Monday came around so fast and really, it was a sad day for Fedrick, knowing that he was transferring schools. His face was all pale and looking very unhappy. He laid on his bed face up staring at the ceiling as he thought to himself:

"I am going to miss my friends, my classmate, Mrs. Ana, my favourite teacher and all the fun in school, especially watching the Golden Cats train."

While he was lost in his thoughts 💭, still staring at the ceiling, he could hear his mom calling his name from the living room.

"Fedrick! Fedrick!!" His mom called out as she made her way to his room.

"Fedrick my boy, why aren't you ready for school? You know this is your first day at your new school, it wouldn't be nice and well spoken of you to be late." She said to him.

"Mom, I don't think I will be going to school today, I'm not really in the right mood today. Maybe tomorrow I will, but not today Ma." Fedrick respond with a long face.

Mom moved closer to his bed where he laid and then sat close to him. She held his hand trying to console him, she said:

"I know how you feel my boy. what happened last week at your former school Is sad and unpleasant. I know it hurts too. I have watched you train just to get inducted into the team and now it's all gone. But that isn't the end my boy, It's only the beginning of something better and greater. All you have to do is put on your boot and hit the tracks once again, you never know, the prize at the very end of this race 🏎 might be bigger and better."

"That's why I won't be letting you stay back home to cry your eyes 👀 out. You have to get up and get ready for school." She said as she pulled him up from the bed.

"Remember to say your prayers young man, it's very important you do." She reminded him as she walked out of his room.

Fedrick got up and knelt down beside his bed to say his prayers:

"Hello God, it's me again, Fedrick. I really hope am not disturbing you from attending to others in need of your attention? If I am, then I'm sorry they will have to wait, cause I really need to talk to you." At this point, the bedside where he laid his head was already soaked with his tears and his eyes red from crying.

"God, it's important I tell you all that's happening to me now, because I really need your help in this one. I don't think I can do this alone..." Fedrick continued his prayers.

Few minutes later he was done. He went straight into the bathroom, brushed his teeth, took his bath, prepared for school and was down stairs in no time.

"Good morning Mom, good morning Dad." He greeted as he walked straight to dad's car.

"Won't you eat your breakfast before going to school, Fedrick?" Mrs. Lionel (Fedrick's Mum) asked.

"No Mom, I'm not hungry. Just having a tight stomach". He answered as he walked out of the house with his bag pack.

"Poor boy, he's been like this since the incident last week in school. I have never seen him this sad." Fiona said.

"I'm really worried about him. He doesn't eat much again and is always moody. It makes me sad to see him this way." Mrs. Lionel added

"I know how you feel my love, but don't worry I will get him snacks on our way and I am sure when he gets back from school today, he would be fine. Soo don't worry yourself and enjoy your meal." Mr. Lionel assured her.

Soon Fiona and Dad were done eating their breakfast and together walked to the car. Mr. Lionel had to drop Fiona off at Infinite high school as she still insisted on continuing there. Thereafter, he drove off with Fedrick to his new school.

Some minutes later, Fedrick who had slept off in the car as he was tired and weak from having sleepless night, was awoken by the loud noise from students and high tone of a school bell 🔔. As he raised his head, he could see the environment and view of his new school looking through the window car. He was amazed at the size and liveliness. It Was really big and beautiful, although not as big as Famous High but it was beyond his expectation. Dad could notice Fedrick's face lightened up. With a smile his Dad said:

"I'm guessing you like what you see? I remember I did promise you I would take you to a better school and I am sure this is just right."

Fedrick who was still staring amazingly at his new school and its environment, couldn't even here his dad speak to him. As Mr. Lionel drove through the school looking for where to park his car 🚙, they came across a very large sign board that read on it:

'WELCOME TO INFINITE HIGH SCHOOL.'

Soon, he found a place to park his car. They both alighted the car and headed to the principal office 🏢, where they did the enrolment and the necessary stuffs. When Mr. Lionel was done with the principal, he was ready to leave for work, he walked to Fedrick, held his shoulder and said:

"Fedrick my boy, this is it and I want you to enjoy it. Try to make new friends and am very sure you will enjoy your new school". In no time, dad was out of sight.

