A small recap… I made a request from the God of Death and the Underworld to get some extra clues on who is behind this whole operation collecting children to create mana spheres. And I have to give Lady Agata a bit of background on what happened over the past 3 weeks from my perspective.
“Can you at least tell me, what did you do while I was gone? You made me really worried when you suddenly disappeared from my presence.” Lady Agata is a bit pouty.
“What were you doing first within those 3 weeks?” I asked.
“I was busy training Connie. How about you when are you gonna tell me what you did while I was gone?” Lady Agata consistently tries to get me into talking but I guess I have to tell her.
“Let’s just say I met a new God along the way that gave me a heads up on where Connie’s assailants are. I got a huge chunk of information from them anyway.” I replied.
“Who is this new God that you met?” Lady Agata was confused a bit.
“What isn’t normal for me to meet another God?” I asked.
“Not usually each hero or at least a chosen person can only meet one God in their life. Then again you are the Woodsman’s son who's met more than 25 Gods in his time. So it's not completely impossible.
So who is the God that you met?” Lady Agata gleaming with curiosity.
“His name was Vergil… And he gave me quite a lot for not a lot needed.” I replied.
“Vergil… You mean the God of Death and the Underworld?!” Lady Agata was surprised or caught off guard from that answer.
I nodded in response.
“Vergil is known to be a kind God when it comes to his chosen Reapers. Let me see your face.” Lady Agata holds my face to give a good view of it.
“???” I was surprised when she took a good look to check if something’s wrong with my face.
“Seems like you’ve gotten his gift.” Lady Agata seems satisfied from what she saw.
“So why the hurry of you finding me then?” I asked.
“Well for one I was worried you don’t know where to go that you might get lost or something. Plus you’re still not used to using your new abilities.” Lady Agata replied.
“I’m actually used to getting lost. Since living with my Father, I’ve always been lost and found at the same time even.” I replied.
“If so then we should get back with Connie.” Lady Agata tried to pull me.
“Sorry Lady Agata… I’m not done with this yet. I want those people who are doing this whole operation to pay.” I clenched my fist as I talked to Lady Agata.
“If you say so Alan.” Lady Agata shrugs.
“So what’s next on the list?” I asked.
“To be honest I don’t have anything at the moment but I’m always looking. So for now I’ll go be safe out there and don’t disappear from my sight Alan.” Lady Agata disappears soon after…
Meanwhile somewhere in the Underworld…
“VERGIL!!!!” Shouted an angry Goddess entering the realm.
This caught him off guard and fell down from his chair.
“Oh, hi Agata. Long time no see! How’s mother nature going?” Vergil stands up and fixes his chair.
“What did you make Alan do? And why did it take you 3 weeks?” Agata asked.
“I didn’t make him do anything bad, I just gave him a hand in his investigation. Since I was also worried about the state of the Underworld.” Vergil speaks in a worried tone…
“What are you talking about? Did something happen here?” Agata asked again, a bit calmer this time.

“There is an influx of children all of the sudden. And I wanted to know what happened since no major catastrophes or disasters have been reported to inform me. I was confused where these souls came from.” Vergil sits down again to take in what had happened in the underworld.
“I didn’t expect you to go through something nowadays.” Agata seems to be not impressed.
“Well this problem wasn’t recorded nor predicted. This happened out of the blue. There was a mass-murder of children, I’m basically Death incarnate but trust me this isn’t normal when I myself didn’t know and counted this to happen.
So I had to investigate what is happening in the human realm. And found something horrible, I thought Alan’s Father already made peace across the land. It just turned out to be horrible. You wouldn’t believe what humans have been up to ever since he left and now passed away…” Vergil looked at Agata a bit frustrated.
“Well since when did you get worried about people dying?” Agata was curious.
“Let’s just say he was a big part of my change. I mean you do know what he’s capable of right? You were the one responsible for his Father right?” Vergil replied.
“Yes, I know but since when did you have a change of heart?” Agata retaliated.
“Leo, he showed me everything I could do to change meaningless deaths. Since at one point the Underworld was overrun by demons at one point and he saved my ass from getting killed from the rebellion.
Now why do you think I care about children being mass murdered right in front of you? Huh? I’m just asking you, Agata. I’m not the same God you know from back then.” Vergil answered.
“You were once the most revered person of this world at one point. You were the God that people didn’t want to see on their last breath. Bringing fear to those who cling into life.” Agata confronted Vergil.
“Yeah, I know. Those who cling into life will die, and those who cling into death, live. I still follow that of course it’s my job as the God of Death and the Underworld but you don’t understand what the world is going through right now.” Vergil replied.
“I wonder what Leo did to make you do a 180 in your life.” Agata wondered.
“Oh, that? He scolded me.” Vergil chuckled.
The Goddess of Nature didn’t expect such an answer from Vergil.
“He scolded me just because I was doing my job.” Vergil continued to chuckle.
“Why though?” Agata was more confused.
“He told me that just because I’m the God of Death doesn’t mean I can’t decide if the person is worthy to die. I mean I don’t really predict deaths since I have to follow the God of Fate and do as he says.
But that man changed everything and defiled the laws of our world. He cheated death multiple times. To the point it became a normal thing for him to visit the underworld and return back to life after a short while.
That made me realize that there are people worth looking into when they die. And that seeing the tides or weather of current affairs will be reflected by how many people are dying. After seeing many innocent children dying, how couldn’t you ignore such an incident.
And why are all of them children? You get what I’m saying? Plus I owe him a lot for balancing out the underworld.” Vergil smugly smiles.
“If that's what you only did for today I guess I can let that slide.” Agata sighed.
“Here’s a warning from me, Agata… The world has changed, and Alan might face things his Father might not like. Despite him bringing the best peace that this world needed. We might see another incident in the near future.” Vergil gets serious.
“Should I warn him?” Agata asked.
“Not sure yet but I’ve heard this from the God of Fate. For the sake of his Father’s name don’t let him go astray Agata. It’s the best thing we could do after all of his sacrifices.” Vergil holds Agata on her shoulders.
“I’ll try my best to lead him into the best we could after our first run with Leo. I’m not letting things go the way he experienced it, not with his son now living his legacy.” Agata replies as she leaves the Underworld.
Back in the woods by the campfire…
“Hey there Alan.” Lady Agata appears by the tree.
“Anything new happened?” I asked.
“Not much, just had a small talk with some of the Gods. Connie is doing her best training magic, other than that she’s doing well.” Lady Agata sits down by the campfire.
“So what’s the next move you think we should do?” I asked Lady Agata.
“Best thing we should do right now is to investigate more. Since you got some intel from Vergil this makes our search easier for us.” Lady Agata replied.
“I guess we have to find this man named ‘Big Boss’. Apparently the information I got is what they call him when they deal with transactions between magic sphere’s. He handles everything behind the scenes to keep his industry alive.
How do you think I should handle this? Since you know you’re my representative.” I asked.
“I can try and track him down if you want to. But that wouldn’t be helpful if things get complicated. How about you collect more information while we’re going to the next village. We’ll return to the previous one if we need to confront the Guild there.
Since I have a sneaking suspicion of that place ever since you step into that village. And how Connie was mentioning that specific village. We’re essentially in the Eastern Guild’s territory; they won’t go far from this place.” Lady Agata replied.
“I guess that’s the plan I’ll go ahead and sleep for now. See you tomorrow Lady Agata.” I yawned and laid down on my bed for the night…
See what we can find tomorrow, hopefully something useful.
