The Uprising
Prologue 2

Prologue 2

The Monarch stood before a large window at the top of a fifty three story office complex and slowly stroked his chin as he took in the sights outside the window. The room was incredibly dim with the only illumination being supplied by a computer moniter situated on a desk just behind himself, the hum of the CPU's fan the only sound echoing softly in the room.

The days had been getting shorter and shorter in the past few years, as though the planet was drifting further and further away from the sun. Of course, this wasn't actually the case but there wasn't really any other explanation most people could come up with for this strange phenomenon.

Unbeknownst to the general populace of the world was the fact that the Monarch was responsible for this growing concern. His own personal research had began to bear fruit and the day he would truly conquer this world wasn't too far off now. A year or two maybe? He didn't really care how long it took him but he still couldn't contain his excitement as he thought back on the many centuries it had taken him to get this far.

That's right, centuries. The Monarch himself was the first person to successfully awaken to supernatural powers that could barely be explained scientifically. Of course at the current time he was also in possession of unscientific powers as well, but that was besides the point.

Thanks to his almost godlike powers he was able to slowly but surely fill the atmosphere with his own special form of particles that could block off light and heat emmited from any external source from the world's own body. Almost every form of cosmic energy was slowly being rejected from the world and all manner of reliances from outside sources were being controlled by him.

Gravity, UV radiation, luner rays, daylight and gravitational fluctuations were all being reproduced by the Monarch himself. He had an almost limitless source of power at his disposal.

But he still chose to enact those many disgusting and perverted laws just to sate his own greed and curiosity. The biggest factor in his endeavour to grant the people these powers as well was so that he could get some entertainment in the form of rebellions. He was gradually getting tired of being the strongest in the world and wanted to find someone capable of exchanging blows with him.

[My lord, I just received a message from one of the remote labs in the far east. Apparently one of the test subjects managed to escape during a round of testing and destroyed roughly thirty percent of the facility's underground facilities.] An androgynous voice filled with static echoed around inside the dim room as the Monarch turned around and seated himself at the desk, his lips beginning to creep up slightly.

{Click} The monarch gently pressed in a button on the communication deviced installed at his shoulder.

"Order the complete destruction of the facility and all related personnel as well as any remaining subjects within the facility."

[At once!]

The Monarch slowly leaned back in his chair and smiled faintly as he thought of the many possibilities this could bring.

"Let's see just how far your struggle can take you my little toy soldier." He breathed out a small laugh before leaning back and staring at the ceiling.

Looks like I might finally get to enjoy some entertainment from now on.

The loss of one or two facilities didn't matter much to the Monarch even if it was the core facility his research was being done at. He could always rebuild and retrain the people necessary to fill the roles needed. No, what he needed was more breakouts, more people strong enough to break out of those heavily guarded and fortified research facilities.

If i remember correctly, the only research facility in the far east is in Remlin. The Monarch's eyes began to shine with determination. Remlin's facility is heavily focused on preteens if i remember correctly. Most of the successes have been in preteens and young infants.

He leaned forward again and placed his hands on the desk as he closed his eyes. I bet this one is quite powerful indeed.
