I side-stepped several times to avoid the razor sharp front leg of a giant insect covered in blue carapace. As you can guess, I am fighting against an Antlion right now.
However, unlike the one I fought before, this guy is much smaller in size and slower. It only possessed 3 pair of wings and it couldn’t use Ice Spike at all. When I used ‘Beast Identify’ on it, I understand the different.

The Name, Race, and Level changed except the element that it possessed. It seemed that monster are able to evolve into a greater specie within its own race. This guy isn’t the second Antlion that I had seen. As a matter of fact, I have defeated dozen of these guy, and I can see variety of them from Fodder Antlion, Antlion, Great Antlion, Greater Antlion, High Antlion and Elder Antlion arranged in order by their level.
Well, even I don’t use ‘Beast Identify’ on them, I can see the different from their size and pair of wings. However, I come across a certain fellow. Unlike the other, its whole body is covered in green carapace, and it was eating an Elder Antlion. I avoid fighting it because ‘Beast identify’ couldn’t bring out any information, not even the name. Everything was in question mark, and I felt shiver looking at it. I remembered reading about the usage of ‘Beast Identify’ and when it wouldn’t work.
For instance, if the level of the monster is 50 higher than the user, the HP and MP is in question mark. If the level of the monster is 100 higher than the user, the element and level would be blocked in question mark as well. And when it reached higher than 150 in level, you wouldn’t be able to see anything at all.
And so it mean that fellow clad in green jade-like carapace with 7 pair of wings and 3 horns on its head is a rare monster! That’s definitely a rare monster. You know, the type of special monster that bounded in a certain location or you have to complete certain condition for it to appear in the game. THAT KIND OF MONSTER!
That realization made my gamer instinct boiled, and I wanted to jump in and engage that monster in a fist fight. However, I refrained myself from doing it. Why? You say?
I’m still my noble clothes when I got transferred to this place. I still fight normal Antlion with my fist, and I risked dying several times. I don’t have any proper equipment and I’m still have detestable white hair-

This hair really wouldn’t go away. I got mad and irritated whenever I see my own hair. Amano-chan and Amane-chan are going to hate me. NO! Anyone is fine, make my hair black again!

“YOU JUST SHUT UP!”
The monster swung its claw toward me, I used my qi to change the trajectory of the front leg. The front leg swung down with all its might, and it chopped off its own leg.
*Screech*
Toppling down on the ground as it frantically move and swinging down its front legs, I side-stepped and ducked those attack without any injury. After fighting these guy, I can very much understand all its attack pattern. Well, studying the joint on its front leg, it was already possible to understand the movement of the monster. Since its body was covered in hard carapace, the movement is also limited.
The monster frantically attack while I crazily avoid it. People might see it as beginner’s luck, but I already grasped that monster’s complete movement. I can avoid them instinctively while closing my eyes, but I don’t want to do that. Antlion’s face is really nasty. If I happened to dodge and move close to its face, I might faint.
*Roar*
The monster used magic attack on me. The front legs glittered in pale blue light and swung down. I jumped toward the attack, using my qi to move those front legs out of the way again.
*Thump*
The left front leg swung down cutting its own right front leg and several other legs. Since I used a bit more qi to move that left front leg, the joint of that leg was completely broken that the monster couldn’t lift it anymore.
I got down safely near a cut leg. And so I picked it and reinforced it with ‘Frost Touch’. Walking toward the monster, it looked at me with fear and trying to get away with few other leg. Groaning in painful sound, I decided to end its misery.
*Pierce*
I stabbed the pierce its head, and with a twitch, it stopped. After confirming that its HP reach zero, I removed the frozen leg. And promptly after that, the monster’s whole body disperse into particle just like a game.

I crouched down and touched my hand to the snow. I gathered my energy and closed my eyes.
“Ice Presence Search”
Suddenly, pale blue circle energy seeped from me and shot out like a sonar to the surrounding. About 5 seconds, it ended.

