The continent of Alorai. Home to many species and empires; humans, flayers, elves, dwarves and the nightlers. There are also beings such as sorcerers, vampires and dragons, but they are more of a rarity.
The Nightlers are a species whose lower body has a tale, comparable to that of a snake, and a human like upper body, but with more hair. They have seven fingers, five toes, one pair of hands and one pair of arms. Not much is known about them. They live on a group of islands, called the Sorlon Islands, in the West of Alorai, and are almost never seen on main land. On the rare occasion that Nightlers are seen on the main land, it is mostly for a short exploration or as an assassin. Those that have seen Nightlers in battle avoid the regions around The Sorlon Islands. The Nichtlers have a unique way of fighting. They jump over the enemy, attack in small groups, ambush hosts from atop the trees and fire poisoned arrows.
Humans, the youngest of all species. Ignorant and foolish in comparison to the other living beings of Alorai. Humans arrived on the continent about 2000 years ago on massive ships. Humans call this moment "The Great Finding", although for the other species it was everything but great. The place at which they had arrived had been inhabited by a tribe of dwarven outcasts. Without hesitating the humans butchered them and started building cities. The humans started arguing among themselves. and formed houses and empires. 496 houses were formed, eight empires, each consisting of 62 ruling families. Although over the years some noble houses went extinct or merged with others.
Flayers are a species of creatures that look like human-corpses. Although many who have only seen but not communicated with them think that they are monsters, that is not the case. They are very friendly by nature, and only attack when attacked. They have lived in the North of Alorai since the beginning of time. They are quite advanced and choose a leader every 100 years. Flayers have a lifespan of around three to four hundred years.

Dwarves are tall (unlike dwarves from other tales, the Aloraian dwarves are in fact taller than humans), fat, human like creatures whom have lived in Alorai for a very long time. They believe that when the first elves broke a stone a bunch of dwarves grew out of the tiny remnants of the rock that had just been smashed. Dwarves live in the South and possess a unique mastery in craftmanship. They have the most sophisticated machinery known to the world. They are ruled over by their holy king, Nollunbar, whom has ruled over them for as long as anyone can remember.
Elves look like tall, muscular humans. They have thin legs and bodies, although their chests are more muscular than the rest of the body and because of that the chest looks very thick. They are on average smarter than a human and have a higher chance of being born with magical powers. Most elves are born with magic, but the amount of magic is usually so small that it can't be materialised. This means that those elves who are born with such powers can feel when a dark entity, evil spirit or danger is nearby. You would think that this is a very useful skill, and in many cases it is, but quite often elves find these powers troubling. For example when you are visiting a family member whom you really like, you might feel a unexplainable tension between you and that person. The elves are a peaceful kind who worked together as one. They lived in great cities with beautiful architecture, every object, from a staircase to a bottle of wine contains the finest detail. The elven cities were spread over the East, although some cities could be found in the South. Cities in the South were not for the cowards, the elves that were sent there would fight the 10 000 year long war, The Long War.