Fedrick was taken to his new class, but this time around he was a senior. His dad requested he be promoted to a senior class and since Fedrick was very intelligent, it was allowed. He was asked to introduce himself to the class by his class form teacher, Mr. Chris Judge.

"Hello everyone, my name is Lionel Fedrick and I am a transferring student." He introduced himself.

"That's a nice name boy. Now I will do the honour to introduce everyone to you." Mr. Chris said.

"This is Feed Jane and her seat mate Anna, over there is Sophia and her seat mate O'Neil Jude. This is Philly Young and his seat mate Saint Febregas, this is Imes Favour and seating next to her is Manuel Catrage. There is Bull Ricky and his seat mate Fast Michael. On that seat over there is Michael Oliver and seating close to him is Anita." He introduced.

"Finally, on that empty seat is a very naughty boy who always comes late to school, but we all love him and you are his new seat mate, his name is Cat Fredrick". Mr. Chris joking said as everyone laughed.

Fedrick was ushered to his seat and given a locker where he could keep his belongings.

"Now, class properly welcome our new mate." Commanded Mr. Chris.

"Lionel Fedrick you are welcome to High Class two of Infinite High school!!" They shouted in unison.

"Thanks to you all. I wish to get along with you all." Fredrick responded.

"I want all of you to treat him as a family and make him feel welcome." Mr. Chris Requested.

"Yes Mr. Chris, we will". They all responded in unison.

"Good, I know I can trust you all and I want you to trust them too. They are your classmate, not just classmate but also trustworthy ones." Mr. Chris said to Fedrick

"Yes Sir, I will."

"Good boy! Now, go take your seat and prepare for lectures." Mr. Chris said to him pointing to the direction of two empty desks.

"Sure, thank you." Fedrick thanked him and walked down to the empty desk.

"I will be leaving now, but you can get me at the staff office 🏢 if you need me and I will be back again for the class roll call." Mr. Chris informed the class as he left the classroom.

Soon Fedrick was settled in, he had unpacked his books from his bag and seated where he was, thoughts came running through his mind.

"This is really beyond what I was expecting. The school is quite okay and am already having these good vibes feeling about it. I just really hope it turns out to be what I am believing it to be."

"Hey handsome! You seem to be lost in your thoughts." Anna said to him snapping her fingers on his face. This was a way to get Fedrick attention seeing he was really lost in his thoughts a while ago.

"I have been waving at you from my seat, over there (she points to her desk) for God knows how long, but you seem to be lost in your thoughts💭. If you don't mind, I will love to join you in your daytime fantasy." She requested, letting out a light and beautiful smile☺.

"Oh, am really sorry about that. I was actual lost in my thoughts, but it's nothing." Fedrick apologized with a smirk.

"That's okay. Apology accepted, I don't really keep to heart minor things and am letting you off the hook because you are a new student." She responded as they both laughed.

"Yeah, thanks for letting me off this one ohm… (he paused trying to get her name.) your name? I'm not sure I got your name yet." He asked.

"Yeah, you didn't get it yet, because you didn't ask. It's Anna Judge, that's the name." She introduced herself, letting out her hand for hand shake.

"Sorry Anna, is Mr. Chris your Dad, because I can remember his surname being Judge too?" he asked while accepting her handshake🤝.

"You sure are a smart one Fedrick. Yes, you are right, he is her Dad." Imes Favour answered.

"I am Imes Favour. You are welcome to our class Fedrick." She introduced herself stretching her arm for a handshake.

"OH MY GOD! Did he ask you, pork nosing Imes!! Or are you now bearing Anna?" Anna said jokingly.

"Oh, thanks Imes, nice meeting you. I really hope we get along." Fedrick responded to her accepting her hand gesture.

Just then, Cat Frederick, Fedrick seat mate ran into the classroom being chased by a teacher. He jumped over the desk to his seat where he hid his face so as to avoid being caught by Mrs. Eve Famous, a teacher in the school.

"Not again Cat, always being chased every morning. Don't you get tired?" Anna complained as she and Imes walked back to their seat.

"Catch you later Fedrick, enjoy the lectures." She said waving at him.

