Chapter 1 – The birth of Mordecai
First let’s begin with the Orogs they were created by the humans for a simple reason Orogs were both smarter and stronger than the average orc, this ultimately made them great slave labour for the human kingdoms massive quarries
The process that was used to create Orogs was complex it included the impregnation of goblins,
(They don’t have a gender) and after their fertilisation they were lowered down into a grey nutrient sludge for a period of 5 months after that period the now dead goblin is raised from the sludge cut open and a fully grown Orog is removed.
The Orogs roars to life but before they are able to fully understand where they are something hits them in the head they can hear voices but they do not understand them soon they feels two cold things clamp around their wrists they resist like all Orogs but his movements are resisted by chains who strain under the pressure of arms wanting to be free.
“We’ve got a wild one quick get the branding iron and someone knock this animal out!”
Mordecai had been birthed just like the other Orogs but he can understand them humans now but before he can think further something incredibly hot pressing against his arm he screams and something hits him in the head and everything goes black.
Someone starts shaking him
“Wake up young one what is your name?”
It’s a gruff but friendly voice and for the first time Mordecai opens his eyes and suddenly a wave of pain washes over his body he groans and every fibre of his body screams in agony whenever he moves a muscle.
“Don’t move so much it will pass take deep breaths deep breaths”
Mordecai looks up to the other one talking it’s another Orog only then does he notice his surroundings he is in what looks like a cell one of his hands are chained to the wall
He speaks for the first time “my... my name is” he thinks a long while before something suddenly comes out of him “it... its Mordecai and where am I? Who are you?”
The other figure talking is an older Orog his hair has turned white with age “good to meet you Mordecai I am Haggo and I serve as the doctor for all newly born Orogs in this quarry I serve our lord Duke Richard Tames
Mordecai spits “I will not serve”
Haggo points to Mordecai’s left arm “your arm tells another story”
On the arm it’s been branded with the sigil of house Tames the same sigil can be seen on Haggos arm as well.
Mordecai grinds his teeth “what will happen to me?”
“You will most likely be designated for the mines if they find you to be strong and more vicious then your brothers then you might be selected to become a gladiator and your life will improve like mine did”
Mordecai looks at Haggo with disgust how can creature that claims to be an Orog be so weak how can he just stand there thankful for a life under the boot of his human overlords who only consider Orogs as nothing more than insects and tools to be used and thrown away…
I will show him I will show these humans but most of all I will show the Orogs of the Pit that Orogs are not slaves!
“Haggo how many Orogs are there in this place?”
Haggo thought for a minute “hmm well let’s see there is 10.000 in the silver mines, then 6000 in the Iron mines, probably 13.000 in the gold mines but the casualty rate is pretty high there so I’m not sure that makes it around 29.000 thousands of Orogs in this quarry.”
Mordecai looked in astonishment these humans can’t be that stupid to keep almost 30 thousand Orogs in one place? Maybe they underestimated the Orogs that much? He would have to see this for himself
Haggo looked at him “I know that face don’t think you are the first to think it Mordecai nobody can defeat our human overlords they have both swords and armour but also the manpower to back it up and even if you managed to get through that they have their most powerful weapon the fearsome thunder barrels, filled with black sand they can shoot Iron balls from great distances shredding anything even Orogs.”
Mordecai ignored his cowardice but his information was still valuable but I must focus on the present!
“Haggo when will I get out?”
“when I deem you fit I think a day or two will suffice until you have recovered, now it is time for me to leave I have other younglings to look after I don’t think this will be the last I see of you Mordecai” when he left, Mordecai could see a smile on his face
Coward was the only thing Mordecai thought I’ll show him but first he would need rest the revolution would not come in a day after all.
2 days later
Mordecai was being escorted by two Orog guards and a human overseer his body had mostly recovered from the harsh experience of his birth plus the ass kicking that followed, he was apparently being escorted to processing no idea what that meant though.

