Chapter 1: Ressurection to another world

Chapter 1: Resurrection to another world

At the back of all the class, there is this row of people filled with those kinds of people; those who are doing nothing, those who want to talk with their friends and my category: those who are overthinking everything and do not want to meddle with others. I was the girl with the head laid on my hand, lost in my thoughts instead of listening to the lesson.

‘ah f***. I need to pay attention in class. It will be useful later on; it's not like my life’s going to end tomorrow.’ It would be pretty annoying to waste so much time in university and studies, only to end up dying before I made anything out of it.

The bell rang from the speaker; it was a tape, the same as yesterday and the days before. The professor dismissed the class and said his goodbyes. I got up from my seat, and people started forming groups and began talking. Some leave the class alone or in small groups. One guy, ‘Max’ ~I remembered his name~ came to me while waving his hand.

"Hey, would you be free to hang out a bit with the others in the class who would want to, so we get to know each other more?".

Before he even finished his sentence, I was already tired of socializing.

“Sorry I need to go to my apartment early today. I've just settled there, and I need to pass by the market” I declined with a fake ‘I'm so sad that I can't come’ kind of face. He just said, “kay sure” and left.

Good thing he wasn’t pushing more than that, but it was kinda irritating that he honestly didn’t give a damn if I was coming. Welp, I don't care anyway.

I simply got up, packed my things in my bag and left silently. It was already 7pm and most of the campus was calm, some people were smoking, others flirting… I left the campus and went to a small shop not far from where I lived.

The cashier greeted me “Hello dear client,” with a huge grin, I sighed; it was my friend, Midas. He was the only person I was comfortable with even if he was a bit… too joyful and speedy.

I waved my hand at him “Hello Mister, just stopping by to take something to eat tonight” I said while taking a pack of cup noodles.

He made a huge movement, mimicking an arrow piercing his heart. “You’re not even stopping by for your friend; how hurtful, my heart is broken” he said with a dramatic flair.

I rolled my eyes and paid for the noodles curry flavor. They were the best.

“You know I'm in university, right ? So I won't have much time to hang out ?” I retorted.

He faked a tear “Are you mocking me Madam? Just because I'm not in a university as cool as yours ? How cold of you to mock your friend like that; you might lose the only friend you’ve got!”.

I let out a slight smile, the first I had in the last few days “yeah yeah and you’re mocking me because you’re my only friend; you’re being mean too”

He laughed with a smile “You always have the final word! Well, hope you’ll stop by once in a while”.

I just smiled and said “Not in that apartment of yours; you really should clean from time to time.” while leaving the small shop.

Along my walk, I met with some locals. I waved my hand to them, forcing a smile; it would be annoying to be glared at because you seem odd after all, and it can avoid some complications. My neighbor was spacing out in front of his door before looking in my eyes. ‘Shit, will I need to do some small talk?’ I always hated small talk.

He stared at me, and I walked to my door, the moment the “click” of the key opening the door echoed, he started speaking “So you’re the girl who just moved out next door, uh?”.

‘And here I thought I could go away without needing to talk’.

I was almost going to sigh but held it back, “Yes, I won’t make much noise so there is no need to worry” I said with a smile which didn’t completely hide the fact I was a little pissed.

He let out an unsettling chuckle, his voice dropping to a lower tone as a vile look appeared in his eyes,“If you want some pocket money we can arr-” I just left to my apartment without listening to the end of his sentence in which he obviously would say something outrageous. I locked the door behind myself just in case. There’s crazy people everywhere.

“damn as*hole” I whispered. There were constantly people like that, it became monotonous after a while. It was tiresome to handle them all the time.

I was living in an apartment inside a complex near my university. It was a studio so tiny that it would be a scam to call it a “room”.

I took off my shoes, dropped my bag on the doorstep, and sank on my bed head first. This day had been tiring and boring more than anything. No need to say, I fell asleep quickly.

I felt light; where was i? I didn't know, it was like I was dreaming but it was real I could feel it. I was in space, in the middle of literally nothing.

I panicked and tried to move and breathe, I couldn't breath nor move. I had no body nor a need for air. I tried to yell and scream, asking myself “Where am I.”

I couldn’t feel anything since I had no body, but I could see and think. I looked around myself before stopping on something that emitted the light akin to a star but was obviously not.

It was a strangely majestuous light ball -how Can a light ball be majestuous- I asked myself before focusing again. I had a serious focus issue. I should work on it.

The light had a humanoid shape impossible to define or understand; she didn't know if it was big and far or small and close.

Then, from the depth of my soul, I heard it, an indescribable sound echoed through my mind. The light spoke… THE LIGHT SPOKE ?! How the f*CK does that make sense, am i dreaming ?! “Hello, young soul, no you aren't dreaming, you currently are a soul that I've picked out of the dead's land"

It made me pause, maybe to let me take a breath to swallow all of the information. A funny joke because I couldn't breathe… 'WAIT I.. WA.. WHAT… DEAD?? I WAS BARELY TWENTY!' I tried to yell but ended up just talking in my mind.

