It has been 10 minutes yet the waves outside the cafe still flowing around, blocking them from getting out of here.

Syd Barrett glared out through the glass, it seems like Rachel's words are true.

Somehow, the only surface that turns into this strange waves is the airport's main walkway.

The area in the private room or the other places that have something to block it from the outside like a glass wall or a door or a window ( to split them as a section) won't get affected by it.

There's a group of people stuck in the bag shop on the opposite side too, they can't get out. Just like them.

“ This is bullshit! We are cut off from the outside. We don't even know what will happen to them... But they must have known that something happens...”

Syd is fretful as hell, he's keeping biting his nails and looking outside.

“ Brat. You don't see anything outside the surrounded area?”

“... I see the heat from people... But... It is too far... But I think they already knew something is wrong...”

Sally said.

“ There must be some way to solve this fucking thing.”

While Syd is using his brain, Jody who's been quiet for a while stood up from the couch and walked to him.

“ Syd, Sally I have something to speak with you guys.”

.

.

.

.

.

.

“ Syd. I have a feeling...that those groups of people... Some of them are not what they said they are.”

Jody confidently stated.

“ Really? Are you sure about that?”

Syd gazed his eyes to the other 5 strangers, then back to Jody.

“ Don't you feel it?”

“ Yes. Of course, I'm very cautious about anything during a mission. I don't trust them. But too much cautious isn't good either, so I dismiss it.”

Syd gazed back to them again.

“ So... Jody...You are saying... That either 1 of them... 2 of them...or even all of them involved with that flooding concrete outside?”

Jody nods.

“.... I see....”

Syd turned back and about to shouted something at them, suddenly, Jody rapidly grabbed his arm, stopping him from doing that.

“ What?”

“ Syd. Be cool. Do you know what they see you right now? Have you ever watched movies about a group of people sticking in one place before?”

“ Uh. Yeah, and?”

“ You are now like that annoying punk who acts aggressively towards everything. Plus, If they found out you have a pistol...you're screwed. You know what will happen if they see you bring a weapon to the airport, right?”

Those words made Syd thinks.

“... You got a point...”

Syd agrees with her.

“ But do you really think I will let them touch me as you do?”

He asked.

“ No. But that police probably do. We don't really know if they are actually the “Real” policeman or not... But let's ‘assume’ they are. They have a right to search your body and you can't do anything with that. If you refuse, they'll put up chains on you. And your manner will surely lead them to do that, you know what I mean? ”

Jody looked straight into his eyes.

“......”

“.........”

“.............”

“ Jody...I agree with your statement. All of them. But we can't just sit our asses here and wait for them to show up.”

Syd glares the a clock hanging up on the ceiling at the front door.

“ Fuck... It's been half and hour...”

“ Let me handle this.”

“ ?! What?”

He asked again.

“ You heard it.”

She replied.

“.....”

He can't read Jody. But one thing Syd can confirm right now was the fact that Jody has something in her mind that only she knows it.

“ Okay... But If it went wrong. We'll go to plan B.”

“ Plan B? You mean to start some shoot out?”

Syd smirks and nods.

Jody releases Sally from her hand, the kid knows what to do, she quickly runs to Syd and hugs his leg tightly.

“ Brat. Help Jody. Keep scanning the people in here. If you saw anything wrong. And I mean anything. Tell me, you got that?”

Sally quickly nods.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Jody walked straight to someone. It was Amy, the cafe's employee.

“Hey.”

?

Amy turns her face to Jody.

“Yes?”

“ How long have you been here. May I ask again?”

“ Oh. Around 2 weeks.”

Amy answered.

“ I see... Which part of Philly did you come from?”

“ South. You?”

“ I'm north. But It pretty amazed me. You can know where I'm from just by my accent.”

Jody said.

“ Of course, we're from the same home. Umm, but your boyfriend's accent sounds like northern American. Are you guys from the same place?”

Jody shook her head.

“ No. No. He's Australian.”

“ Ah, Australian...” Amy nods.

Jody is up to play the role of Syd's girlfriend completely.

“ By the way, I'm sorry for my boyfriend's rudeness. I'm so sorry, that's his nature. But right now he's kinda hungry but he wouldn't tell you you know?”

