It was a dark day.
The sun was unseen, the grey clouds blocking sunlight from ever reaching the surface. A storm was brewing, that much was clear.
Towns, villages, cities and capitals alike prepare for the storm. Laundry was taken in to compensate for the rain that will eventually fall down. Whether it was heavy or light, that was the priority for most mothers.
Within the capital of an Empire, deep inside the calls, and inside the castle itself. There stood a well equipped and armored man, his sword neatly sheathed to the left, and his helmet clutched to his armored stomach.
Eyes watched from a window, staring outside as they see the eventual storm approaching. The well lit room he stood in was warm, completely opposite from the outside.
His ears twitch at the sound of fire, knowing well that it was keeping this room warm. Slowly turning his head to the side, listening to that sound, his body shifts position and stares at a darkened double door.
His eyes stared at the door, as if he was staring at it's soul. If you gave it longer, you might've seen the door crack from the pressure. That was all but interrupted when it opens inwards to a well dressed man within his 50's.
However, what he wore was nearly obscured by the bright red cape that he wore, his collar filled with white puffy fur of unknown origin. If one were to touch it however, they'd soon find themselves... Sleeping.

Atop his head was graced by a golden jeweled crown, it wasn't too showy, rather simplistic in nature. It was however, enough for one man to take a small glance and see his position.
"Good morning Captain. I assume you know what will happen soon?" His raspy voice filled the room, showing his age had affected it. Yet, it was still deep and intimidating.
The Captain bowed his head down in respect, not daring to look up as he kept his helmet on his stomach. Finding itself on his armored chest for comfort.
"Yes your majesty, everyone is equipped and ready for the event." Soft but respectful. Entirely different from his majesty, or rather, the Emperor.
He hummed and walked to a window, staring out and observing his city, the capital city. "Raise your head Captain, in an hour, we shall strike. "
The Captain raised his head, knowing what his majesty wanted. More land, more riches, more power. This will be the first in their history to successfully conquer another world.
Those that weren't able to do so, were incompetent within their eyes. If those that tried before them failed, then simply they weren't prepared. They were powerful, their armies neared 2 Million men, 500 thousand mages, 100 thousand beasts, griffon riders, wyvern riders, everything they could think of.
They had food that lasted for 2 months, thanks to the brilliance of their researches, everyone feared them, they were the strongest force in all their land.
As both of them silently stared past the windows, and into the city. An hour would eventually pass by as his majesty lead the army towards his victory. Towards new frontiers, a world where only he can rule.
Reaching closer and closer to the miraculous place, they stopped and camped. They weren't going to send out everyone in yet, no that would lead to doom! Instead, only one person will be sent inside as a scout.
They were careful, they didn't want to be ambushed by the enemy world's forces.
With the scout finally being released into the world, they can only await his return and news of the other world.
