As they continued their argument, a sudden rustling sound caught their attention. Kantaro quickly turned around, only to see a shadowy figure lurking in the darkness. It was too dark to see what it was, but he could feel an ominous presence emanating from it. The shadow, gradually approaching closer and closer, disgruntling and unearthly, sends chills down Kantaro’s spine.
Kimiko noticed the fear in Kantaro’s Eyes in Kantaro’s eyes and turned around to see what was behind them. Her eyes widened as she saw the unearthly figure. Stood, clenching against his back petrified with fear. She was as pale as a ghost at the sight of the monster. The beast growls restlessly with bloated bloodlust seething from its razor-sharp jaws emerging from the blanket of darkness. The monster, covered in pitch-black fur rested in darkness. And eyes glowing scarlet red, erupting with raw rage. It was a phantom wolf, it lunged straight towards them. Standing nearly 6 ft tall, the phantom wolf.
As Kantaro stared into the eyes of the monster, sweat began to pour as fear began possessing Kantaro. Shaking and quivering uncontrollably struggles to breathe. Kantaro had parents before but years ago his parents died of a monster. Back when he was a child, he couldn’t remember anything but the scent of iron musk and the blood-red eyes of the beast. Even so, he never forgot the eyes of the beast. The eyes he saw as a child have returned to haunt him once more. The monster which traumatized him and ruined his life stood before him. All he could think of was running.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
For most of Kantaro’s life, he has always run away from his problems or a shred of difficulty to make life “easier” for himself. Running is all he has known for most of his life. Everywhere he went death always followed. Everyone who got close to death always came to those around him. It’s because of this he was ostracized and deemed an outcast by all around him during middle school. Every time having to move from school to school because of the deaths that surrounded him. Eventually, he gave up and decided to do work instead of getting bullied and isolated in school. Though he can only keep a job for about a week or so until he has to find a new one.
In the monster danger meter, there are said to exist different types of level threats. The lowest level is E level and the highest danger level is M. Example: E - D - C - B - A - S - SS - SSS - M. An M class threat is an omniscient being that requires nations and armies to have the slightest chance against truly a calamity level threat to humanity. The phantom wolf is a B-level threat, no ordinary person can beat it without the chi/magic / some sort of anti-monster equipment. It’s known to stalk and hunt its prey. It feeds on fear cultivated from years of tormenting its prey. Some say it’s almost akin to a course as it can feast on bloodlines for years and remain unfound because of their mischievous ways.
Kantaro was terrified but knew he had to protect Kimiko. He grabbed a nearby metal pole and swung it at the monster, striking it across the face. The monster released a deafening screech, causing the street lights and windows to shatter into small pieces.
