To anyone not familiar with the secret military base of Marina, shock and awe will fill your mind. That also included me. I do know how some bases look like from the news, but this place is incredible. It felt like a part of the landscape was carved perfectly carved, with the sky only visible from two slits formed from the curvature of the mountain. The base of the... base forms a dome.
The whole compound is lit up with bright lights installed by the military. Ignoring all the trucks, there is an odd sense of beauty within this place as some of the mountain habitant wasn't destroyed or replaced by concrete. All the vehicles came from one of the three entrances, on the west side of the dome; the others being on east side (apparently goes towards Raguna) and one roughly 270° from the huge pole with the Japanese Flag on top. Between each entrance, there are contiguous structures that make up the newly designated quarters for civilians. In the middle of the dome in a hexagonal shape, is the main base where all the control, communications, and electricity is found. Here is a rough sketch of the base.

After everyone got down and gathered inside the main base, the commander speaks with undeniable authority in her usual demeanor.
"Citizens of Marina. I have bad news- actually, it's REALLY-FUCKING-BAD-NEWS. " Everyone was silent. Even the commander stopped for a few seconds until she got herself together, realizing her tone is inappropriate.
"All of you probably know already... every country in the world... millions of people...are dead. Destroyed. All because of some stupid decision some a fat man with power... Heh. My husband was in Tokyo for some party or something with his coworkers. And now with just an instant..."
Pain can be seen in the her face. People start sobbing up, hugging what remains in their lives including my mother who hugs me very tightly. I hug her back.
"I... we will all get through this. I swear as commander of this base, I will protect you all." In a rare moment, she smiles like a maiden.
"But first of all, we must survive. I have plans on how-"
"Pacific?" a military man approaches my family.
"Ryoichi!" Mother rushes towards the man. It's been a long time since I saw my father. He looks smaller than I remember with only a few centimeters taller than me. He looks well-built, and my nose and the shape of my eyes seems to have come from him. I walk towards him and gave him a hug.
"Hey... Father."
"Aubrey... Pacific... I know it's been a while since I saw both of you. But every single day of my life, you were in my thoughts. I'm just so happy that both of you are here. Come, we assigned rooms for everyone. You have to stay here for a while."
Everyone disperses from the main base and separates to one of the three quarters. Dad proceeded to explain the things we must do from now on. There seems to be around 300+ people inside, with about 100 military personnel and 200 civilians. 40% of the civilians are either elderly or too young to think for themselves, making the capable limited. The military can't solely provide all the needs for everyone so they need extra force. It was decided that there will be search parties for survivors and food tomorrow.
