, he did not continue to attack Deltus, slithering through the sky, and raining down rays of Demonic energy from his maw. Reinforcements, who’d come to relieve Zylsis’ defenders, found themselves obliterated by the attacks, and if not from that, from his presence alone forcing their bodies to begin undergoing DEMED, Reducing them to particles flowing in the air. But it seemed that Deltus would not have much time to think about this, nor the effects it may have had on his future empire, as, rising out of the ground below, just under his nose, was Alarick Von Zaisen, with the darkened blades of light the General was wary of, surrounding his hands.

“Void Blade: Killing Flash!”

In a few short moments, Alarick began running the length of the blade across the demon’s body, one swipe turned into two, and two, into ten, hundreds of swipes cleaved through his opponent in milliseconds, but even so, the blonde kept going. While the general himself could do nothing, as it seemed that even his vision itself had been cut. His body split into chunks of carrion that had disintegrated into the same red light, Marking the general’s end…

The void blades disappeared, as Alarick fell to one knee, clutching the side of his torso, huffing, as he looked around, to the sky, where the one known as Gusion now wreaked havoc, and to the two slayers in the distance.

“A strong opponent… If those three hadn’t arrived, who knows if I would've been able to eke out that victory.” A question he wouldn’t have to answer, thankfully. The general was dangerous, no doubt, but could he have been able to change how he went about bringing his ideas to fruition? He doubted it, but if that were the case, maybe this end wouldn’t have been necessary.

Elsewhere, Bui kneeled by his deceased friend’s body, closing his eyes as he placed his palms together, and bowed his head slightly.

“I’ll make sure you get a proper burial, once we return to Earth….” The fact that there would be deaths was not unknown to him. But even so, this was an old friend, and it came to little surprise that some tears dripped from his eyes, though he stayed silent as they did. He couldn't dwell on this, not when there were other things they needed to attend to, especially if they wished to reach victory. Their forces' victory in battle would mean nothing if they were not able to eliminate the enemy's strongest, after all..
