I screamed, dropping my keys and turning to run.
I sprinted as fast as I could in the opposite direction of that thing. After a few seconds, I heard it start to chase after me.
Not daring to look back, I continued running, my heart beating out of my chest.
What the fuck what the fuck what the fuck!
"HELP!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.
I tried running towards some of the other apartment buildings, but the dog ran around my side, forcing me to go a different direction. I then tried circling back around to head towards the social and entertainment district, but the dog did the same thing.
It's as if it was herding me, like some kind of fucked up sheep dog.
As I kept running in the only direction available, I noticed the place I was being led to. The old, unused part of campus that was soon to be demolished. The only part of campus where no one could hear my screams.
I continued trying to change directions, but the dog was much faster than me, and it instantly blocked every route I attempted. It could have easily caught up with me, but it didn't. It just continued to chase me towards the old, empty buildings.
Once I got there, I dashed into an alleyway way, hoping I could find something to climb that the dog couldn't reach. Finally, after running through countless alleyways, I saw a mesh fence at the end of one of them.
If I can just get over that.
I jumped higher than I'd ever jumped before, and grabbed onto the fence. I desperately tried to fit my feet between the gaps created by the metal wires. I finally got a foothold and started recklessly scaling the fence.
The dog was below me, jumping up and trying to grab my legs with its giant teeth. I was just out of its reach, and getting higher every second.
When I reached the top of the fence, I hurled my body over it and fell to the ground on the other side.
"FUCK" I screamed as I landed awkwardly on my wrist with a worrying crack.
With no time to waste, I clambered to my feet and started looking for a way out. The alley had walls on all sides, apart from the fence I'd just climbed over. I saw a door and ran towards it.
Please be unlocked!
I turned the handle, and to my relief, the door opened.
I dashed inside and looked around. It looked like an old classroom. Most of the desks and chairs had been cleared out, except for a few broken ones pushed against the walls. There was a chalkboard at the front of the class, barely recognizable under the curtain of dust covering it.
I saw a door at the other side of the room and ran over to it. I tried turning the handle, but no luck. It was locked.
BANG!
The door behind me slammed shut. I jumped and span around, but nobody was there.
My whole body was violently shaking, but not due to the cold. I had never been so terrified in my life.
Finally, a voice broke the eery silence.
"Hello, Tilly."
I looked towards where the voice had come from. It was a dark corner of the room, so dark I hadn't noticed the two figures sat watching me.
They stood up and slowly walked towards me. As the light hit them their faces became recognizable.
It was Jess and Theo.
"Oh thank god. There's some kind of rabid fucking dog out there! Do you have the key to this door? We need to get out!"
"We need to get out? Don't act like you're looking out for us. You'd feed us to that dog in a heartbeat if it meant saving yourself." Jess snarled.
"Jess, come on, we played a few jokes on you, but that thing could actually fucking kill us!"
"True. But it won't." She replied. "That wouldn't be anywhere near as fun as what we have planned."
Theo, who had been silently stood next to Jess, clicked his fingers.
A puff of black smoke rose from the ground beside him. The smoke started to clump together, forming a vague shape. After a couple of seconds, the smoke vanished, revealing the same terrifying beast that had just been chasing me.

I tried to say something. To ask what the fuck was going on. To plead for my life. But my lungs were too busy hyperventilating.
"Don't look at that." Jess said calmly. "He's not the one you should be scared of."
My eyes darted to Jess' face. She wore an evil, cunning smile.
"Jess-", I panted, "look, I'm sorry! The other girls, they made me do it! I'll make it up to you. My dad's rich. I'll give you whatever you want-"
"Ssh ssh sshhh," Jess interrupted, "It's ok. Give me your hand." She spoke like a teacher comforting a scared child.
Tears in my eyes, I slowly obeyed her, raising the hand of my unbroken arm and presenting it to Jess.
In a movement so quick I barely even registered it, she raised her arm and brought a large blade down on my wrist, cutting it clean off.
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH" I screamed in agony.
"That's for the constant insults and jokes."
I backed away, clutching my bleeding arm.
Jess stepped towards me, and slashed the knife at my face. It dug deep into my skin, and caught one of my eyes.
I screamed again. The pain was unbearable. My fight or flight response was going haywire. I couldn't even register what was happening to me.
"That was for laughing while I got the shit beat out of me every fucking day." She continued.
I had fallen to the floor at this point, my one working eye still locked on Jess. I tried scuttling away, but it was no use.
Jess took another step, standing over me.
She knelt down at my side, and placed the tip of the knife just millimetres above my eye.
"And this... this is just for fun."
