"Did you bury a bunch of guys in concrete?" Katherine asks coming down from the stairs in cut-off shorts, and suspenders, but nothing else.
Smiling with a tilt to her head and a thorough appreciation, she answers, "Two men, one woman. Why mon amour?" Kicking the shoes stained gray off and slipping the jacket from her shoulders.
"I saw it!" Katherine says, "I was getting some more wine, we're out by the way, and I saw you. You called yourself an Elder, and you put them in time out for ten years. It seemed very nice compared to murder."
Eleanora nods, "Final death is…too much. Murder has weight when immortality is on the line." She admits, coming to Katherine with a softly happy look to her. "In a decade, they'll have their senses back, I'm sure." She stands on the tips of her toes, rising for a kiss.
The kiss is returned with glee, "Or at least out of their networks for ten years. Though, does that matter as much to you?" She wonders, "I guess the time scale is different."
Smiling, Eleanora shakes her head, "Ten years after that, they'll have rebuilt. I just want them to understand that attempted murder is wrong. We're not mortals anymore, you can't just…" She twists her face annoyedly, "Take an infinite life away, not without good reason."
"I guess, I'm kind of lucky in that respect. My eternity is loops that can't ever be taken away." Katherine wondered, before saying, "Also I ordered grocery delivery for tomorrow? So we'll have food. Also weights, so I can work out. I normally spend about an hour or two lifting weights every day unless I'm resting." She pulled out her phone, showing Eleanora, "I used my own money for most of it, just in case it wasn't Ok."
"My money is your money." Eleanora declares, prodding Katherine in her chest with a finger, before relaxing, "I apologize amour, I get irritable when handing out punishments." She breathes out, that small outburst apparently unacceptable.
"You are very sweet to care. The LAPD just shoots people. Or their dog. Sometimes both." Then she thought about it before leading her by the hand to the sitting room, readjusting the suspenders, "Mostly both, actually."
"I remember the police here." She nods, sitting down and then tugging Katherine into the same seat, resting her tightly wound curls on her chest. "During the riots… twenty years now? They shot at my home thinking someone dangerous was in it. Only daylight saved them." There's a mild annoyance to that statement, like remembering when someone chipped your paint.
"The police force is almost entirely why I'm no longer a detective," Katherine replied, gently patting Eleanora on the head, a second nature to her. "I just realized that I'd never get to stop covering for other cops' behavior. At first I was scared to get out, then I realized that everyone knew and no-one really cared."
Sighing again, Eleanora sighs, "I am extremely familiar. You would not believe the idiocy of my kin. Constant coverups before I left the position of Sheriff." She recalls the memories distastefully, "Like herding bloodthirsty, murderous cats."
Katherine affirms with a quick noise, before continuing to pet the other woman. It was so… Nice… Being out of the sandbox, but now things… Felt odd. Out of control. Knowing that Eleanora was so dangerous helped with that, it helped her feel safe. A timer went off on her phone, and Katherine went, "Uuuugh."
She looks at Eleanora for a moment, "I have to take my meds, hold up." It was barely a minute to do, but it irritated Katherine so much that she had to interrupt herself constantly. They went down the hatch with a glass of water from the sink and she quickly returned.
Nestling back into her, Eleanora continues, "Six decades of that idiocy, night in, night out. Until I finally couldn't bear it and went back to the homeland for a few years. Then I remembered…" She pauses, thinking on the right words, "I remembered why I left, the putain de politique." She's being honest, open, fully accepting of Katherine's reactions, either a test or a show of how comfortable she is around the other woman.
"Is politics worse in France? I guess a lot more beheadings?" Katherine responds, with a tilt of her head.
"The politics is the same." The vampire answers, "The….politicians are worse, or, better, better at being worse."
Katherine took a calming breath patting her on the head, letting her slow breathing set the tone, "Considering you just buried ten people in cement, I'm going to assume that means pretty bad. Are you okay? Like, head-wise I mean?"
Taking a comfort in the pulsing heartbeat of her amour, Eleanour nods, "I do not need to worry of thousand year machinations in America, it is a free land." She looks up at Katherine, staring deeply into her eyes.
"Also, only like two-hundred years old to begin with." She added, before looking back at Katherine, "Wait were they… Mad at this?" She pointed at Eleanour then Katherine and back. "Not us specifically I just mean the concept. Vampire and uh… Leech? I can't imagine women loving women is what bothered them."
"Oh, no-well. I'll have to explain us to the Prince. Ghouls-What your type of person is called in english." She stops to explain, "Are very much on the edge of law. The secrets of the blood must not be shared, the Masquerade never breached, but." Eleanora smiles, "The law bends for the powerful. And I certainly have some power."
