A bright light shimmered over my face after I woke up. It took me seconds to realize I was lying on a bed inside a white hospital room. How could I tell?
A heart monitor machine stood next to my bed and found me wearing a white medical gown. And a bandage covered my right shoulder where the mark burned at. Now I didn't feel it burn anymore.
“Jessica!” my daddy rose near my bed and hugged me like a giant freaking bear. “Oh, thank god! I thought I lost you!”
I moaned while rubbing my forehead. Uuuuuuuuh, my head was spinning! "I’m... Fine….. Daddy.”
He sat up and sniffed. “The doctor said you have a large bite on your shoulder. You have lost a lot of blood, but they gave you some substitute to keep you stable.”
“Thank god…..” I sighed while lying down against my pillow.
“Do you remember what happened?”
Uuuuuuuuh, my head was still cloudy. I rubbed my temple, trying to remember when-
“Oh, my god! Mark!”
I swung my legs off the bed, but daddy pushed me back. “Calm down! What happened?”
“Something attacked me! It probably got Mark!”
“Don’t worry. I will organize a search party for him. You need to rest before I take you back home.”
He was totally right. Freaking out won't help me save Mark.
I laid back, letting the air come out of my mouth.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
“Can you tell me why you were in the forest?” Daddy asked.
Dope! I also remembered the passionate moment I had with Mark in his car. If I told dad, he would keep me in the hospital for the rest of my life!
I bit my lip, trying not to answer. But since I totally didn't want to bite my lip too hard, I had to tell him something different. Thank god my daddy didn't have a bullshit detector. “We…..went on a hike!"
Daddy glared. “A hike? Close to midnight? I thought you were eating at Burger Queen.”
“Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! We did! We thought going on a hike would help us burn off some calories. It got dark before we left.”
Geez, he kept beaming his eyes at me. Perhaps he had a bullshit detector.
Luckily, he shrugged. “Did you know what attacked you?”
I rolled my thumbs around, hoping they would help me clear my mind up. “I’m…..Not sure. It looked like a wolf, but it was running on two legs.”
“Running on two legs? Was it a man?”
“No, it was a wolf. Not like anything I ever have seen.”
“Maybe it is a man.”
I glared at him. “I am totally serious, dad. It was a wolf, running on two legs. It attacked Mark, and it tried to eat me! I am not making it up!”
“Please calm down, sweetie. I will investigate. You need to rest right now.”
Uuuuuuuuuh! If it wasn't for my head spinning, I would have jumped out through the window to find my boyfriend. But I knew I could trust daddy. Except for that time, he ate my last twinkie! “Okay, dad."
He smiled and kissed my forehead. “I will be right back. I’m going to get myself some coffee.”
Well, nobody couldn't live without coffee. Dad told me that once when he got grumpy on me for spilling his cup. He got up and walked out through the door.
I stared at my bandage and stroked it. Still no arching pain.
Maybe I should let the doctors check on it, but what was the point? The agonizing pain felt gone now. And it could be ages before the doctors come back. Just one peek was enough.
When I peeled the bandage off, my face went "What the hell?"
The bite mark was gone. No teeth hole or even a scar on my clean skin. It still didn't burn when I touched it.
How in the hell did I heal so fast?
Urrrrrrrrrh!
I still needed to rest. Thank god I'm alive.
