As Matthew looked around, he saw an owl sitting on top of the, now clean, coin. Matthew recoiled in shock as he looked at the small, green owl that looked like a spirit. Like if the owl was a ghost, Matthew could see through it.
The owl then said, "Hello, future traveler, what is your name?
Although Matthew was shocked at first, he got curious and excited at seeing the owl. He then responded, "My name is Matthew Sobczak, what is yours?"
"My name is Chloris, future traveler and I'm here to reward you on activating the Ajax," stated the green owl.
Matthew was wondering what he stumbled upon and hearing the words "reward" his brain worked overtime. Matthew then asked, "What is this Ajax, and what are my rewards?"
Chloris hearing Matthew then stated in a monotone voice, "Matthew, Ajax is an artifact that allows you to go back to the past and return to the present. Ajax doesn't allow one to travel to a time that the universe hasn't reached yet though."
Hearing this Matthew was dumbfounded on how a thing could exist on Earth. After thinking for a moment Matthew then asked, "What rewards do I get for activating Ajax, and how does this thing work?"
"Your rewards are 5 wishes that only apply to the past, and for your last question I don't know how Ajax works I'm just its translator," answered Chloris.
After learning that Ajax had consciousness and wasn't just an item, Matthew was pondering on how something like that couldn't even happen. After thinking for a bit, he wondered why he was able to activate Ajax and the reason behind its existence.
Matthew didn't think he could get anything out of Chloris on Ajax, so he would carefully go into this whole thing. Thinking about his situation a bit more, Matthew thought of something.
"If I go back to the past and get killed during my travels what happens to me in the present?" Matthew asked Chloris.
"You would die in the present if you died during your travels," replied Chloris.
"Another question, If I travel back to 2 months ago do I go back to myself two months younger. Or do I become a different person than me from 2 months ago?" asked Matthew.
Chloris replied in a monotone voice, which Matthew was slowly hating, "Think of a time travel with Ajax being a portal. Your body would be teleported to that date and be there itself. Although make sure your two selves don't see each other or interact with each other."
"Ok, can I start with my wishes now?" Matthew asks Chloris.
Chloris responded, "Yes, you can. Ajax might not be able to grant all of them and none of them will be applied to you in the present. But a wish of yours could affect yourself in the present."
Matthew then stated, " My first wish is to not be able to die in the past. The second wish is the power to bring objects and people through Ajax. The third wish is the power to learn any language by seeing it or listening to it. The fourth wish is the power to change my clothes and my appearance while in the past. For my fifth and last wish, whatever goes through the portal to be clean and clear of all bacteria from the past. Finally, why is Ajax giving out wishes?"
Chloris then stopped for a minute in which it looked like he was talking to someone mentally. Matthew could only think of was Ajax talking to the owl.
Chloris said, "The first wish has to change or be tweak. For why Ajax gives out wishes, it does so the people that activate it doesn't die early."
Matthew accepted that reason on why Ajax gave out wishes. "What makes my blood special to activate Ajax?" questioned Matthew.
Chloris answered, "Your blood type is Rh-null which is the only blood type able to activate Ajax."
Rh-null was a blood type that only a handful of people had in the world. In the whole world, there was less than 50 type of people with this blood type. As Matthew was growing up his parents were always worried about him, since a blood transfusion was not easily achieved with his blood type. As Matthew grew up, his parents accepted the truth that they couldn't always watch him, so they taught him to be careful in life.

Matthew was then thinking of a way for him to survive living in the past. Although Matthew loved history, he couldn't help to be careful about it. Just him going back to the past would expose him to many diseases that would be able to kill him.
Matthew was a collector so he couldn't help but think of the possibility of all the stuff that he could bring to the present. But this also brought up a question, what happened to the bacteria on the items? So, Matthew wished his 5th and final wish on that subject.
After thinking for a bit Matthew said, "How about this, whenever I die, I will wake up in the present with the pain of how I died and can't go to that date in that appearance ever again."