She drove the knife down, and in an instant, everything went dark.
----------------------------------------
"Well that was fucking brutal." Theo said, walking towards Tilly's lifeless body.
"Thanks! I was rehearsing it in my head all day." Jess replied.
"Everything went exactly as planned. You're weirdly good at this."
"This is why I'm the smart one." She said with a grin. "Anyway, we're not finished yet."
"Yeah... now for the messy part."
Theo had flipped his coin earlier that morning, and had once again hit the 'clean up a murder scene' jackpot with the power he was given. After catching the coin, it had once again spoken to him.
"Ability 'Coin Flip' activated.
New power being assigned at random.
Power selected: Demon Dog - snap your fingers to summon a demonic dog to your side, which will obey your every command. Snap them again to unsummon the dog."
It was abilities like this that made Theo upset that they were only temporary. As he had just found out, that dog was fucking lethal, and no one would even know he was the one controlling it.
During a short practise session earlier in the day, Theo had found out he could command the dog simply by directing his thoughts at it, as if it could read his mind. It would be the perfect tool to wipe out everyone who had ever messed with him. At least he had gotten one kill out of it though.
Well, Jess had.
The more Theo observed her, the more he started to realise just how crazy she was. She had literally just tortured and murdered a girl right in front of him, smiling whilst she did it.
To Theo's surprise however, he was starting to feel... attracted to Jess. Which made no fucking sense what so ever. How could something so horrific make him like her even more?
Supressing those thoughts for another day, he put his mind back to the task at hand.
"I'm not sure if I want to watch this." He said.
"So you can watch a girl get chopped up and stabbed through the eye, but can't watch her get eaten by some demonic dog?"
"I'll be totally honest, watching you cut her hand off almost made me throw up. I didn't know humans had so much blood in them."
"You're such a fucking pussy. Fine, we'll leave the room, then you can give your dog its dinner."
"Thank you."
Theo helped Jess to her feet, blood dripping off her as she stood. Jess walked over to the door Tilly had initially tried to escape out of, pulled a key out of her pocket, and unlocked it.
"We're lucky the old teacher kept a spare in their desk. What would we have done if we couldn't lock the door?" Theo asked.
"Jumped her as soon as she came in the room. I have to admit, it was much more fun watching her get that slight glimmer of hope before I took it away."
"You're such a fucking psycho."
"I know you love it." She replied sarcastically.
But he did love it.
The two of them exited the classroom and closed the door behind them, leaving Theo's demon dog alone in the room.
Eat the girl, lick up the blood, don't leave any evidence behind, Theo commanded with his thoughts.
Sounds of growling, tearing flesh, and body parts being devoured echoed through the abandoned building.
Theo and Jess listened patiently for a few minutes. Then the sounds stopped.
"I... think it's done. That was fucking quick." Jess said.
"Would you mind having a quick look just to make sure?"
"You need to grow a pair." She retorted.
Jess slowly opened the door and peaked into the room.
"Holy shit, it really did get rid of everything. Have a look, there's nothing here."
Theo followed Jess into the room, and as she said, it was spotless. Well, apart from the thick layer of dust covering everything. One, human sized spot of the floor, however, had a little less dust than the rest of the room.
The dog was standing in that spot, looking at Theo.
"Shit, good job buddy."
"Are you seriously talking to a dog from hell as if it's a golden retriever?"
"That dog is gonna keep you out of prison, you better start showing him some respect."
"Don't get too attached, it'll be gone tomorrow."
"I know. Our beautiful friendship will be over way too soon."
"You're such a dork."
Theo snapped his fingers and the dog vanished in a puff of smoke.
"Well...", he said, "welcome to the murder club."
Jess paused for a second and looked like she was about to say something, but then stopped herself.
"Glad to join." She replied with a smile.
"I know I've been saying this a lot, but I feel like I should... feel a little more. We just fucking killed someone and it's like it's just any other average day."
"Humans killed each other all the time back in the day. It was the only way to survive. It should feel natural." She replied.
"Actually... if anything, it felt good." Theo admitted.
"Doesn't it?" Jess replied, excitement in her eyes.
"You know, you and I make a pretty good team."
"I guess we do, Galewood."
"So... what do we do now?"
"We go back to your place. This time I'll cook dinner, to say thank you for helping me with all this."
"Are you sure it's not just because my cooking sucks?"
"That may be part of the reason."
"Fuck you, Jess" Theo laughed.
The two of them then proceeded to make their way back to Theo's apartment, as if nothing had even happened. Just two ordinary students, coming back from a perfectly normal night out. A night that Tilly would never see the end of.
