'Howl!!!'

'Howl!!!, Howl!!!'

Before I knew it, my hearing was suddenly assaulted by the sound of a creature's howling chain reaction.

That sudden shock made my consciousness return to my body, unfortunately, my eyesight is still blurry.

'Howl!!!'

Because of the intolerable continuous howling, I then crouched to the ground out of fear of losing my life.

When my hand and bottom touched the ground, I suddenly felt something strange, therefore I instantly start feeling the place where I am.

The ground felt grainy, smooth, and a bit prickly. When I grabbed a sample of the ground my eyesight then finally returned to myself which revealed the identity of the ground.

"Sand??" (Me)

It is certainly sand, realizing that the sand on my hand then starts dropping to the ground leaving a small amount of sand on my palm.

Holding the sand nearing my face, a question surfaced in my mind.

"(Why is there is sand here?, !!!)"

I then realized a major fact, my just returned eyesight was baffled by the scenery in front of my eyes.

Desert

"A... Desert!?" (Me)

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

Even though it is certainly in front of my eyes, my brain just can't process it, it felt like it was a contradiction to where I was always at.

Then it hit me.

"(Who am I?)" (Me)

Before delving deeper into that, I noticed that on the hill of sand a few steps away in front of me, there stood the back of a veiled woman figure.

Seeing that familiar back, I immediately stand up ignoring the howl of the beasts.

When she turned herself toward me, a name reflectively came out from my mouth.

"A-Alicia." (Me)

When our eyesight meets each other, she then showed me a familiar smile.

Tears then flowed from my eyes and before I had noticed it, my body has already started sprinting toward her.

"     " (Alicia)

I can see from her mouth that she is saying something, but I can't hear it... no... I refuse to hear it.

I was a few steps away to reach her when suddenly a strong gust of sandy wind hit me.

But I didn't stop, I don't know why but my mind and body told me that I can't stop here.

While half-closing my eyes I shouted toward her while holding my right hand toward her.

"ALICIAAAA!!!!!"

Even though it is blurry, I can see that she is also holding her hand toward me, when I grabbed her hand, the gust then suddenly disappeared.

Cleaning my eyes with my left hand, I then noticed that the gust is not the only thing that has disappeared.

The figure of Alicia is nowhere to be seen, and of course that my right hand is not holding her hand but her hand is now replaced with a paper.

My head is now blank, without knowing or processing what had just happened, I then opened the paper with an empty expression.

"I Leave Alicia To You, Save And Protect Her"

That was written on that dirty paper with dried blood as its ink. Reading that, I let out a dry laugh.

"Ha, ha, what the heck is happening to me."

Looking toward the night sky, I then said in a low voice.

"I can't even remember my own name and now 'you' want me to protect someone that I can't even remember."

"Hah, don't make me laugh."

[A/N: you here refers to the writer of the paper]

I honestly don't want to do it but I have a feeling that I might remember something on this journey.

Well, that was half a lie.

"I don't remember why, but, I will do it, I swore to you."

'(And since I have nothing to do and a weird goal is better than no goal.)"

That night in that desert, I swore an oath to someone that I don't know to save someone that I can't remember.

"To do that, my first goal is to escape from this desert."

No name, no memory, no money, alone, what I have is the cloth on my back and a goal.