"Sure, later Anna and Imes." He responded waving 👋 back at them.

After some seconds, Cat raised his head and noticed Fedrick who was seating next to him. He pat Fedrick on his back,

"Well who do we have here? My name is Cat and am guessing you are a new student?"

"Yes, I am and my name is Fedrick".

"Really, you are my name sake!" Cat said with his eyes wide open and his head trusted out in show of surprise 😲, just like he was waiting for Fedrick to say something.

"Are you sure about that?" Fedrick asked.

"Yes, I am. My other name is Frederick." Cat answered.

"Oh, I don't think 🤔 so. My name is spelled F.E.D.R.I.C.K, Fedrick and I believe yours is spelt F.R.E.D.E.R.I.C.K as in Frederick."

"Wow, you are quite the smart one, aren't you? Anyways, its nice meeting you F.E.D.R.I.C.K, Fedrick." Cat said as they both laughed out loud.

"So as your seat mate, I will do the honours of showing you around the school during lunch break, but only if you are interested." Cat offered.

"Sure man, I don't mind. I actually needed a guide through school rules and environment."

"Cool! You've just gotten yourself one heck of a guide, because I could swear, I know every corner of this school more than I know my mom's kitchen." Cat joking said as they both laughed out.

"You know, I think am going to enjoy this school and have lots of fun." Fedrick added.

"Yeah you will my friend, you will. I can assure you that."

Almost immediately, a teacher walked into the classroom, it was time for lectures.

Three lectures of forty minutes each was held that morning and soon it was lunch break. Cat took Fedrick to the school canteen for some soft drinks and snacks.

"Here we are! Welcome to the school canteen where you get to enjoy delicious 😋 meals and food 🍲." Cat said as they walked into the canteen.

"Wow, this quite massive, I can see this school is really having a thing with feeding their students."

"You can say that again F.E.D.R.I.C.K as in Fedrick." Cat responded jokingly as they both laughed.

"I might not have told you this before, that this school was specially built for foodies just like myself." Cat whispered into Fedrick's ears.

"I can see that man, and I am surely one of them." Fedrick responded jokingly as they both laughed out loud.

Soon they were joined on their table by Anna and Imes.

"Hmm… you guys must really be having fun and enjoying yourselves. I could see Fedrick's white teeth right from the door. Hope we have not missed the whole fun already?" Anna jokingly asked.

"Not really, you both are just right in time." Cat answered.

"Good, cause am starving and I think we should get something to eat." Imes said.

They bought soft drinks and some snacks. They sat to eat, chat and have a view of the beautiful, noisy canteen, when three beautiful girls walked up to them;

"Hey Cat." The girls greeted.

"Hi girls, how are you girl doing?" he asked.

"We are doing good. We were sitting over there (pointing at the direction.) when we saw you, so we decided to come say hello." Girl 1 said.

"OHH, that's really nice of you girls. Anyways am good as always." He responded flirting with one of the girls.

"Girls say hello to my new friend. His name is F.E.D.R.I.C.K as in Fedrick." Cat introduced Fedrick as they all laughed.

"Hello F.E.D.R.I.C.K."

"Hey girls, it's nice meeting you and you can just call me Fedrick." Fedrick responded with a smile.

"Okay, Cat we will head back to our table now, catch you later." Girl 1 said as they left.

Yeah, catch you girls' later." Cat replied waving at them.

"Fedrick, another thing in this school is the girls, they are beautiful and fantastic damsels and as you can see am quite a popular guy with them, especially the beautiful ones. You won't take it from me that I am handsome." He said to Fedrick.

"You don't seem to miss every opportunity to feel proud of yourself, Cat." Anna jokingly said to him as they all laughed.

Some minutes later, they were done eating. Imes and Anna had gone back to the classroom, while Cat had to take Fedrick around the school to help him know more about the school and its rules.

"Soo, my friend, we are almost done with the tour, but not until I show you the best and most exciting part of our new school…" Cat said as he opened a door 🚪 to a large dressing room.

"Welcome to the dressing room of Infinite high school, the future champions of the Texas high school league." He said as he ushered Fedrick in.

