Eliz stayed with Eren for a while and gave him instructions. And she took his pocket money. Not because she was an evil sister who bullied her timid brother. But because she did not want him to try to bribe anyone when he got some ridiculous idea that he desperately needed to see Selene.
Next, she sought out the head butler and ordered him to make sure she received all the letters for Eren and that he was forbidden visitors. He must always be accompanied if he wanted to walk around the mansion. The detox had begun.
Eliz was determined not to hesitate. She ordered a carriage, as she urgently needed to run some errands in town.
At that moment, Alobela appeared beside her like a ghost and uncompromisingly led her to her room, where she was not only dressed in more luxurious clothes but also forced to swallow a spoonful of medicine. Eliz refused, but Alobela calmly reminded her that she had fainted the day before.
Alobela was a tough nut to crack. She could not get past her, no matter how hard she tried to argue.
Finally, she swallowed the medicine and endured another change of clothes.
At least this time, she got a lovely dark blue dress with a light purple petticoat and a bodice that showed off her cleavage slightly and attractively. Her necklace remained, but Alobela added earrings with a purple gemstone in the shape of a blooming rose. Her hair was elegantly brushed into a low chignon, and she adorned it with a net of tiny pearls.
Eliz had to admit that the sight might even charm herself. She had looked good before. But now she could really easily take someone's breath away.
'If only it was not so much work!'
The carriage was pulled up, and her guard was ready. Eliz was not surprised; after all, it was typical for a young, wealthy, and unmarried woman to have a bodyguard. Eliz glanced at her guard, who was older and more experienced. She nodded to her satisfaction. She certainly did not need a young man drooling over her.
She bowed slightly to the knight in greeting, noting the insignia on his leather armor as a sign of gratitude for his company. He was an Enhanced Warrior of the 2nd Rank. Good enough.
Before she got in, she told the coachman where she was going.
"Take me to a shop called Enhanced and Prime." She said before being helped into the carriage. The guard stood on a small platform in the back of the carriage.
Eliz breathed a sigh of relief. Now she could calmly decide what she would choose as a reward. She opened the window, notifying her of the completed task again.
The second Side Task completed
Description: Get a follower Number of followers gained: 1 Reward: Roseblood Estate in the Eastern Province (Gained before completing the quest. Reward change)
New Reward: Choose - Unlock mana or Basic combat.
Achievements Gained: For gaining one of the main characters as your first follower, you gain Achievements - Big Sister.
Description: Achievements Big Sister - Your influence on your relatives has a stronger impact; children have more trust in you, and people with a younger sibling complex will look more favorably upon you.
Unlock mana or combat basics. Those were her options. Both were good; if she could have both, it would be absolutely perfect.
That way, she could become an Enhanced Warrior just like her guard. It was not exactly a unique concept, but Eliz liked it. In this world, there were five classes. Four combat classes and one non-combat class. Enhanced Runner, Enhanced Defenders, Enhanced Warriors, and Enhanced Mages. The non-combat class was the Maker class. Each of the classes had its advantages and disadvantages.
Enhanced Mages focused mainly on ranged combat, and although they could use offensive spells, they were mainly used as support since their casting speed was slower. Enhanced Defenders, on the other hand, concentrate on close combat and defense. Enhanced Warriors, on the other hand, had weaker defenses, but their attacks were more devastating and wide-ranging. Enhanced Runners focus on fast and accurate attacks; both ranged and melee. These classes also had subclasses.
The Enhanced Defender class included Guardians, Shield Bearers, Conquerors, and others that focused specifically on defense and resistance.
The Enhanced Mage class included Summoners, Casters, Healers, and similar classes.
Enhanced Warriors have subclasses such as Attackers, Berserkers, Lancers, Riders, and others.
Enhanced Runner subclasses are Archers, Assassins, Snipers, and anything focused on speed.
Finally, there are the Makers. Not everyone focuses on combat; this class focuses on crafting, such as Blacksmith Makers, Goldsmith Makers, Artifact Makers, etc.
All of these classes have one thing in common. And that is that they control mana. Of course, there are still those who are healers, warriors, and common blacksmiths or carvers. The author only mentioned them a little because they were not necessary to the story and were weak compared to the Enhanced ones, and there just had to be a power hierarchy.
Ordinary people without mana and Enhanced people with mana. For this reason, there were the ranks. The higher a person's rank was, the more powerful they were and the larger the mana pool and better the control they had over their mana.
A person's class depends on how they use their mana.
Enhanced Mages send out mana from their body, which is very difficult, and therefore there are fewer Enhanced Mages because they need to have high mana control.
Enhanced Runners use mana for their speed, reflection, and thinking speed because if the brain did not keep up with the body, they would be more like a rag doll where the head does not know where the limbs are.
Enhanced Defenders use mana for their muscles, bones, regeneration, and armor.
Enhanced Warriors also put mana into their muscles but use the rest for their weapons, which thus gain sharpness and penetrating power and can perform various attacks through the weapon.