System message informed me and then a mini-map appeared in front of me. With me as the center, it showed the perimeter of 5 kilometers around me. And there’s blue dots and a single red dot in the map. Blue dots indicated monsters and the red dot indicated the rare green Antlion I found.
After confirming that there’re no monster 2 kilometers from me, I sighed in relieved. Thank god, there’s no monster in the perimeter! I have been dealing 3 greater Antlion consecutively, and my mana is running low. I definitely don’t want to fight another one.
I remained there and continued to use ‘Ice Presence Search’. After using 15 minutes, I decided that it is safe to return. When I was able to leave, I noticed something strange. Roughly buried in the snow, the crystal clear tip is visible to see and eyes catching.

Following my curiosity, I quickly run there and started digging. By all mean, this place is where the monster just vanish not long ago. And after it vanish, something is left behind in the ground. NOW wouldn’t that arouse your gamer instinct??!! There’s only one answer!! THIS IS-
“DROP ITEM!!”
I shouted as I held a sword high after digging it out. Crystal clear cyan sword with rather thin body and a double-edge blade, this looks like a rapier and it looked like the cut leg from the monster. More importantly, this is a drop item!
I know that this world is similar to game and sort, but I didn’t item to drop like that!!! Since this feel so realistic, wouldn’t the process be more like collect monster’s corpse and then build equipment from it? Oh wait – the monster disappeared after it died. So I guess it was impossible?
But still, this feel so unrealistic!! After killing the monster, and item just drop like that! Wouldn’t you find it strange? For instance, if you were to kill a slime, and suddenly a short sword came out. Wouldn’t you wonder where that slime kept that sword?!
Anyway, I’m not going to complain anymore! Onii-chan is kind and forgiving! So I let this pass by!

Seeing the light trail it left behind like that, I thought of something cool and then I take my stance.

And then a round ice rose up forming into a training dummy. Seeing that, I raised my sword and dashed in. I swung horizontally, made another 3 turns while repeating slashing it at the same time.

I was so excited that I keep playing with that sword and I lost track of time.

After a while, I calmed down and stopped playing with the sword. Even if I said that I was playing with the sword. I was actually practicing my previous swordsmanship, and it seemed that it wasn’t dull even a bit. While doing so, I was reminded the time I trained with Amano-chan all the time. After I’m done, I put the ‘Little Iceberg’ on my wrist. I checked the surrounding with ‘Ice Presence Search’ again and went back to my shelter. Wait – come to think of it, the defeated Antlion drop item, right? Then I defeated dozen of them, yet I didn’t check it at all! Without waiting any longer, I tried to find the place where they died so that I can dig out item. There was a closest one that I defeated recently, so I went there first. The aftermath of the battle was clear to see, so I arrived quickly.

I thought of digging the surrounding, but then it would take too much time. It can’t be help, let’s waste a little mana.

Suddenly there was something dropped not far behind me. With ki-ki-ki-ki-ki, I turned my head to the back. And there I saw, blue carapace hidden beneath the smoke of snow, and 5 pair of wings.
*Roar*
Shockwave from the roar cleared out the snow. And there stood an Elder Frost Antlion exuding grim aura. Flashing red in its eyes, it tried to find me, but it couldn’t.
Well, isn’t that obvious? The fastest and the most flexible will live longer than any other species. The moment I saw a figure in that snow, I used Ice Pillar and Ice Wall to launch myself like a bullet toward a different direction immediately. Upon landing, I repeated the same action until I reached about 1 kilometers away from the previous place.
*Huff* *Huff*
What was that?! I thought I check that there’s no monster at least 2 kilometers away from me, but how did that Elder Antlion get behind me?!! The buzzing sound wasn’t from the fly, so it was from that Elder Frost Antlion. That fellow must have been flying all the time, but that didn’t answer my question!! How did that guy follow me? Was it a coincident or that guy have a way to track me?!
I was really scared, you know! My HP is now 1 and suddenly that guy appeared. Just one hit, and I’ll kick the bucket – no, just the pressure from the swing will knocked me death. So how am I supposed to fight that?!
*Phew*
However, it’s fine now. I don’t think it would be able to track me. And then I lean my tired self on the snow. It seemed that my MP is recovering faster than before. I guessed the ring worked even if I’m still cursed. Looking at the ring on my finger, I can feel that it wasn’t completely black. It was rather dark cobalt blue.
However, the color is getting lighter and lighter. Am I imagining thing?? I’m not seeing thing, right?! I remembered that it was pit black when I picked it up, but now it got light and lighter of the minutes. I tried to think hard, but I couldn’t come up with anything. And so, I sighed and held that thought on.
There’s no point thinking over it! Let’s rest. And then I checked my status.

