Chapter 20: Blaze of Battle

Jerry stood, flames flickering around him, manifesting as the majestic Phoenix that soared with authority and might. Kelly, radiant as the sun at noon, cast light so brilliant it was blinding. She unleashed her luminous assaults, sharp as arrows, directed at James and Allen.

James and Allen retaliated with their unique abilities. James’ arms transformed into sturdy metal, his fists, now iron-clad, lunged at Kelly. Meanwhile, Allen manipulated the air, creating a protective shield, hoping to parry Jerry's fiery offense.

With an elegant sidestep, Kelly dodged James' metallic onslaught. Her fingers discharged powerful beams of light, striking him with such force that he was catapulted backward, a look of utter disbelief etched on his face.

Jerry locked into a fierce duel with Allen's barrier. Every time Jerry's flames met the shield, explosive sounds resonated. Astonishment flashed in Allen’s eyes; clearly, he had underestimated Jerry’s newfound potency.

"Jerry, how do you possess such power?" Allen asked, incredulity evident in his voice.

"Perhaps I've just hidden it well before," Jerry responded icily, recognizing this was his golden moment.

Suddenly, James surged back into action, eyes blazing a furious red. His entire body gleamed with a metallic sheen as he lunged at Jerry with renewed vigor. However, Kelly timely materialized in his path, unleashing an even mightier beam, flooring him instantly.

Kelly approached Jerry, gently grasping his hand, "We need to leave, now."

Jerry nodded, knowing she was right. Yet he also knew, this battle was just the beginning.

As the skirmish wore on, Kelly's radiant assaults visibly waned, her complexion turning pallid. James, noting her fatigue, sneered maliciously. Using his metallic form’s agility and strength, he lunged at her at a breakneck speed.

Jerry watched in agony, but was immobilized, ensnared by the air Allen controlled, unable to advance even an inch. Kelly valiantly resisted, but was clearly overwhelmed, eventually succumbing to James' devastating blow, violently crashing against the wall.

"Kelly!" Jerry's voice cracked, anguish consuming him.

Allen smirked, his cold voice dripping with contempt, "Did you really think the two of you could stand against us, Jerry? You are merely lab rats!"

Seeing Kelly in peril tore Jerry apart. It was then that the Phoenix's voice echoed in his mind once more, "Boy, if you don't wish to witness her death, let me take over your body."

After a moment of painful hesitation, Jerry reluctantly nodded. He felt his consciousness blur, his body seemingly puppeteered by a powerful, unfamiliar force.

In an instant, Jerry was enveloped in flames, transforming into a magnificent, fiery-red Phoenix. Its deafening roar echoed throughout the dungeon, instilling an unprecedented fear in all who were present.

James and Allen, sensing the grave threat, instantly ceased their assault on Kelly and refocused on the menacing Phoenix. However, they quickly realized they were outmatched. Every strike from the Phoenix was devastating, preventing James and Allen from even getting close.

Under the Phoenix's control, Jerry's form rampaged like a wild beast. He ferociously attacked not just James and Allen, but also wreaked havoc on the surrounding soldiers. Tears streamed down Kelly's face. She recognized that this wasn't the true Jerry she knew and loved, but she felt powerless to intervene.
