Chapter 21-King Dlaerious (deceased)

As you may have observed, the story is messy. But so is reality. When do events that happen in the way they do ever make sense? The god of my realm is starting a new age. That is all I know. Enter to this world. Become part of this world. But only observe. Never should you interact.

I am looking for a passage to other realms. I wonder what it is like to be a, what is it, human? This is just but one world that you have entered. Look to other books you have read. They are connected.

So, what is there to be seen in this story? Hm? There seems to be no linearity. Nor would there ever be. Look back at the beginning where Truth was given an assignment by me. Now, he rewrites the world. It is now Jaguar, my advisor who sends him on his own accord and not on my behalf.

Truth rewrites. His parents were always dead. But he has changed history. And so he has changed the future. He is becoming a god in his own write.

Allow yourself to become a part of this world and look at what has changed.

A new age began. An old one ended. There is much more, a new one has also ended.

Let us look at the beginning once again.

We watch as Tiger comes to Truth’s cell and speaks to him. “Truth, Jaguar wants to see you. She seemed pretty peeved. We should hurry because of that. Even as a prince, I cannot save you from all a noble’s wrath.”

Tiger unlocks the cell and Truth steps out. They are not called out, for the other guards on duty know that Jaguar has called for a prisoner, though they know not whom. A guard opens a door to let my son and his accomplice through.

It is late in the night, and most are in a state of deep slumber. Few candles are lit. And those that do flicker in a dying fashion, bathing the marble halls in dim light in which darkness lurks.

Eventually, they reach Jaguar’s room. You have seen Jaguar as a no-nonsense kind of dragon, but she is out of character this night.

“Good. You’re here. I want the both of you to flee.”

“What?” Truth asked, surprised. “Why should we–”

“Dlaerious is going to die. And I must survive. I have picked you to help me.”

Truth only looks at the looking glass, looking to see beyond. Presumably wanting something different, he looks to the looking glass to his right, trying to see beyond.

Nothing.

“When are we leaving?” Truth asked.

“Tonight,” answered Jaguar. Her voice was shaking. She did not want me to die, but as you know by my dialogue with you, I am dead.

It’s weird. Me, a fictional character talking to you. But there is a reason. There always is in fiction. But the god will be deciding this all.

But as of now, he is nowhere to be found or heard. I have wondered where my wife is. Although I know many things now that I am dead, I still cannot read most minds. I can choose to read one until said being who owns said mind dies.

Perhaps her ghost is no more. But then, why am i still here? She need to be alive, perhaps in another plain of reality. Because I can cross them.

But back to you, reader. I know not your name, or your intent of being here. But allow me to tell you that you will become closer in mind with some characters. The god of this realm may even speak to you.

Beware, this book is like none other you have read before. It is strange, even non-linear.

Let us look back at Truth and Tiger’s venture.

They walk out into the marketplace. No shops are open, even the Fake Limbs Shoppe. Tiger and Truth stay silent as they make their way the the city’s portal exit as to not wake the townsfolk. It was only third chime, about two hours until most would awake and start their days. Needing to get out of the city before then, Tiger and Truth hurried. They were almost at the portal when fourth chime came.

Courage, an orange dragon you no doubt already know opened the portal for them and they left the city to see the Matriarch for a place to have lodging and relative safety for the next few days.

Now we see Maple, in the timeline you started in. She is quite puzzled as she looks at a sign. Wondering why you walked to get a closer look yourself. Maple does not see or hear you. You are not there.

The sign spelt the words Princejorre Street.

Maple still sits there for another minute staring st the sign. After the minute is up, she gets up and wanders about the shop district, which only consists of a few blocks. So did the residential distinct thought. It was a small town. One of the smaller ones that was not under explicit rule of a king or queen or other monarch.

Walking into a shop, the clerk asks her if there is anything he could do to help her in her shopping endeavors.

“I am actually looking for work,” she says.

“Head to the back and take a right,” the clerk said. “There should be a door there. Knock and perhaps you can talk to the manager about getting a job.”

“Thanks.”

***

As of now, I, Dlaerious, must say goodbye. I bid you well in this strange world that you have entered.