"Are… They nice? Or… Affable? I guess? The Prince, or should I not even be asking that." She takes another sip of water before setting it back down.
She brushes Katherine's collarbone at the question, smiling, "Ask me everything, mon amour, I will answer without fear or hesitation." Before actually answering the question, "He is…a good leader, but very…time has taken its toll on him, torn out much of his humanity. I fear he only has…decades left before the man that was is gone."
Katherine goes back to petting Eleanora, taking a deep breath, "Maybe he should get a Ghoul. The idea of getting a cat is what kept me sane for a long time." Then with a laugh, "I could have just gone to a shelter, but I get… Panicked when things aren't always how I imagine them. I like surprises, but I don't like bad surprises. Even neutral surprises get me a little bit."
"Being smaller than you is interesting." The vampire admits, "I feel very comforted by being able to…sink into your embrace? But…I also feel as if I cannot hold you as well."
Trying not to laugh, Katherine said, "Well probably because you'd be smothered." Then adding, "At my height pretty much everyone is smaller than me. I like it though, it makes me feel… Strong? Like a shield."
"Have you tried to test yourself, mon amour?" Eleanor asks, shifting to reposition, looking back up at the taller woman.
She looks at Eleanora, blushing, "I- I- How di- did you know?" Giving a somewhat shocked look saying… "Avez vous dit tester ou toucher?"
Fangs slipping out at the sudden excitement, a sign of enjoyment, or arousal as Katherine has long found out, "Que veux-tu admettre?" A soft, calm question as her hand rests on Katherine's leg.
"I think… this time I'll admit nothing." She says quietly, "What did you mean by test?"
"Your body, your…strength. Your…healing, everything is more with the Vitae." She speaks slowly, using words carefully, "Perhaps double your…weights. Else they may be light."
"Oh! Awesome, though worrisome, I think I might have to buy a better weight bar then." Katherine thought to herself quietly, "I was on a weight team, I was actually training for competitions, but I never competed."
"Can you not go to a…gymnasium?" The vampire asks.
"I want to be here, in case you need something." She said, then added, "I… Don't go out during the day generally. There's a ton of people around, I get nervous in crowds. Quieter at night, when everything is thinner. Noises, people, stimuli in general."
"Then, mon amour, buy the best. Consider it a gift from me." Eleanora shifts, trying to lean up, and annoyedly rolling her eyes when all she can reach is Katherine's neck.
Stolen novel; please report.
"Do you want to swap?" Katherine finally said as Eleanora shifts and moves.
"No." She whispers, kissing and nibbling, fangs threatening the other woman with every movement.
Katherine smiled, giggling, "Is it still too soon for food jokes by the way?" Looking at the other woman. "The whole thing seems a little silly in a good way, but I don't know how weird that is for you."
Pulling away for barely seconds, Eleanora answers, "Say whatever comes to mind, mon amour, your voice is all I need." Before diving back onto Katherine's neck.
"You're going to regret saying that at some point." She giggled, putting a gentle hand on her leg. "Does biting always feel like… Amazing?"
"Every time, whether I drink or not." The vampire answers, dragging her fangs just on skin after, sending little pains through Katherine's body. "I could just bite, again and again. Shock you with it at any moment." The smile on her face grows wicked, very focused suddenly.
"That rules," She says quietly, stars in her eyes. "I'm very okay with that honestly, except for maybe in the shower unless you're sure you could stop me from hitting my head if I slipped."
"I can." Eleanora answers, "I can be very strong, if I want." Her tongue laps against Katherine's carotid, feeling the pulse underneath and tensing in tune with it.
"Is there anything I could learn or work on to make you happier?" She asked Eleanora, "I have a ton of free time, so I decided to learn more french. Work on making sure I eat better. Is there anything I could learn or do to make your life easier?"
"The most important thing you can do, ma Katerina." She whispers, "Is be happy. My heart no longer produces…feelings such as yours." It's a mournful exclamation, "It is too ancient. When I sup from you, I am, briefly, for a few days, alive with your life, with your love, with your brightness." And then the mourning passes, replaced with a smile.
This actually causes a little bit of sadness in Katherine, and she tries to hide the moment. The little pinch of fear, before realizing that the fear may look… Bad… "The medicine… It's for… Not being able to always be happy."
"I know, mon amour." The vampire answers, still looking with abject adoration in the blue pools that are her eyes, "And when you are not happy, I will be your…how do you say?" She frowns, thinking of the word to use.
