The warmth of the gulf air brightens the souls of the sailors. It's been 2 weeks of travel, thank Neptune for the calm seas. We landed at what looks to be a tropical area, I have sent my best scouts out to recon this unknown paradise. We have set up our camps and have men cutting down trees for walls. We have little to no information on this strange land, an attack from some unknown barbarians would be unfavorable. My century is getting back in shape after 2 weeks aboard, they have become sluggish and lazy. have ordered for 100 logs, one for each solider. They will lift, sweat and bleed till they are back to my minimum expectations.
"Titus" A servant girl outside my tent called for me. "Yes servant" I replied. "Legatus Crius calls for you" she continued. As I walked I could see the building of engines and shops. "Centurion" Crius said with a stressful wane "We need more coal and metal, send your man to find it." he finished. "Yes sir, my men will be right on it." I replied.

2 weeks later
The scouting report has come back, they found tribes. They also found small deposits of coal, I have sent my men to secure them. Now my biggest concern is the tribe near us, I am preparing for a visit to them. The report said they have no serious weapons of concern and no walls, however I wouldn't be surprised if they have elite scouts, That means I can't march to them that would ruin the effect of the surprise. We have no idea how good their military is, it would be a mistake to underestimate them so have battle plans prepared for this event. since I have control of only 100 men I will circle around and make it appear that we came from the north so that if we do lose they won't know were are camps are.
3 days later
My men are ready so we stalk the woods. It was a pretty decent travel on foot, we have flanked to the north and will wait for nightfall.
couple hours later
It is our time to strike. marching into their lands singing as loud as we could. At least half the tribe's men come out in a battle formation, no more than 60 men of a age range between 16 and 50. They have spears but as we expected no need to prepare for phalanx. "MEN MARS FORMATION" I yelled, the mars formation was my own creation it involves the first rows shields going up and the next rows preparing for combat. "Charge" I commanded, the mars formation is a fast but violent tactic. These men have little to no combat prowess it took just 15 seconds for them to run.
