A group of adventurers returned from clearing a bandits camp. Triumphant they headed back to the town which had employed them. Then they saw a figure standing on the road. It had a small stature and wore a funny hat. One of the adventures pointed said to the others:
'Hey look, a jester!’
The figure answered:
‘I’m no Jester, I am a Nur’.
Then it started chanting. A hellish sound filled the ears of the adventurers. The Nur's eyes glowed red.
Before the adventurers could do something their minds were filled with vile and wrenched visions. They quickly lost consciousness and fell in a nightmarish coma. One saw her limbs rot as insects crawled their way out of her skin, while crows pecked at them.
Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.
Another saw loved ones get tortured by goat and swine-like looking creatures. As his loved ones screamed for help, the victim remained unable to move or speak.
Some say they got lucky. Victims always loose something to the creature. There are reports of magical weapons, or mechanical parts that were missing, but sometimes even limbs and intestines are taken. Though the wounds would be neatly stitched and cleaned. No one has ever lost their life due to an encounter with the Creature, but there are those who blame it for the loss of their child.
It is believed the Nur is just a some crooked thief, others say it is an evil spirit spawned from the abuse of jesters or some minion serving a higher purpose.
Just, don’t trust Jesters on the road.