After walking for half an hour The guards and Mordecai stepped onto a Lift that took them further up while ascending it was only then that Mordecai actually saw the scope of the place called the quarry it was a massive Cavern probably a kilometre wide and a kilometre deep Truly massive the sounds of pick axes striking the rock was constant, there were thousands of Orogs slaving away in this place but he could see even more Orcs and Goblins the goblins seem to run around with water sacks so the Other Orcs and Orogs could continue he even saw a couple of Ogres smashing giant boulders with only one strike Impressive he thought.
But there was also another sound it was the cracking of whips he could see on several layers human overseers using their whips on Orogs who were slowing down from pure exhaustion. Orogs had incredible endurance but like every creature they also had a limit.
Soon the humans would be the ones in chains working away with Orogs holding the whip he smiled with that thought then he looked up.
In the ceiling of the Cavern a Large tunnel reached up it seems like that was the way to the surface Mordecai wonder how far down we are suddenly the lift grinded to a stop
“move” one of the guards said and gave Mordecai a push this was a grave mistake Mordecai was in chains so he could not move his arms but there was one thing he could do “I’ll move whenever the fuck I want shitstain” then he head-butted the guard in the face he could hear the Orog guards nose turning into mush and blood covering Mordechai’s forehead before the other guard could even react Mordecai followed up the head-butt with a kick to the Orogs chest but surprisingly Mordecai sent the screaming Orog flying through the lifts railing and into the dark chasm below.
The other guard stood with his mouth agape but quickly came to his senses he used his shock mace and struck Mordecai into the back of the head and once again Mordecai fell into the land of dreams.
Next time Mordecai woke he was tied down into a chair it was bolted to the stone floor no way to get out of this he looked up well this was very exciting two barrels pointed straight into his face two human soldiers pointed their weird looking sticks of wood with a metal barrel attached towards him.
But the interesting thing was not the soldiers or their strange weapons but the man sitting in front of him he was dressed in a black trench coat and a funny looking hat with a metal button at the front it had the depiction of a burning skull. (Think black SS uniform)
The aura of this man gave Mordecai the feeling of power and authority he was a man to be feared but fortunately for Mordecai he feared no puny human.
The man scribbled at some papers for several minutes then stared at Mordecai for a second before speaking
“Subject 1 you have performed beyond expectation I’m glad that you did not die like the others” then he smiled.
“What do you mean?” asked Mordecai with a sceptical look
“Oh yes my mistake I will tell you everything but first I must introduce myself I am Inquisitor Darius and I run this fine establishment known as the pit oh what am I saying this Place is a hellhole fit only for your kind, Mordecai but you are different and I’ll tell you why.
“you see you are not an Orog you may look like one now but soon you will change you see months ago I was commissioned by Duke Richard to make an even more powerful Orog that could give him the throne. I call your breed Orog-Magus you are superior to the average Orog in every way smarter, stronger, faster, tougher oh sorry almost went on an ability spree again well anyways you are my ultimate creation unfortunately you are a one of a kind it was very hard to create you I had to spend thousands of orcs to get the right kind of female that could create you it’s very unfortunate that she died in childbirth.”
“What do you mean my mother was an Orc?”
Darius liked that question it was written on his face “oh I’m glad you asked you see it’s not the first time someone had tried to breed Orogs and Orcs to create a stronger Orog but it would only result in three things, 50% of the time the female orc died, 49% it became another orc and 1% it became another ordinary Orog. Well I found the fourth option Orog-Magus but how I did it is a secret.
Darius Grinned
Mordecai was baffled he looked pretty much like all other Orogs he supposed that this is why he was able to kick that guard so easily and why the other guard had been so surprised. He still couldn’t bend Iron but who knows that might be a possibility soon.
But enough for today, guards please knock him out I want to know how he fares in the general population. Then before long Mordecai was again unconscious feels like there could be a theme going on here who knows…
