Prologue (rough draft)

Prologue (rough draft)

Lightning lighting up the night sky, thunder roaring. Rain coming down hard as one of the worst moments of my life was about to unfold. Standing at the alter upset that it was raining but don’t they say it’s good luck for rain at a wedding. They probably don’t mean during the ceremony. I feel like it’s going to be cute not even rain was going to stop us from getting married. Any minute now she should be rounding the corner.

Our meeting was something out to of a romance novel. We were both fed up with our lives looking to make big changes. Somehow out of all the ways we could start. We both chose to do a solo cruise to the Bahamas and a private island owned by the cruise line. It wasn’t until first night dinner that we met. I never really believed in love at first sight until that moment.

No makeup, hair was wild and somehow perfect at the same time. Golden blonde hair and hazelnut brown that had a gleam to match. The slightest of button noses that wouldn’t be out of place in a grinch holiday movie. Teeth are whiter then fresh snowfall. Then I couldn’t stop myself from glancing down at her outfit. It wasn’t anything special just a sundress that wasn’t out of place on a cruise.

I wasn’t wearing anything special though I was in khaki shorts and a hawaiian shirt. There were very few people in the dinning hall with us, most people choosing to explore the ship and eat at the buffet on the first night. All I could do was hope that the waiter would offer to sit her at the same table as me. Sadly I wasn’t that lucky I was going to have to work for it. She glanced over at me and I quickly turned my gaze to somewhere else.

Oh crap I was staring, maybe she didn’t notice. She defiantly noticed I was probably all googly eyes. Then I decided to sweep my gaze by her one more time and she was staring back at me and turned she gazed as soon as she saw me look your way again. I was so in my head about what I did next but I’m glad I took that leap although there where probably a million things that could’ve gone wrong.

When my waiter came around I asked if I could move to join someone else. With a yes, I asked if he could ask her if it was alright first. Luckily he agreed and so did she. That is how it all started and jumping back to the present a year later I’m at the alter waiting. The music starts to play and I see you round the corner. The dress is amazing, but your actually wearing make up. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen her in make up before. Time was moving so slow from then on.

Annoyance from the rain long out of my mind. The way she was smiling, and defiantly the way it caused the dress to hug her body even tighter. I was the luckiest man alive rain defiantly had to be good luck. It was a small outside wedding on a farm but she didn’t have to walk far, and in no time she was next to me. I could hear my mom, and her dad crying as we sad out vows.

Then came our I do’s and the last words either of us would hear on earth. “You may now kiss the bride.” As soon as our lips touched, I felt a shock of a lifetime. Eyes popping open but everything was still black. I had the oddest of sensations of weightlessness. Am I dead?

Screams from everyone at the wedding. Chris and Holly where struck by lightning as soon as they kissed but not only that, they disappeared. No one knowing what to do.