Amy then chuckles, she replied.

“ I know. I know. He's cute though. His mind and his mouth don't go the same way, right?”

Jody smiled a little.

“ Yeah. You can say that. And I think he can no longer bear his hunger for more than 20 minutes. So I wanna know if this place has a popular menu? Or recommend one? I'll order it for him later.”

“ Oh... I see....”

Amy then whips out a menu sheet.

While that, Jody Johanson carefully observed what Amy would do.

“ I'll recommend you a...uh, how about this Rosemary Chicken sandwich and a cup of coffee?”

“.......”

“...........”

“.................”

“Isn't there anything else than that? Like something you're forced by the owner to recommend it to the customers no matter what? No?”

“.... Uh”

Amy obstructed.

“ No, sir...”

She said. Still, Jody asked again but with a more serious tone of voice.

“ Not even the manager?”

“......”

Amy paused,

“ Miss, What are you trying to ask me?”

They stare at each other.

“.....”

“.......”

“...........”

“ Nothing.”

Jody took out her purse, took out her money, and placed it on the table.

“ Bring it to him in like 10 minutes after this. Don't give a damn about his words. Just put it there.”

“ Okay, miss.”

Jody then walked to the police officers who were watching over everyone in this place on the frontline.

“ Hey. What are your names again?”

“ I'm Brad.”

“ Brad? Just Brad?”

The policeman sigh.

“ Sgt.Brad Olden. That's my name.”

Jody then offered him a handshake.

“ I'm Jody. I'm so sorry for my boyfriend's rudeness towards you. He's kinda into politics. He thinks all police are the same. It won't happen again, I'll watch over him.”

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“ You should.”

Brad replied, shaking hands with her.

“I have put many punks him in jail. And I hope I won't put him in this time.”

“ I'm sorry sir.”

“I hope he can get at least half of you. I'm Sam, Sgt. Sam Jackson.”

The policewoman shook her hands.

“ Sgt. Sam Jackson? How long have you guys being paired?”

Asked Jody.

“ a week, I'll say. What's wrong?”

Sam gazed her eyes to Jody.

“ No, no... Nothing...just... It doesn't sound like you at all... Sgt.Brad”

She said.

“What do you mean? Huh? Do I know you?”

Brad asked in confusion.

“......”

Jody Johanson walked near him, she moved her face closer to Brad.

“.....”

“.........”

“...............”

“ Hmm, No...”

She continued,

“ I see you guys didn't report the situation to your boss, Is it safe to assume that your radio signals were cut off like our phone?”

“.... Yes. That's the first thing we did when those things popped out. But I'm sure our police friends would probably realize the situation by now. They will come in soon. While that, we'll protect you all, in case something happens.”

Officer Brad suggested.

Jody walked back and left them to Rachel, who's sitting in panic in the middle of the place.

She manages to sit next to the tanned girl, she has a rose tattoo on her shoulder.

“ Nice, tattoo, miss.”

“ Oh! Thanks... I uh, I got this while I was in Cambodia.”

Rachel put down the coffee and turns to Jody.

By observing her, Rachel is the most energetic person in this cafe. And probably, the most reliable one.

But that didn't suggest she should trust her.

“ You said you were a tourist, why did you come here? To have a vacation?”

“ Y...Yeah... I've come here to meet my friends...but...I'm not sure if we can get out of here...”

Rachel said in a sad tone of voice.

“ The airport must have done something right now.”

said Jody.

Rachel smiles a little.

“ I guess so...heheh...”

“ So... Your friends are all Britains?”

“ Well, most of them are...”

Jody taps her shoulder. She left Rachel and stared at Mike, the cleaner.

This person is so isolated and he doesn't want to talk to anyone.

Plus he shows an obvious sign that he doesn't like Syd, Her, and Sally.

That's understandable because he was about to jump in the fight with Syd.

So Jody won't bother. She returns back to Syd.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

15 minutes later.

The frustration was shown on the boy's face as he glared to Jody.

They talked to each other with the lowest voice possible.

“I don't understand what you're doing more than going around...talking to people...about how shitty I am. Huh?”

“ Oh, you heard it?”

“ I hope I didn't.”

