Prologue - The last day of my (uninteresting) life

One more day starts, and so does my wish to stay in bed, I must say that when you start a normal day after a good one, it will almost always turn into a bad one. This time however, the reason for my unwillingness to get out of bed wasn't just the fact that I was lazy, but also the fact that yesterday was my birthday which resulted in me staying up for too long, that is also the reason as to why yesterday was, in my opinion, a good day and today a bad one. I know that the fact that I survived for sixteen orbits around the sun will probably have little impact in the grand scheme of things, but I still like the day, probably because of the pancakes my mom always does. But that matters little now that the day is over, and I should really get up, which I do while resisting the comfort of my bed.

After putting on some clothes, I go to the kitchen in order to eat my breakfast, where I find my mom already eating.

"Don't forget that your laptop will arrive today."

"That's right, almost forgot it."

The birthday present my parents had bought for me wasn't given yesterday, due to the fact that it was bought in the internet, and when my parents paid for it it was already too late which means the laptop I have wanted for so long will be given to me at last. It really took quite a lot of time, but at least it was coming therefore it was a better position than many could claim to be in, and because of that I didn't complain, I will be able to games I want and that is good enough for me.

Some time later as soon as step into school grounds the bell rings and I run to class.

"Just a normal day after all." I say with a sigh.

I enter the classroom and I greet some of my classmates before sitting in the usual place, and I sigh once more. In recess I go with those same classmates and buy something to eat. I go back to class and persevere once more when said class ends I go into the school canteen and I see her. Probably the best part of the day for a nerd in constant mild depression is when that nerd sees a girl he is 'infatuated' with that being said it is also the worst, for one it is the time hormones are shot into the blood stream, and who doesn't like a good dosage of adrenaline, dopamine and other hormones when you are feeling bored, on the other hand it is also the time when you are reminded of how much of a coward you are for not making 'a move'.

She is not especially pretty or physically attractive, but neither am I, she is however similar I would say, at least in way, we think the same way, other way to put it would be we wonder the same things. We are not in any way on bad terms I would even say we are good friends, but being 'good friends' can sometimes be more worrying than comforting.

Anyhow I sat next to her and had lunch and finally went home as I didn't have any classes on the afternoon, and as soon as I enter I see a closed box with a note attached with it I take the note and read it.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

The box arrived not long after you left, I supposed you would like to be the first one to open it so I just left it where it is now - love Mom

I really appreciated the fact that everything was left sealed, the only thing that beats the feeling of unboxing tech, was taking the plastic cover that comes on new screens, and I would be able to do both. Right away I take the box into my room along with a knife and I just unpack everything quickly just slowing down to enjoy the feeling of taking the plastic cover I just mentioned.

I turn on the laptop do the regular setup and immediately install a program made to just uninstall others of its kind, namely bloatware, the enemy of anyone who enjoys a good amount of free RAM and a bit of privacy. I start up the process of analyzing the disk for any files not necessary for the well being of the OS and turn on the TV since I already know the process of analyzing every single file will take quite a bit. I return after something like one hour, and start going through which programs and unattached files were worth keeping and which weren’t.

I deleted some, I kept some and continued doing that for a while, until I saw a peculiar file, it’s name was otherworld.summon I found it interesting both how it ended on .summon which was a type of file I had never seen, and what the full name implied if it was true, and because of that I saw how much of my hard drive the file occupied, and what was shown to me didn’t make sense it said the file was 3 bits but a single letter in binary needed at least 8 bits in order to make 1 byte, #computertrivia I thought for a split second before I returned to what was in front of me, 3 bits shouldn’t be enough for a modern CPU to do anything with which would result in me not seeing anything as it wouldn’t be considered a file, the first thought in my mind was that it was malware and the number I’m seeing right now was just a prank by whoever created this file, that being said if it was indeed malware it would be dangerous to have, but my interest was piqued, and this computer had insurance, therefore if anything happened to the laptop because of a file that was already installed I wouldn’t need to pay anything for its repair, which resulted in me doing what my curiosity told me to do I clicked on the file hopping for it to initiate, if it really was either a .summon file or if it really had 3 bits nothing would happen, because I have nothing to read a ‘.summon’ file and 3 bits are well 3 bits, but if both of those characteristics were false something should happen, not sure what though.

I waited for a bit for anything to happen, but nothing and because of that I slightly shook the mouse and noticed that the pointer was moving in slow motion which meant something was being loaded, I continued shaking and the pointer continued getting slower until it completely stopped, the moment it stopped the screen started getting brighter until you couldn’t see anything besides what was essentially a white flash, it was then that I was the one who completely stopped. The next moment I found myself in a completely different place, from where I stood before, instead of my room I saw what could only be described as a library in which was a man, said man stood in front of me, and had quite the peculiar look, but perhaps more importantly he had another peculiarity, he was the one would change my life forever, he was the one who would allow me to turn into a literal god