And Makers, in turn, put mana into items that give them various attributes, such as increased defense, luck, long-distance communication... Eliz did not know much about how the Makers worked. This is also the author's fault because none of the main characters had anything to do with them. She only knew what they could do but not how. When she thought about it, she could only assume that it had to do with what material they were using. She would have to look at it more closely to have a vague idea of how it worked.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Of course, all the main characters had access to mana. Gray and Chad were Warriors, Donovan was a Defender, and Eren was a Runner. Even her brother Eren. And so was Selene. How could she be anything but an Enhanced Mage Healer? And Elizabeth? A schemer. Eliz had not thought much about it when she read the novel; after all, the author had done so many stupid things, but why was Elizabeth the only one who did not have awakened mana?
Eliz thought about it for a while but could not think of an explanation.
Instead, she focused on the selection again. There was not that much for her to think about. She could learn to fight by herself, but awakening mana was the hard part. So she decided on Mana Unlock.
Eliz slumped in her seat in surprise as she felt a strange sucking sensation over her stomach. It did not hurt, but it was not pleasant either. It lasted a few minutes, but then it was over. She hoped there would be some kind of warning about what to do, but it did not appear. She would have to figure out for herself what to do.
Instead, a window popped up with a new task.
Quest Updates New Main Quest !!! Description: Survive the Second Sequence Reward: 1x Revive Failure: Restart Sequence or Death Secondary Quest (Unchanged) Description: Reveal the truth about the story of Everybody Loves Selene Reward: End of cycle Failure: Restart the cycle New Side Quest !!! Description: Keep Eren on your side until you leave for Blue Rose Estate. Reward: Random Bonus Failure: Death of Eren
Eliz frowned. The death of Eren? Okay, she could understand if they were trying to get Eren back, but why would that cause his death? Eliz ran her fingers over her lips thoughtfully. Was it possible that Eliz had already disturbed something so that Eren's manipulation would be more complicated? And if you are not with us, you are against us? And preferably dead?
Eliz could not let something like that happen. Eren is a precious resource! But according to the description of the task, she had time. Today, she did enough to ensure Eren's safety. When Eliz returns, she will have to do more.
She closed the window with her thoughts and opened her status window instead. Well... let's call it that.
Name: Elizabeth Von Roseblood Role: Minor Villainess Position: Visitor number 245 -> 247 Cycle number: 1 Number of available revivals: 1 Number of failures: 0 Number of followers: 0 -> 1 Finance: 1500 gold -> 3500 Property: 0 -> 1 Roseblood Blue Rose Estate in the Eastern Province Achievements: - Big Sister Bonuses: -
It had quite a few changes in it. It was nice of the system to highlight them.
"Hmm?" Eliz grumbled when she saw the single red marking. Her Visitor number had increased? Because of what? Eliz did not understand this number at all. What did it mean? Her first thought was the number of people stuck here before her. That was the only thing that made sense to her. But it could also mean how many real people were present. But she did not know. Real people... Eliz could not decide if she considered all these people she had met so far to be real. She had read about them, they were fictional, and suddenly they were not. But here, everything seemed real... Eliz decided to postpone these thoughts until later.
She rested for the rest of the trip and just tried to think about what she needed to do.
Before she knew it, they arrived at the Enhanced and Prime store.
Her guard helped her get out, and the coachman took the carriage somewhere to park before returning to wait for her orders.
Eliz glanced around the store. Enhanced and Prime was owned by the Dwarf Maker, who made various items. The best makers were, of course, the dwarves. A few of them are fighters, but most of them are craftsmen.
Eliz was currently in a major city located in their territory. Along with the title of duke, her father was given the territories to manage and taxes to pay to the Royal Crown. Of course, the capital was under the care of the Royal Crown. It was also the biggest money-eater and the most prosperous city in the kingdom.
But even if Eliz could find everything in the capital, it was far away, and why would she go far away when what she needed was close by?
The city she was in was called Veden. Although it was not large, there were many stores there, and people from the surrounding towns and villages often traveled there. The reason was that Veden was connected to the main trade route, so many merchants passed by here. There is a wide range of goods here. And smaller stores flourished here more than in the capital.
For this reason, the master maker Karanel of the Frosthound clan, settled here. Karanel Frosthound.
The author mentioned him two or three times in the story, and Eliz assumed that he played a more important role later in the story, but she remembered him for another reason. The description of his appearance was so vague that she imagined him as an oversized walrus. That had made her laugh at the time. Now she wondered if he really looked like that. And, of course, he was also described as a master creator. MASTER. So his item expansion had to be of the best quality.
She looked at the store in front of her, which had a stone foundation, but most of the building was made of wood. The wood was beautifully carved, making each piece look like a work of art. Still, the store did not look plain. She could see tools, but also scenes of dwarves...doing something. Now she regretted that the author had not gone more into the history of the other races. There were probably some scenes from the history of the dwarves, but she knew nothing about them - another thing she had to catch up on. At least find out the basic history of the other races.
Her guard stood next to the store entrance while Eliz went in. The bell rang lightly as she opened and closed the door.
Eliz looked around.
The store looked surprisingly neat and tidy. She did not know why she had expected the store to be so messy.
There were goods on display everywhere, some loose, others in glass cases, all carefully stored, labeled, and sorted by type or price.
Eliz glanced over at the dwarf sitting behind the counter, his magnifying glasses on his eyes as he did a little work on... on a spoon.
Eliz approached without saying anything. The bell clearly announced her presence, which meant that the dwarf had to finish his work first.
She looked at him.
To her disappointment, he did not look like a walrus.