“ Don't get mad at me yet.”

Jody said, she turns to Sally.

“ Sally, You see anyone shows a suspicious sign? Like their body temperature suddenly rise? ”

“.....”

“ ... Everyone is all similar but...there are 2 people who are distinguished...”

Sally said.

“ Who are they?”

Sally then whispered to Jody.

“.......”

“.... Hmm...um... I see...”

Jody grins out a little.

“ Are you going to use the body heat to tell if someone is lying? I didn't think that'll help us at all, mate. Everybody is scared of the situation...They are all panic...”

“ You ain't wrong,” Jody said,

“ But I assured. it is enough to help me detect the liars.”

“......”

“...........”

Syd Barrett twisted his eyebrows.

“ Jody... You need to explain to me right now. What the Fuck are you doing? Don't it'd be better if we help each other? ”

“ It sure is.”

“ Then why you still keep it to yourself? Did you spot something weird?”

“ Probably...”

“ So then just fucking tell me what's that??”

“ ... Not yet.”

“..... Why?”

“ Because you'll start a shootout as soon as I tell you.”

“ Woah....”

Syd paused.

“ So... There is really a rat?!”

His eyes widened. His body reacts by pulling out his pistol but Jody stops him rapidly.

“ Don't worry... You'll get there,”

She continued.

“...But we can't do anything yet.”

Syd slowly releases his hand from the pistol.

“....”

“ See? This is why I don't tell you now. Syd, I want you, just this once, to do as I say. what we do here now...is waiting. The enemy may have the advantage, but overall it belongs to us. Thanks to you, Syd. Because you had already shown them you distrust them. You are forcing the enemy to make a move. And I'm so sure they need to make a move as quickly as they could.”

“ So... There is really someone hidden among them...and you want me to...wait?”

The boy said.

“To lure them out of the hole, We must. Right now they are under pressure... Furthermore, If they are smart enough. They should have noticed that I know something about this place which they don't.”

Jody claims.

They both looked at each other. Syd Barrett then glares to the other people with a visible extreme level of cautiousness.

“ I don't like this at all... It's like they got their muzzles on our throat...”

He said.

“ Please trust me. Just this once.”

“ Jody... You know this is a serious mission right?”

“......”

“...........”

Syd stares right into Jody's eyes and he was pushed back by the intense menacing eyesights of hers. Meaning she's also serious too.

“ Okay... I understand what you are trying to show off. But Can it be another topic that isn't this??”

“.......”

Jody still not reply to him, instead, she still radiating a menacing aura.

“......”

“ Let just say I won't pull up a pistol and start fucking up this place. Is there any other reliable reason for you not to tell me any single thing?”

“ Yes. The less you know, the more the enemy would dare to make a move. Trust me, Syd, I know you are talented. But if it comes to acting, You suck.”

Jody stated.

“ So... You're saying... I couldn't keep a poker face If you tell me the person you are suspecting?”

“ Yes.”

Jody said, sitting her legs crossed. Then asked,

“ And you don't want to fail the objective right?”

“......”

“ Then follow my plan. Just this time. And Sally.”

“ Y-Yes?...”

“ About the people, you saw them heats distinguished, Don't tell him who they are unless you want them to take you back, understand?”

“ 😰 ”

Sally was shaking.

“.... Fine Jody... Just this once. That I'll follow your lead. And let's see If it's going to screw up or not.”

Syd said with sarcasm in his voice.

Around 5 minutes ago, At the bar.

While Amy was preparing what Jody had ordered around 15 minutes ago, there's something important happening at the corner of the cafe. But not everybody saw it.

It's the wavering floor.

Start by just a dot, and slowly expanded into a small area in the size of a ground plate, it then began to move forward in the shadow, from table to table, slowly approaching Syd Barrett from the other side of the room.

And another important thing is... While Amy was turning her face away to refill the coffee beans...

SOMEONE walked passed the counter...and tossed a green pill on the sandwich plate...the pill melts as it touches the bread and sinks down into it as nothing happens...

.

.

.

.

.

“ Sorry for making you waiting, sir.”

The woman's voice coming from his aside, as Syd turns back, she was Amy the Cafe's employee.

