Chapter Eleven:Unexpected Developments

It had been about 4 months since the town was dropped into the Plane unexpectedly. By every measure, Lodras was massively successful, with more food, less enemy threats, more unity between the people, and even mana had been explored and developed quite well. Every profession had found a way to improve their service or good, from construction being more sturdy to singers being able to draw out more emotion from their audience, to writers being able to more clearly express their actual intent. Cillas had been stuck with the hyper dense, but flat, spiral. he had been able to grow it significantly, but at the rate he was growing, he would soon begin to seriously lag behind his trained soldiers, to say nothing o f his generals, state leaders, and dedicated scholars.

Mog had even finished his personal masterwork, lining the entire road to Oasis with thousands of depictions of Ordella and Khaoli. Most surprising at this time was that, upon completing the final statue and placing it in its proper place upon the road, the entire road and every single statue had grown extremely bright, glowing enough to temporarily blind every person who happened to be nearby. When the glow faded, the roadwork itself had been massively upgraded, becoming much more intricately detailed and having stronger mana infusion, and workers quickly noticed that they traveled faster and with less fatigue along the whole road. It had been declared a blessing by the sisters, and several had even begun the plans to build a temple in their honor. Unsurprisingly, faith in the gods from their previous worlds was rapidly declining, although the church had been clever, simply adapting the same old teachings to the new twins.

Unfortunately, the good tidings were not to last. On this morning, exactly four months since their arrival, the entire sky had turned red and ominous. No one knew what was going to happen, and all were nervous as the day slowly crawled by. Finally, at noon, the world itself seemed to rumble and quake, terrifying the populace when something worse than Cillas could have ever imagined occurred. The sky itself shattered, and the face of a man the size of the moon in the sky appeared and started speaking,

"Congratulations on your survival of the introduction! We god-kings decided in the past that five years is too generous, and newly introduced civilizations tend to collapse into internal turmoil and corruption and greed, so the five year period has been shortened to five months, with the last month being the introduction to the lesser monsters. Now is the time to shore up your defenses, and to unite in one purpose: Survive!"

During his entire speech, the sky itself had been continuously shattering, as if one pane after another of glass had broken, revealing ever more colors and panes, each one shattering quickly. When the head spoke the final word, 'SURVIVE', The final pane had shattered to reveal a daytime sky full of the most bizarre formations; it was like looking at the night sky, with stars, streamers, galaxies, and even some large satellites visible, and this was during mid-day!

As the people began to return to daily life, although with more weight on their shoulders than ever before, something incredible happened. Like watching an inverse shock wave, the air itself rushed inwards from beyond the mountains to the heart of the city, and it brought with it mana; the air itself had been charged with mana, leaving behind the unfortunate result of having disordered things in Lodras once again, knocking things here and there.

With the event of the last few minutes, Cillas only had one contribution; "Well, Shit."
