----------------------------------------
As I stared at the towering double stone doors of the Dark King’s castle, my heart was thumping so hard that it felt like it could explode at any moment. This was going to be the final battle that I dedicated my entire life to. If I failed here then all the sacrifices I, my love ones, family, friends, and humanity made would be in vain.
The Dark King had to die today or humanity will cease to exist. Failure is not an option.
I turned around once more before entering the castle to look down the endless flight of stairs that was filled with the corpses of the black humanoid creatures that mercilessly slaughtered humanity to the blink of extinction. Stepping over those corpses were the few men and women who just like me were trained for the sole purpose of combating the Dark King and his army to save humanity.
They were like family to me. Together we shed endless blood and tears to get to this very moment.
Everyone was wearing our special black robes that were tattered and ragged from the continuous battle we fought to get up here. I could see the tension on their face from the anticipation of what’s going to come next.
“It’s been a long war. We’re all exhausted, but this will be the final battle that will finally give us the long deserved rest that is owed to us. I just want to say thank you for following me into the depths of hell.” I wanted to say more, but tears began pouring down my face.
Everyone ran up to me to do a group hug with tears pouring down their faces. They all were still young, ranging between the ages of 20 - 40. My age is 77 because I’m the only one that was able to survive through all the battles. Most people would die young, but if they did survive, then they would die from their bodies becoming weak from old age and years of battle. Only I was able to continue to advance in Ki Class to the highest rank of grandmaster that allows me to stay younger longer while becoming stronger.
I charged my fist with Ki as I turned around to the intimating massive double stone doors. I smashed my right into the door with it shattering into large chunks of rocks that caused a small earthquake as it crashed into the ground.
Inside of the massive throne room was pitched black. Even with my increased vision I couldn’t see deep into the darkness of the throne room, but I felt something powerful was waiting. My hands couldn’t help, but tremble from this immense power that felt like it was slowly swallowing me up as I slowly got closer to it.
I could hear the panting of my comrades become heavier every step we take, but as the suspense grew I lost focus of my surrounding. All I could hear was the heavy thumping of my heart as I solely focused on the powerful energy in front of me.
My mind was racing as I thought about what the Dark King would look like, what power he had, and the chances of winning this battle.
When I reached the end of the throne room in front of me stood the Dark King who was a naked handsome man with red demonic eyes and long white hair.
“Attack!” I screamed at the top of my lungs as I activated Master Class skill [Lightning Field]. The area around us filled with burst of static lightning. The skill allowed me to teleport anywhere within the field instantly and slow and damage all enemy depending how close they are to the center of the field.
I instantly teleported behind the Dark King with both my hands charged with massive amount of Ki.
On the roof of the throne room a massive swirl of static lightning was forming directly above the Dark King who was being bombard by an array of different colors of Ki attacks.
When I released the Ki, the Master Class skill [Lightning storm] came down directly on the Dark King, destroying everything within that area. I saw my comrades’ fall to the ground from the violent earthquake caused by the attack, [Lightning storm].
I didn’t wait for the dust to settle and continued to throw my long range [Lightning spear] toward the location of the Dark King. My comrade followed suite and continued to bombard him with their Ki attacks.

I felt the Ki in my body slowly deplete as I continued to desperately throw [Lightning Spear] at the Dark King. I could feel his massive energy wavering, but couldn’t see the damage we had physically caused to him because of the dust.
“Ah! Help us commander!!” I heard my comrades scream
When I instantly teleported to their area to come to their aid. It looked like a scene from a horror book. Half of the Dark King’s chest was blown apart with the beating heart visible. One of his arms was missing, but with the other arm he held the head of one of my comrade. Blood was pouring out of her head as he continued to tighten his grip.
I saw the bodies of my 7 comrades limped on the ground with their heads destroyed. The other 4 surviving members were desperately swinging their swords at the Dark King.
At the top of my lungs I screamed as I unsheathe my long sword. I stabbed the sword into the forehead of the Dark King. With his demonic red eyes staring directly into my eyes, he just smiled as if my attack did no damage to him.
From behind I felt the arm of the Dark king grabbing me into a bear hug. The pain from my body slowly being crushed was extreme. My vision slowly faded as I watched his heart beat in front of my eyes.
“Commander, don’t fall we’ll release you from his------!” I heard my comrade scream at the top of his lungs, but was cut off from the deafening roar from the dark king.
From the roar I felt intense pain in my ears. The sound of battle disappeared, but instead there was a loud ringing in my head.
Despair filled my heart as I realized how powerless I was compared to this monster.
In a last act of desperation I took a bite into his beating heart. Warm liquid filled my mouth from the bite, but I couldn’t swallow it down because something was stuck in my throat. It didn’t matter to me as I was going to die anyways so I continued to bite into the heart before I felt the life in my body fade away as my body was completely crushed by the Dark King.
When I opened my eyes all I could see was endless white space no matter where I looked. My body was floating in the air with all the pain from the battle gone. There was no way I could’ve survived that battle. So the question was this the afterlife?
I couldn’t control any parts of my body to do anything. So just I continued to float there as time went by. Was I going to stay like this for all of eternity? Is this my punishment for my failure?
I just wanted to close my eyes and sleep.
“Sorry for the wait, we had to finish some last minute preparation.” An extremely old man wearing white robes with long white hair and beard said to me.
“Who are you?” I replied in confusion looking up to the man who appeared out of nowhere that was standing up as I continued to float.
“I’ve looked through many different dimensions that were in the same situations as our world for a powerful being like you to aid me and my wife. We are preparing to sacrifice our lives using magic to send you into the past of our world to save humanity from the Demon lord.”
“I don’t want to. Just send me to the afterlife already.”
“What do you mean you don’t want to? Don’t you regret not being able to save your world? This is your chance to save humanity and get rid of the Demon Lord who will commit the save crime as your Dark King. Don’t you feel guilty at the thought of all those people dying like animals just like your family and friends?”
“I don’t give a fuck anymore. If you care so much why you don’t just send yourself to the past and make a different. I’m already a dead man who tried his best, but still failed miserably. Just let me rest in peace already.”
“I’m sorry, but you’re the only one who has the highest chance of killing the Demon Lord. No one in the other dimensions has gotten as far as you to the powerful being that seek to destroy humanity. I’m sure you won’t regret us giving you a second chance.”
“Don’t regret your decision.” I said coldly to the man as he faded away.
On my back I felt the warmth of large hands. When my eyes opened I could see the blurry shape of a man looking down at me. I heard the happy cheering of people before my mind faded into the darkness.