“ What the... What do you want?”

He stepped back, scanning her. She was carrying a tray of chicken sandwich and a cup of coffee.

Amy held back her chuckle at Syd's weird habit,

“ It's your girlfriend's order, sir. She ordered it for you.”

Syd turns his face to Jody, she nods down, he then turns back to Amy.

After Amy put down the tray, she was about to walk back but Jody stopped her.

“ Wait a second.”

“.......” Amy turns back and glares at Jody,

“ Yes, Sir?”

“ Where's the set of cream and sugar? ”

“......”

“ Excuse me, Sir?”

“ I remembered ‘Winfrey’ always gave her customers a set of free sugar and cream to them... That's a very strict rule for this place.”

Jody looked back at Amy.

“ Oh my. You know Winfrey?”

She asked in surprise.

“ Not quite. But at least I know she must be one of the most strict employers you've ever worked with.”

Amy chuckles,

“ Yes, hahaha...”

“ Anyway, where's Winfrey? If I remember correctly, she always staying around her place.”

“ Miss Winfrey is out to check up the stocks. She would come back in this evening.”

“ Oh... I see...”

At that moment, Syd whispered to Jody.

“ Who the fuck. Is Winfrey?”

The boy doubts. And it was resolved as Jody pointed her finger to the Cafe's sign above Syd's head.

It says ‘Winfrey's Cafe’

“ Oh... So she's the owner.”

“ I thought he'd like a black coffee, So I didn't put anything in it. But If you want, sir, I can get it for you.”

“ No.No... No need.”

Syd answered before he picked up the sandwich and lent it to her.

“ Sir?”

“ Eat it.”

Said the boy.

“ Excuse me?”

“ Go for it. Take a bite.”

“ W-what?”

“Go for it.”

Syd added the seriousness in his voice.

“ I can't eat the customer's food! That's prohibited! ”

“ But I allow you.”

“.....”

“ Count this as a customer service.”

The boy repeated his point.

“ Sir... I've never done this...haha...It'll be trouble for me If miss Winfrey knows...”

“Then Don't tell her.”

“.....”

By his opinionated, Amy decided to cut him off.

And right now, her voice is no chill.

“ Sir, It's the rule. Winfrey doesn't allow the waiters to eat the customer's food. alright? Just ask your girlfriend over there.”

“......”

“ That's right...” Jody shortly replied to her.

“ And Winfrey can check the security camera footage later. And I'll be in trouble if she found out even I have your consent.”

“ Just a bite. Take it. I'll pay you 10$”

Syd started to get some nerve.

“ A rule is a rule.”

“ This BITC--”

Suddenly, Mike, the cleaner appeared behind Amy's back.

“ Mister. You're forcing her. You know that?”

Mike said with a threatening voice, he gently pulled Amy behind him.

“Huh? What are you? Do you want to be a gentleman?”

Syd asked back.

“ You are being a punk. Do you even have a shame? She doesn't want to do that.”

“And What does it has to do with you?”

“ It has nothing to do with me, Sir. But You, alone, have something to do with all of us here. The moment you came in here, you started being a thug. And I'm sick of it.”

“ Oh, Really?”

“ Yes. You're threatening everyone with that poor manner of yours.”

“ But Did you see I hurt anyone though?”

“ S-Stop it! You two...”

Amy puts herself between the men, trying to spread those 2 away.

“ Fine! Fine... I will do as you say. But please don't start a fight! ”

Suddenly, Mike taps his hand to Amy's shoulder.

“ No need to follow this punk's order. He can't control anything here. Plus we have those cops still watching over us.”

Said Mike.

“ But If you want this to be settle....”

Mike grabs Syd's sandwich and takes a big bite.

Gulped.

“ I don't know why you wanted her to do this. But Now I did it instead of her. Now stop being a fucking aggressive dick head. What are you? A 6-year-old child?”

As Mike called Syd a “Child”, a big fist was being landed on his right cheek, sending Mike flying over the desk.

[ Amy's scream going all over the place, alerting the two policemen that Syd had punched Mike in the face ]

Needless to say, he's being charged by the policemen.

Although those two trying to push him against the ground, it took them almost of their energy just to make him kneel down.

