Chapter - 3 The Path To Little Understanding

Chapter - 3 The Path To Little Understanding

In the blink of an eye, four months had passed, and Vicky was slowly adjusting to his new life. His mother and father were loving and caring, just like his previous parents. He was doing all the things a baby should do and was enjoying every moment. Vicky tried his best to convince his father to use the powers he had exhibited on the day he was born, but his father refused. Whenever Vicky was near his father, he would try to hold his hands, hoping to feel his power, but it was always out of reach.

Vicky spent his mornings playing with his mother, watching as his father left for work. He would return in the evening, sometimes late, and often covered in injuries. Vicky didn't understand how his father got hurt so much, but he knew it was from some kind of dangerous work. Despite the severity of the injuries, his father would always go back to work the next day, leaving Vicky to wonder about the nature of his father's job.

Exactly two months later, Vicky had made significant progress in understanding the language spoken in this world. He had learned that supernatural powers were a reality here, and people harnessed them.

One day, as his mother was teaching him new words, his father burst through the gate, covered in blood. His mother rushed to his side, alarm etched on her face. "Husband, what happened?" she exclaimed.

Vicky's father collapsed onto a chair, his clothes soaked in crimson. "Today's mission was a disaster," he said, his voice laced with bitterness. "We were hunting wild beasts for vessel ingredients, but we stumbled upon a Golden Bear - a Beast Lord, no less. We tried to flee, but it gave chase. We had no choice but to engage it in combat. It slashed my chest, and... well, you can see the result."

Vicky's eyes widened as he took in the sight of his injured father, his mind racing with questions about the mysterious world he now inhabited.

After catching his breath, Ryker continued, "One of my teammates saved me, but we lost two good men to that beast. It was a nightmare. The bear killed them, and then we managed to escape when it was distracted by their bodies. We had to use their sacrifice to save our own lives."

Aria's expression turned concerned. "Ryker, you should have been more careful. You have a son now. Did you go to the Healing Pavilion?"

Ryker nodded. "Yes, I went. My wounds are almost healed, but I lost a lot of blood during the escape. I need to rest and recuperate for a while longer."

Aria smiled softly. "You should take your time. I was thinking of rejoining the missions, but..."

Ryker's face turned solemn. "You don't need to, Aria. Who will take care of Ren? You've just given birth and Ren is very young now, and you shouldn't be rushing back into missions. There's no urgency in our Kai village right now. Take a long rest, for Ren's sake, and your own."

Aria's face clouded with worry. "Please, Ryker, try not to get hurt again."

Ren, still learning to understand the world around him, listened intently to his parents' conversation. He had picked up bits and pieces of information from their talks and occasional visits from neighbors. He knew his name was Ren Kai, and he lived in Kai Village. He had also learned that Vessel Masters could harness supernatural powers, but the how eluded him.

Ren would often watch his parents sit in meditation, trying to grasp the secrets of their supernatural abilities. He saw them focus their minds and calm their breathing, but the connection between their actions and the powers they wielded remained a mystery.

As the night drew to a close, Ren's eyelids grew heavy. After a fun-filled evening of playtime with his father and a nourishing meal from his mother, he drifted off to sleep, his young mind still trying to make sense of the world.