"Woo! This is massive. It's too good to be true. I'm really enjoying this." Fredrick exclaimed with his mouth wide open and looking amazed.

"Yeah, I told you that you would enjoy it. Anyways, Infinite high school has never competed in the competition before because it took us a while to get the permit due to the limited facilities and being a new school then."

"But this year is going to be different, because we are fully ready to take them heads on. What's left is giving a suitable name to the team. The team name has not yet been decided. When that is decided, we will be ready to make a bit of history. We want to win at the first time of asking." Cat said showing a feel of excitement.

"It's really going to be an exciting journey, especially as this is going to be our last year in high school." Fedrick replied.

"Yes, it's going to really be an exciting but short journey, so we have to make the best out of it."

"So, can I be part of this team?" Fedrick requested.

"Why not? You can. We are still looking for players and you can also be part of the meeting today after school demises, to decide the teams' name. But you will have to register yourself and your preferred playing position."

"Okay, that's easy. I can do that. Infact, am so excited to do that now." Fedrick said excitedly.

"Soo, on our way back to the classroom lets visit the coach's office and get you registered."

"That will be nice, let's do that." Fedrick responded all excited as they both left for the coach's office.

Some hours later they were done with classes and were called for the meeting at the coach's office.

"Welcome everyone, I am Coach Rock Hat. Most of you who has been training with us should already know me well."

"I know how excited you all are about this project and so am I. It's going to be an exciting and interesting journey, but short for some of you because most of you guys are seniors who will be graduating this year. Soo, we should make the best memories out of this short journey." He continued.

"We are here to decide on the name that is suitable for our team and I want everyone who is here to contribute to this, even if you are here for the first time. Feel free to let us in in your ideas for a suitable name. now please can I hear your suggestions?"

For some minutes everywhere was rowdy and noisy as murmuring and discussions was on going for the right name.

"Coach, I have a suggestion. I think we should name the team 'The New Age', I think it's catchy." A team member, Monday Ben suggested.

"Sir, what about 'Rock Babies'. I believe it's a more catchy and lovable name and as our coach's name is Rock, it should fit." Hilton suggested.

For some seconds everyone quietly starred at each other, suddenly everyone burst into laughter with Coach Rock almost laughing out his face.

"Really funny Hilton, you ought to be a comedian and not a football player." Coach Rock jokingly said.

"Any other suggestions before we decide on our choices?" he asked still laughing 😂.

"Yes sir, I think I have a better suggestion." Fedrick replied.

"Coach, I have heard all our suggestions and no one really caught my fancy. I have been really good at naming things right from my kid days, so a name came to my mind and I really hope you all would like it." Fedrick continued.

"I think the name 'THE WILD CATS' will be better and it sound like a fierce and lovable name for our team." He suggested.

There was murmuring for some seconds in the room as everyone seems to be agreeing with Fedrick's suggestion.

"That is some fierce name for a team that wants to be taken serious in this year competition and I like it." Coach Rock complimented.

"But first, it is not for me to decide. Normally the school board is supposed to choose a name for the team, but they decided to make it open for suggestion to the team members and players, because they want us all to be part of this journey and know how important it is to be a family and not just a football team. Soo, we are going to vote on the three choices we have. The one that gets the highest numbers of vote wins."

They commenced the voting and soon they were all done casting their votes. After minutes of counting the votes, it was time to announce the team's name.

"I am honoured to announce to you all that the name of our team is officially 'THE WILD CATS'." Coach Rock announced.

Everyone was excited and loved the name Fedrick had suggested for the team. This was exciting and amazing for Fedrick who had just gotten his name into the school's history books 📚 and made fame for himself.

Ten minutes later they were done with the meeting and they all headed to the school bus as school had already dismissed.

"That was really nice, Fedrick. You really are good with naming thing and am proud of you bro." Cat said to him while on the bus.

"Thanks man. I couldn't do it without you having me join the team." Fedrick thanked him.

On getting home, Fedrick had a lot to tell his mum, dad and Fiona. Mrs. Lionel was so happy and relieved to finally see Fedrick happy again. They talked deep into the night, even after dinner as Fedrick couldn't stop telling them about his new school, friends and 'THE WILD CATS'.
