Chaper 01

----------------------------------------

“Erika, are you still reading that book? You should sleep now as you have an early day tomorrow.” My beautiful yet weary mother gently scolded me.

Sighing, I closed the book and did as told. No matter how many times I re-read the ending, the fact that the character I was rooting for ended up dying still hadn't changed.

The book Exciting Love was a popular novel about an innocent queen who was brutally murdered by her own husband due to false accusations. The queen was supposedly the villainess of the story, so the King and the main female lead ended up together after the execution. I honestly thought the novel was of subpar quality at best. I mean come on, the author made the villainess’ personality so lovable that you couldn’t help but root for her then ended up killing her. It was also never revealed on who gave the false information to the King that ultimately led to the queen’s demise.

Though the writing was sort-of amateurish, it quickly became popular since the author did an excellent job in portraying the characters’ emotions. I also thought that the terrible ending caused massive resentment from the readers thus adding to the hype. It was amusing, at least, since it provided temporary distraction from the fact that I will have my heart transplant operation tomorrow morning.

Yes, you read it right.

In my 16 years of existence, I was always confined to the dull, white walls of the hospital ward. My weak heart was always a hinder to my life, but for the first time, I finally found a donor. My family and I have already prepared for this, however, I’m still scared ‘cause there will always be a chance that my body will reject the organ.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

I just hope that it’ll all go well.

----------------------------------------

The room that I woke up in looked unfamiliar and too lavish to be a part of the hospital. Peony pink walls, luxurious carpeted floor, and tasteful furniture filled my sight. Stunned, I sat up and immediately registered the soft feel of my bed. Honestly even I, who is somewhat ignorant when it comes to quality, could tell that everything here is expensive. Surely, I wasn’t misplaced in the hospital’s VIP ward, right?

I decided to investigate and maybe call a nurse to explain the situation. Passing by the boudoir (why on earth is there a boudoir in a hospital ward?), I stopped and did a double take.

Instead of my standard dark hair and dark eyes, the image of a golden-haired, green-eyed goddess stared back.

“Wh-what…”

Touching my face, I stared at the reflection and confirmed that it was indeed me. A severely younger but very beautiful version of me, that is.

A quick pinch on my cheek verified that I was indeed awake and not dreaming. Which led me to further confusion since the last thing I remembered was the image of the doctors telling me to breathe deeply as they applied anesthesia for the surgery.

However, since I’m in an unknown place with an upgraded physique, did I die?

I’ve read far too many isekai novels with protagonists having died in their ‘original’ world. I can safely reach the conclusion that I must have died from the heart transplant operation.

Next question is, who am I in this world?

Scrutinizing my reflection carefully, I realized that I looked eerily like a younger version of the villainess from that book, Exciting Love.

Oh hell no.
