I walked into the Palace Of The Broken without Darron. he doesn't need to see what is inside. he has already seen so much and forcing him into this last battle would be to cruel since most of the tortured souls here are people he would have known. I walked past torture chamber after torture chamber not even waiting for a moment or looking inside before I killed the poor soul to put them out of their misery. I could hear their bloody screams from a mile away. this entire palace was made of people. the walls the floor... made of the dead mutated bodies of people. a
Was I a monster for killing those in the chambers without hesitating? no I don't think I am since they were in such a state that if they could even open their mouth to talk they would beg me to do it. it was my failure that caused this. I was to weak back then and spent far to little time training. I trained 6 hours a day and the rest of the day I was having fun with my friends... I shouldn't have even slept while I knew the demon lord was growing stronger by the day and that thing had the advantage of not needing to sleep.
I finally made it to an open area however this wasn't the demon lords throne. I could sense the presence of that monster as I had burned the feeling into my heart and soul. A few monsters tried to attack me but I just reduced them to dust with a simple Mana Blast. all that does is gather Mana in your palm and expel it with the force of a bullet but mine is more like a cannon.
One foot infront of the other. I had been training for this day non stop for 5 years in a world of pure chaos. I was strong enough now to kill the demon lord with ease and I would not make his death a quick one. I destroyed a few walls that were in my way entered the back of the demon lords chamber from directly behind his throne. I did not reveal my presence to that monster yet. I slowly walked through the hole in the wall before accelerating to a run and I jumped directly at the throne.
I embedded my sword into the throne and on the other side the demon lord had its blade to black mine. even if my hero's blade is broken it still is 18 cm long and if I flow mana into it I can extend it to its former size of 1.3 meters long. however the demon lord was a monster beyond that of his own creations. even against me he held my sword back with ease.
"Dragon Fire"(Paul)
my blade started glowing bright red and then exploded with a burning hot flame that melted the demon lord. unfortunately it was not enough

Have to come to take my life or rescue 'her' because she has long since passed""""(Demon Lord) it spoke with all of its unsightly holes in its face that all spoke a different disgusting tone. he was the size of a two stories building and except for his looks the general shape was that of an overgrown mutated human... mainly because he is. The Demon Lord was the combination of a unknown virus and a human. I failed to stop it and couldn't bring myself to kill him back when I still could... I failed.
I failed back then but this is different. since I am the only force alive that can stop the demon lord now I don't just want to kill the demon lord. If I don't there wont be a soul to stop him.

I sliced the demon lord into tiny cubes almost instantly and I had thought him dead with that alone however he is one resilient bastard. He regenerated like nothing happens. I was about to attack again however the demon lord did something I never expected him to do. that monster ran away.
"NO YOU DON'T. HOLY LIGHTNING!!!!"(Paul)
A bolt of lightning crashed down onto the demon lords head so the demon lord just decided to keep running and left its head behind. he ran through a few walls before vanishing from my sight. I was about to charge after him if he left the palace however the demon lord stopped just short of the palace outer wall. I walked through the new doorway he created and I clutched my sword tightly.
This was a trap and I knew that however there was nothing he could do any more. I have killed his 12 alpha demons and reduced his army to only numbering in the thousands. he has nothing that can hurt me any more. I walked into the room the demon lord ran into. it was an open area with a few trees growing in it. said trees had people hanging from them like they were fruit.

I turned to the demon lord who no longer ran to try and find out why his aura gave off an air of confidence. if anything he should be able to feel my power overwhelming his own. but then I saw it. In that creatures hands held out like a shield was Darron. there was a few mutated birds flying above us and I realised what h was trying to say. he thought that Darron wasn't prepared to die. He thought I wasn't prepared to kill Darron.
"...die..... Die..... DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE"(Paul) I started cutting the demon lord apart and my rage started to take over.
"Cursed Slash" (Paul) I sliced not just Darron in half but every single person that hung from the trees having their intestines used as Christmas decorations was put out of their misery. the demon lord was sliced in half but he regenerated however inside his shocked expression his many disgusting eyes showed fear. that fear would ensure my victory. he had nothing left up his selves and he was scared
"What's the matter? is that the best you have? I already am determined to kill every single person in this place including you. putting one person in front of you wont save you. DRAGON SLASH" (Paul) I charged at him with full force and he regenerated even though he was torn into tiny little floating squares. damn monster.
""""You can't kill me. I am immortal""""(Demon Lord) He was about to continue talking but I slashed his head off again. I then got ready for the final attack. I would not delay any longer or give him a chance to power up. I would end this here and now. no mater his strength I already am stronger then him but I am not foolish enough to risk what he would do with nothing left and in desperation. if I gave him that sort of chance and I lost... no, I cant think about it because it ends HERE AND NOW!!!
"Final Strike"(Paul)
I dropped my sword and dashed over to him instantly. I gathered so much energy into my fist that it caused the light around me to bend and then I punched him with so much force it tore him apart at the atomic level and levelled his entire palace. an explosion of blood was carried for miles by the shock wave.
"ha.... I did it... no, I failed, this isn't any segment of victory, I have failed and to many people have died..... GRAAAAA"(Paul) I punched the ground causing a crater to form beneath me. with the demon lord dead every single monster alive will soon die out... I should feel like I have done it but this was a failure. how many people died because of my weakness?
"...hero...."(???)
I looked around for where the voice came from but I was at a loss. the voice felt familiar but different at the same time. I turned to the sword that I had dropped and noticed that it was gathering the shattered pieces that it had lost in the fight all those years ago and yet the sword felt stronger then before.
"Hero. you have beaten the demon lord and you task is done. we grant you any 1 wish within our power" (???) the sword said but it felt like it wasn't the sword saying it.
".. wait... your the Divines aren't you?... *sigh* I have nothing you can do. I just wish I could go back and stop this failure from ever happening" (Paul) I said that with a huge amount of regret as I looked at the sun that broke through the dark storm clouds above.

I felt everything stop. things stopped moving. I stood there in shock and confusion. a bright light flashed over my eyes and I fell asleep without a word.

That took slightly longer then I thought it would just to write however after going over it a few times I think this is just about right for setting up for the next chapter.