"Stone?" Eleanora considers, finding it not quite right. "Support?"
"Support works, or foundation." Katherine finishes for her with a smile.
Nodding firmly at Katherine's words, "Your foundation, yes!" A moment's excitement at the words used. "I must learn more english, I have someone to speak with now." She purrs, leaning back into Katherine's neck, resting her cool forehead there.
"Your touch is really soothing," Katherine said, pressing her hand gently to Eleanora's face, "Like a breeze."
"Une brise?" She giggles to herself, "You are very sweet, Katerina. I've told you this many times." She looks out at the room, "You've eaten, yes?" She asks, trying to find residue of a meal anywhere.
"Yeah, my eyes were bigger than my stomach, but I had a few bites of food." Katherine responds, not quite answering the question directly. "Like… Six."
"Six bites? Mon amour, dis-moi la vérite. Tell me the truth." She asks, brows furrowing with worry.
She looks at her wincing a bit, "I didn't count like exactly, I had about a… quarter of a burrito." Then trying to justify it she adds, "It was really big so…"
"Hmm." She furrows her brows deeper, lip quirking as she thinks on how to solve a problem. "Is it your medication?" Eleanora asks, trying to find a reason she can accept as to why.
"Sorta? Some of it kills appetite, other makes me nauseous. It's hard to remember when you're a little queasy and the hunger part is just dead." She admitted, "A lot of the time I forget because of that."
Giving off something between a noise of annoyance and a noise of worry, Eleanora nods, "We must have the physicians see you soon, what can be done to help." Brushing Katherine's arm with her hand, she continues, "Until then, I cannot give you the Kiss."
"That's ok I guess, can you still bite me?" She asks curiously, looking at Eleanora.
There's a moment where pure confusion rattles through the vampires face, before catching up with what just happened, "Ah, mon amour, that's what we call it. The Kiss." She smiles finally at the misunderstanding, breaking her frown. "I can still kiss you, whenever you like."
"I'll try to be better about eating as well, it's important for my macronutrients anyways it's not like you get this body without work and fuel." It was true, Katherine would sometimes spend hours in the gym or doing body exercises, and she normally weighed her food like a merchant until recently.
"Good, we can't have you looking like me." The vampire smiles, "You are much too beautiful." She strokes a hand on Katherine's forearm, feeling the muscle under it with a keen interest, each individual fiber attracting a glance.
"It sounds different when you say I look beautiful," Katherine says looking at her face, "You say it like… You're seeing something real? Seeing something…" She tries to find a word for it, in English or French, and decides on "Apprécier? Appreciated, but like… More? Different?"
Eleanora thinks, considering the words for a long moment before answering, "I see every part of you. How it…comes together. A…divine-no. A divinity to you." She continues to look at the muscle of Katherine's forearm, "Sculpted, honed, practiced and striving for perfection."
Katherine turned to a blushing red at that, she so rarely got compliments, and she wasn't quite sure how to handle them yet. "I… Um… Thank you… That's so nice."
Biting her lip at the response, Eleanora obviously, visibly, controls herself. Slowly starting to piece together words after that system shock. "Mon amour, you must learn to take compliments better." She smiles, "I don't know how many of your shy words I can take without…how do you say? Losing it?"
"That's it yeah," She says with a smile, before biting her tongue just the tip. "I've got a Doctor's appointment, but you said you had a doctor you wanted to use? Like a better one?" She scratches the back of her head, "I have Kaiser, so it took me eight months and when I first tried to get a diagnosis, and they gave me the wrong number for a suicide help line, any time I try to change my medication it takes another two or three."
Her face stiffens, a cool rage billowing in blue eyes as flecks of black start to flow into them before a controlling breath out. "I see. I will…get you something better than that filthy organization." Her fingers tap idly at Katherine's leg, "And…if you would, mon amour, give me the names of those who did this to you." The second request is more…chilling, a very even, loving voice asking for it.
"I need my laptop at my apartment." Katherine admitted, "To login to my webportal, I could do it on my phone but it's a pain, I'd have to go through my inbox. So maybe later, I'm happy here right now."
Over the next few days, Katherine and Eleanora worked on getting Katherine's life set-up, and in a way improving Eleanora's. The Vampire was able to find much better doctors than Katherine had ever had before. Diagnostics and specialists seemed lined up to talk to her, and after a few hours of rapid conversation, and previous paperwork being transferred over, a new treatment plan had been written. It had only taken a few days, to do what took Katherine a few years to accomplish. Under a new name medicine delivery was set-up, and she was able to get medication that was, at least somewhat, effective