“ Fuck, You cops shit!! ”

Jody and Sally saw that too, they are about to join the scenario to help Syd however...

AT THAT EXACT SAME TIME.

They heard a noise... from the outside.

“ FUCK! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!”

“ What the...”

Syd, Jody, and Sally, together with others turning their faces to the direction they heard the sound.

.

.

.

.

.

[To the present]

“FUCK! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! ”

A loud noise of a man coming from the outside of a cafe.

Everyone including Jody's group turns their faces to the outside.

They saw a man on the opposite sidewalk slamming the door opened.

Seeing that as the more emergency situation, the police released Syd Barrett and walked to the front door.

Brad slightly opened the cafe's door and shouted at him.

“ Sir! I suggest you stay right where you belong! The help is on the way! ”

“ Shut the fuck up!” Says the man, “ You fucking cops ain't do nothing! I'm gonna get the fuck out of here and you can't tell me what to do!”

Although the people over there tried to stop him, he managed to jump out and tried to swim on the wavering floor, however... As his attempt to swim in this thing for 5 meters had come to, at last, he got harshly pulled down by something under the surface, Disappearing forever.

One can tell it's not sinking.

He is being dragged down by something.

The picture is disturbing. Both sides of people are traumatized at the event that reminds them of what will happen if they step out.

“ That bastard's ability... It's not just to turn the floor into the water... But there's something more than that...”

Said Syd,

“ ...The chance of survival after falling into that thing is 0. When my finger touched it, There was an incredible amount of force trying to pull me down...”

Jody added, Turning to see everybody else's reaction, As expected, Everybody is shocked at it.

“......”

Rachel is the most obvious one, she covers her mouth with her hands, eyes freezing.

Mike, although he is the quietest guy, his eyes are telling her that he is also shocked at it.

The police are stunned the same as Amy.

“... Shit...as expected... It was like a goddamn shark swimming around us...fucking stupid prick.”

Syd said in frustration.

“ Brother...why did you do that?”

Sally asked.

“ That fucker diss me. And he got what he fucking deserved. What's wrong with that?”

“ No... I think Sally means why did you ask her to take a bite of your own sandwich. I mean, you even afford to pay her.”

Jody asked.

“In case she or the enemy poisoned the sandwich or this coffee. We should be cautious.”

Said Syd.

“ Very clever, Syd,” Jody said, pointing to mike who is now resting on the opposite side of the place and Rachel is taking care of him.

“ But Mike is still fine over there.”

“ Alright you win, Jody...you win this time. I probably being paranoid...”

He doubted.

“ You're being too cautious. And It'll make your head explode.”

“ I'm not hungry though. Why did you order me this shit? But nevermind.”

Syd Barrett brings the sandwich near his mouth, he opened his mouth and was about to take a bite...but then...

BWUAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

While the old incident hasn't even ended yet, the new one occurs.

It was from Mike.

He severely pukes out gallons of blood on to the floor.

That picture shocks everyone in the cafe.

Everybody does nothing but keeps staring at him in confusion.

What is happening to Mike?

Why did he vomit out blood?

Mike collapsed down on the floor by his knees, he tried so hard to push himself up the ground but...

BWWWUAAAAHHHH !

As another load of the blood coming out of his mouth, his eyes completely froze, he crawled to a random direction. Once he touched the table, he tried to use it as a holder to lift his body up... But no use...

Jody quickly glared back to Syd, thanks to him he's holding the sandwich in the position that it shows what's under the bread to her.

“ SYD! The sandwich! ”

Jody recognized that under the sandwich has a little weird green color.

She immediately knows it should be the sandwich.

She quickly used the air bullet to shoot the sandwich out of his hand, ripping it off into pieces.

Luckily, it was the same time Syd Barrett quickly drops the sandwich as Jody shouted at him...so basically, The sandwich was destroyed in the mid-air.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

The last load coming out of Mike's mouth, Although 90% of his throw up is full of red liquid, there's still a bit of food mixing with it.

Rachel screams in fear.

Mike has no more force to move himself to anywhere, he struggles like a living fish in the desert until his last breath...

In the end, Mike's body stops moving, he lays his body&face down to the floor... Dead.