The light sighted like I was an idiot to doubt its words. "As I just said, yes you're dead. However, your soul wasn’t supposed to die right now. It seems like there was a problem that occurred. To rectify the situation. I will resurrect you, but I cannot bring you back to your original World and you will be sent to another one."

WAIIIIIITTT, I HAVE TOO MUCH QUESTION… HOW DID I EVEN DIE. Think, think, think, I need to make a sense out of this mess. It does not feel like a dream, so how could I have died?!

It sighted -again- “I’ve erased your death from your memory for different reasons: first; you shouldn’t even know what death is. Second; Your mind would break and you would go crazy. Third and last, it was an error and you shouldn’t have died anyway, at least this way.”

My mind went blank… can it erase memory? If so, it can also manipulate the mind right?

I almost went crazy at the thought, but I calmed down rapidly, I was suspicious that it was this thing’s doing.

The light’s shape where his face would normally be distorted. I don’t know how, but I could interpret that he was pissed.. “Please do not call me ‘thing’, and no, I cannot manipulate the soul. No one can. So I cannot ‘manipulate your mind’ but only calm you down with my presence. Memory is the only variable that can be changed in a soul.”

I was still doubtful, but I suddenly asked myself what I had lost by dying… My parents wouldn’t give a damn… I had no pets to take care of… But I had one friend and felt bad leaving him like that.

He had asked that I stop by, but I would never come back. I let out an imaginary tear at the thought, since I couldn’t cry properly without a body.

“if you want, I can erase his memory of you” the light said, like it was pissed that it had more work, damn self-centered a*shole. I thought about it for a second even if my decision was already made.

‘Please, don’t erase his memory.’ I was pretty sure of my choice but chose not to overthink it; it was egocentric, but I didn't want to be forgotten and die a second time.

Through all of this, I didn't even ask myself, ‘what was the light?’ A god? Or someone acting like a valkyrie, leading her to the afterlife?

“Yes, I am an existence that you could refer to as a god. Now, I’m sorry, but I don't have the time -or the patience- to continue this explanation. On this, good Luck with your next life" it said hastily.

‘WAIT, I HAVE MORE QU-’ I didn't even have time to finish my sentence. I was getting pulled into a hole. I pointlessly tried to resist and was gradually forced to sleep. I felt exhausted and lost consciousness.

Slowly something that I could only define as my ‘soul’ was being reshaped… No, it was more like it was ‘adapted’ to receive something new. The pain was indefinable, but it didn’t hurt a lot. It was discomforting.

After some time? Minutes? Hours? I didn't know how long it had been. I could start feeling things. I was receiving a body, it started by touch. I could feel a little pressure on my skin, moving slowly. It was wind. I could feel the air! There was air here!

Then came the smell, it was like a flower-like smell, sweet and somehow, pure…? I didn’t even have the time to process it; something was dazzling me. I could see. Well, not really, there was so much light that it was just TOO bright for me to see anything, BUT I COULD SEE.

I could hear the wind passing through my ears and hairs, and after a moment, a sublime voice. It was a woman, for sure. She was talking in a tongue I had never heard, a beautiful language that words cannot describe in its full greatness; it was as if every word was filled with emotion, which could caress your whole being.

After a while -a couple minutes- I could see a bit, there were humanoid shapes in front of me, I was a bit above the ground. Something supported me but couldn’t guess what; I could see nothing around me.

One of the humanoid shapes -I could see a bit better so I could tell it was a tall woman, maybe the one who was talking just now- raised her hand at me and something warped around me and slowly, gently, and kindly, laid me on the floor.

I had a body, but I wasn't moving -no, more like I wasn’t able to move yet-. I could see it and feel it, and it wasn’t my old one. It was a weird thought: ‘I’ve changed bodies.’ I was sitting on my legs. I was on something round, and the other humanoid shape was outside of it.

It was an… open bud? I was in the middle of a black and red flower that was half open; the leaf was still covering the petal. It was opening slowly.

I waited while sitting there, looking at the humanoid shape. I could see their faces now, but I was in shock; something was wrong. THEY HAD WINGS????? LIKE BUTTERFLY WINGS!!!! They clearly had a human body; were they Fae? There were a lot of women, men and even teenager, but no one under 15 or above 40 years old

They were around two or three hundred people in front of me.

I couldn’t think much. My mind was blurry; too many things happened in a short amount of time, and my body was… Tired; it felt numb? It had been a little over 10 minutes since I had opened my new eyes. One of the women took a slow step toward me, and climbed on the flower’s bud, and slowly came closer.

She went down to my height; she was beautiful, red eyes, a young face that looked like she was in her mid-twenties? Long, curly hair… pink? She started talking, even if I couldn't understand a word of what she said.

She reached out for my hand but stopped midway, as if she were asking for my hand. Strangely, I felt comfortable with her and took her hand. She got a huge grin from this, a shining smile, it looked like it was the happiest moment of her whole life. The people behind her erupted in cheers of joyful applause.

I didn’t understand what was happening, but my body was driving me to sleep… And so I fell asleep again.