Everything has been improving lately from the fight against those Antlion. However, my luck and level hasn’t change even a bit!

5 pair of wings flapping behind it, an Elder Frost Antlion was flying. The wings started glittering pale blue light, and then the monster dropped itself from the air.

Ice spike forcefully protruded out from the ground the moment Antlion hit the ground. That’s some nasty way to invoke a skill. Luckily, I launched myself to the sky with Ice Pillar.

Damn! That thing is trying to fly again. Did you think I’ll let you do what you like?!

50 arrows appeared swirling fast and bombarded the Antlion. I specifically targeted the wings of that monster so that it wouldn’t fly anymore.

Another barrage of the snow ball buried the monster. And immediately, I used ice pillar to run away. No matter what, I won’t fight that thing with 1 HP. The best way is strategic escape!
After a while, I stopped and let my MP to recover a bit. That thing wouldn’t be able to fly anymore. I buried it so it wouldn’t be able to trace me again. However, just to make sure-

Oi! Oi! Oi! Don’t go calling your relative for your own whim!!! I looked at the blue dots in the direction that I has just escaped. It was still coming my way. How the hell can it detect me??!!
Did it spread pheromone on me or something??!! No matter how you see it, it’s absurd!
I tried changing my direction and used ‘Ice Presence Search’ again, but they’re still coming my way.
What should I do?! There’re 3 of them coming this way!! Looking at the speed, they’re coming. I would say, there’re 2 Elder Antlion and a High Antlion. They are all high evolved insect, just how am I supposed to do with 1 HP??!! However, more importantly, how the hell can they track me like that??!!
They shouldn’t be able to do something like this! Their eyes sight is bad and their sense of smell is not the best as well. Unless, I’m 20 meters near them, they wouldn’t be able to charge at me like that. And if I stay still and blend myself in the snow, they wouldn’t be even able to find me. The fact that my white hair blend so well hurt me, but that time I had to accept the painful truth.
There must be something that attract them like this. Something that just happened recently –

So it is your fault??!! What the heck?!! What’s with the Special Effect? I didn’t hear anything about this, you know?!! Wouldn’t it be pointless to run away?! Damn, I have been wasting my MP trying to run away. If I had known this, I would have kicked their ass long before.
It seems that I can’t avoid fighting. Let’s analyze the situation better. There’s 2 Elder Antlion, and a high Antlion. My HP is 1. It’s a suicide mission –
NO! Wait! Don’t give up yet. There must be a way to deal with this. My HP is 1, but that wasn’t all. Black Weakening poison reduced my HP 100 in a second. ‘Light Heal’ healed my HP for 500. I can use it 3 times consecutively in 5 second which mean I would have 1000 HP left. That would be enough to endure their attack’s pressure for 2 second.
“Light Heal”
I healed myself and saw that my HP really increase, but it went back to 1 in 5 second. I got my HP covered and so next is my plan to attack. 1 flying Elder Antlion, 1 unable to fly Elder Antlion, and 1 flying High Antlion, those are coming toward me as the Mini-map showed.
Elder Antlions are easy to handle if I keep using range attack, but High Antlion is different. It can use range attack as well, and it the biggest threat to me in this situation. I can’t move carelessly as well, if other monster to come to me, then thing will get really ugly.
Let’s check what I have in my disposal. Since my core affinity is down to 3, my magic spell is limited as well. However, I was able to learn higher rank ice magic. Since I remembered them from the books in the library. And so, I learned ‘Ice Lance’ ‘Ice Spike’ and ‘Freezing Field’. ‘Ice Presence Search’ is the result from playing around with Ice Trinket. Forming them into a circle, I learned to shrink and expand them, and so I used them like a sonar search. And then I got the skill, but sadly, it can only detect any monster or people that has ice element or ice affinity.
*Tsk*
I clicked my own tongue as I knew that my magic alone wouldn’t be able to defeat them. An Elder Antlion has strong defense and I would need to empty my MP thrice just to kill one of them. However, without MP, I can’t heal myself either. It would be too much of a risk. There must be another way.
As I was pondering, I turned to look at the ‘Little Iceberg’ on my wrist. I took it out and held it in my arm. Come to think of it, I won’t have to attack them bare-hand anymore. My attack range might improve, but it wasn’t enough.
I kept looking at it, and gripped it hard. And then I remembered something. I used identify on it again and then I found it.

