Prologue

To attain great power One requires great sacrifice. Great power comes from great adversity. To those who struggle their struggling shall bear fruit. To those who choose to fight my blessings shall follow…

*Haaaaahh* *fwaaaaaaa*

Wow, that was a strange dream I really shouldn't have had so many cookies last night. Time to get up, let’s see what time is it. What the 7:58! I’m going to be late why didn’t my alarm go off?! Let’s see pants check, shirt check, shoes check. Need my backpack there we go. Let’s grab some money and my water bottle and run to school I’ll probably make it on time if I rush there. Something feels a little off, I’m beginning to feel really anxious like after watching a horror movie late at night. It’s probably just that strange dream I had just ignore it, Lee. I run into the kitchen and grab a granola bar before running off. As I make it to the door it feels like something is missing, like I’m forgetting something really important. The air feels cooler and thicker, and I’m getting that same tingling sensation I got when I was almost hit by a car a year ago. The air seems to distort as words begin to form in front of me. Right as the words came into focus an excited robotic voice began to sound out in my head.

Congratulation’s young Hero! You have been chosen to participate in the Pre-Trials. Should you choose yes you will be given great power and shall-

“No thanks.”

This just seems way too shady not to mention strange. I must’ve really lost my mind or something, but for some reason, this feels real. I really have gone crazy.

Choose wisely human for when the Trials arrive you shall...

“I’m good thanks.”

I’m starting to get a ringing sensation at the back of my head. This isn't good.

You have chosen wisely for choosing yes…

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

 “I said no.”

What the hell is going on?

For your bravery in asking for a more difficult Pre-Trial, I shall grant thee-

That feeling is searing hot now like right before getting hit in the back of the head with a basketball or something.

“I’m serious I don’t want any Pre-Trials or anything else I just want to go to school and move on with my day thank you for your consideration.”

For asking for the most difficult trial available you shall be granted a powerful skill to aid in your survival.

Now that feeling is like someone stalked up right behind me and I can now feel them breathing down the nape of my neck. This feeling is palpable, it’s real. Fear is starting to kick in, a very tangible sense of death is looming in the air.

“Please! I’m begging you, I’m not some hero or whatever please I don’t want to participate in the Pre-Trials I just want to go to school!”

Don’t ask me how or why but I can tell for sure that this is real now. I’m not sure why that is, but I have always had a bit of a sixth sense coming from my gut. I can tell that if I say yes to this system, god, or whatever else it is I’ll probably die. Initially, this all felt like a prank or a joke of some kind, but my gut has been telling me that this is real from the beginning, and now as my adrenaline begins to pump through my body out of pure fear I’ve finally reached the point of desperation. Whether this is a mental breakdown or the craziest dream I’ve ever had I don’t know, but right now all that is registering is fear.

Truly courageous human for your valor and bravery. I shall send you to a Trial never yet completed, one widely considered certain doom. Shall you not complete my trial within the given time your life shall be forfeit. To a world of chaos, challenges, and incredible hardship you shall go. Good luck young hero and blessings be upon you. Hehehe…

Is it laughing? Am I going to die?

“No wait please!”

Do not rush human you were to have some time to prepare for your excursion but if you must insist 10, 9, 8…

You would think that by now I’d have learned that the system is a spiteful shit by now. I dare not make another sound, and though my entire being feels as though I’ve come across certain doom a part of me deep, deep down within my soul whispers for adversity, whispers for a challenge.

*fwoooosh* *zap*

After the countdown finished my entire being felt as though it was sucked up into a vacuum cleaner and then thrown off a building.

Welcome to the Great Forest of Old the Forest of Death. Good luck Human for you shall need it.