Chloris then stopped swaying and look like he was talking to Ajax. After the talk, Chloris opened his beak and said, "Ajax will accept that wish."
Hearing that Matthew smiled in victory. Then Matthew thought about it, where should he go first with Ajax? He didn't want to go too far back in the past for his first time traveling. As he was thinking about his predicament, he noticed the clock reached 10 p.m. During his talk with Chloris Matthew completely forgot about his work in the morning.
After telling Chloris that he had to go to sleep for work in the morning the bird vanished inside the coin. Smiling at his luck, Matthew walked to the bathroom to get ready for the night. After a couple of minutes in the bathroom, Matthew dropped onto his bed with a big smile on his face. For one of the first times in his life, Matthew was ready for the morning to come.
Waking up at 5:30 a.m. was never a fun affair for Matthew, but today he woke up as soon as his alarm rang. Matthew always started his morning with a shower in the morning. He then quickly ate a muffin for breakfast and walked out to his car before time reached 6 a.m.
It took Matthew 20 minutes to get to his warehouse. On the way there Matthew thought about quitting his job in favor of the appearance of Ajax. The more that Matthew thought about the idea the worse it became.
How would he explain the reason for him quitting the job? That he found a coin with an owl spirit in it that could make Matthew time travel? No, that would make Matthew a lunatic in front of his parents. Also, even if they believe him Matthew didn't want his to parents worry about him.
Even though Matthew was sure he could make better money off stuff he could find in the past, how would he sell it? Matthew had no credibility and no way to prove its authenticity without revealing Ajax. Who would trust a 17-year-old selling them a Gutenberg Bible?
This is also revealed a problem to Matthew. One way to identify the age of an object is carbon dating. If Matthew took a sword that was made in 600 A.D. and take it to the present, what would the carbon dating read? That it was made a day ago? If so, it could make problems for Matthew.
Getting out of his car since he got to his warehouse, Matthew was thinking of burying or hiding the object and going to the present. After going to the present Matthew would go to the place where he hid the object and take it.
Putting his ideas in the back of his head, Matthew walked into his workplace and clock-in for the day. Matthew works from 6:30 to 3:30 and would have his lunch around 11:30 a.m. The day passed by quickly for Matthew as soon as he knew it, he was clocking out and driving back home.
As Matthew closed the door to the house and lock it a smile quickly spread on his face. Today he would test Ajax's time travel ability. Closing the door to his room he saw the owl pop up out of the coin.
In his monotone voice, Chloris said, "Are you ready to travel to the past."
Hearing this Matthew couldn't help but blurt out, "YES!"
Chloris responded, "Which date would you like to go to, traveler?"
Matthew has been thinking about this for the whole night. He finally decided on a date just to check out how things would work.
"I have made my decision. I would like to go on January 17th, 1961, to 7 in the morning, in downtown New York City," said Matthew. Matthew wanted to Dwight D. Eisenhower's speech, but he couldn't find out what time the speech was aired. As for New York City, he chose the city because he didn't know where else to find a TV.
Chloris then hummed in response to Matthew's answer and disappeared into the coin. Before Matthew could ask where he went, the tetradrachm went flying into his head and Matthew was knock out.
Matthew suddenly woke up and saw bricks building surrounding him with a narrow walkway in front of him. Matthew realized that he was standing in an alleyway. Thinking about how he was able to time traveled Matthew was shocked. Although he was ready for it, Matthew's mind couldn't take the new world he was exposed to and freeze for a second.
Realizing that he was standing in downtown New York with jeans and a t-shirt on, Matthew hurried and summon a continental-style suit with a thin tie. After deciding the time Matthew was set on traveling to, he researched fashionable clothes for the time period to fit in. He also summoned some leather shoes with a pork pie hat.
Matthew then quickly put on his new clothes after checking that no one was walking in the alleyway. After throwing his old clothes through the portal to his room, Matthew began to walk out the alleyway. Matthew never felt more excited in his life and was ready to begin his adventure in New York City in 1961.