In the part of ‘Bind to get’, there’s a skill which I can used. It must be a special skill of the weapon, but I couldn’t use it. It seems that I need to bind the weapon first, but I don’t know how. I don’t remembered reading anything about binding weapon or equipment.

I calmed myself down as I was troubled with the fact I can’t bind this weapon. There’s always answer to a solution. I just have to find it. I used ‘Ice Presence Search’ again and I found out that those 3 are still coming my way fast.
I don’t have much time. I have to decide now. If they were to attack me at the same time, I would be surely dead. My only chance is to attack them one by one. Close combat is out of question, and my magic aren’t strong enough to beat even one of them. If only I had more weapon or ranged weapon–
Hmm? THAT’S IT! I need ranged weapons! And my only chance is the drop item! I defeated 13 of them before, so the item should stay at the place they die. There’re still 11 more of them. However, if I moved around recklessly, this curse will just attract more monsters. And I’m not even sure that there will be item left behind. If the monster didn’t drop anything, then I’ll be flooded with monsters. The chance is too low and the risk is too big. Or should I just keep escaping until the curse’s duration run out? Damn, I can’t decide!

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. The chilling air ran though my body, and I was able to calm down. Concentrating on the mini-map, I tried to estimate the place where I defeat those Antlions. However, at that time I realized something.
Ufufufufufu~ Let’s do something dangerous. I’ve decided. I’m going to loot all the items!
Putting my sword away, I started running toward the closest location that I defeated one of Antlion. Using my own strength to run, I wanted to save my MP as much as possible.

After running for a while, an Elder Antlion came in sight. It was dashing toward me fast. I sped up even faster and ignored the monster completely.

SWEET! Without delaying any longer, I tried out the new skill. And then I feel magic seeping and reinforced my feet. And then with each step, snow erupted behind me. OH!! I’m having too much fun!!

“Come and get me. Stupid Mantis! Hahahahaha~”
I laughed while running and the Antlion seem pissed off. I used ‘Ice Presence Search’ and then I found that 5 more blue dots was coming my way. Good! Just keep coming forth!
1 minutes and Sprint lost its effect. I then used it again and rushed forward like an arrowhead. The Antlion that was following my back was gone. It seems that I outrun it. It wasn’t long that I came to a place where there were remnant of ice spike. I remembered immediately that I found an Elder Antlion here. I jumped into the epicenter and tried to search for the item.
However before I could use Ice wall to raise up what’s hidden beneath. My ring flashed blue.
*Ting*
Equipment Found. Would you like to store it in the Interspatial Space?
Baffled by the sudden message, I said yes. And then light from the underground seeped into my ring. When that happened, I can feel an existence of an object in my head. I trembled while looking at my ring. Don’t tell me –
I opened my hand and imagined the object to appear on my hand.
“Release Frost Pinch”
Suddenly, a blue knife formed and dropped onto my palm.

The knife disperse into light and was absorbed by the ring. As I thought, this ring isn’t your normal buff ring. This is undoubtedly an –
ITEM BOX!!!! I FINALLY GOT AN ITEM BOX!!!
I held my sword and then I retracted it. It really disappeared into the ring. This is more awesome than I thought, and it will be benefit my plan greatly. I don’t have to use Ice wall every times to get the buried Item. Just by going near it, I would be able to retract that item into my ring. How great is that??!! Muhahahaah~

Oh~ Now isn’t the time yet. I need to gather all items before the curse duration run out.
“Sprint!”
I started sprinting again toward another area. I have already estimated the place of the previous battle through my Mini Map. So it wouldn’t be long before I collected all of them.

After collecting the last item, I am now running. And there’s snow storm coming behind me trying to devour me. Well, the part that it wanted to devour was true except it wasn’t snow storm. It was horde of Antlion – hmm, I guessed it’s about 100 or so? Teehee~

Uwaaah!! 100 or so roared at the same times, and my eardrum almost burst. Oh, and by the way, they are all running with their legs now since I took out their wings. I wouldn’t want them flying away after all. Ufufufufu~
There’s still 10 minutes more before my curse is totally gone. And I have been finding the last piece. After checking the Mini-map, I know the estimated location of that thing, but I still couldn’t see it yet.
Feeling betrayed, I squinted my eyes to the sky. And I really see a tiny speck from far away. Looking at the Mini-map, it is a blinking red dot. Yup, that’s no other than the tri-horned Jade Antlion, the rare monster.
*Roar*
That guy’s screamed alone overtake the 100 guys behind me. Since all the piece has already assembled. Let’s started the real plan.
“Sprint! Ice Mana Manipulation!”
I stomped the ground hard running in a large circle, and every steps, I implanted my energy beneath it. The 100 antlion behind me were still going hot without stopping. Monster’s stamina is really something else.
While I was trying to finish the large circle, the rare monster came in clear sight.
*Roar*
The jade Antlion roared loudly releasing shockwave toward me and the other Antlion. I instinctively used Light Heal on myself and luckily escape the death. Just the sheer shockwave from the roar cut me 300 HP, and that’s about 100 meters away from each other, you know?!
I suddenly shivered from the glare within the green eyes’ sockets. I checked my back, and noticed that the Antlion were still chasing me. Normally, they would run away facing that Jade Antlion, but it seems that my curse work wonder.
*Thump*
I stomped hard on the point where I started implanting my energy and finished the circle. Without stopping or losing my momentum, I started running inside the circle I just made.
1 minutes more before the Black Weakening Poison vanished. I checked the mini-map and the 100 Antlions has entered the circle.
*Roar*!!
The jade Antlion started skydiving toward my place from 100 meters altitude.
‘Release Heal Stone, Little Iceberg’
I grabbed a red stone in a size of candy and placed it in my mouth. And then I held the blue sword tightly

20 meters – It’s NOW!
My eyes flashed as my time has come. Crushing the stone in my mouth, it restored my health to the maximum. Tightly grabbed the sword with both of my hand, I propelled myself like a bullet toward the Jade Antlion with Ice pillar.
Shocked that I suddenly jump, Jade Antlion lost its momentum and swung its claw. I rotated myself in midair and dodged the claw. I also promptly dodged the mouth as well. Passing its head and coming toward its wings, I flipped to gain force and swung the ‘Little Iceberg’ hard.
Like butter, I cut through those wings easily. And so the 7 pairs of wings fell off. Sensing that it no longer be able to fly. I depleted all of my mana and use ‘Ice Wall’.

Suddenly, the circle I made before shone in deep blue color. And then, one by one burst forth 40 meters high and 2 meters thick ice wall forming a large circle around all of those Antlions. I grinned as my plan worked out the way I wanted –

The ‘Little Iceberg’ shattered into piece from the tail attack of the jade Antlion, and I was blown away to the top of the wall.
