Two boys pop out of the woods with backpacks on their backs. Erica drops her cigarette on the ground and steps on it. I jumped up off the ground and stood up. "Who are y'all!" I yell. "Chill! it's just my other friends." Erica walks over to the two teenage boys. One of them was wearing a backward Lakers hat with a basketball jersey, and the other was a little shorter with dark brown hair, wearing a t-shirt and jeans.
I walk over like I'm Erica's protector. "oh, this is my friend, David, David this is Laden and Jordan." They both wave and I wave back. "Wait a second dude, you're the famous David," Laden says. I look annoyed. "Okay...so..." Erica gives them a look but they ignore her. "Danny is your brother. Right?" My body heats up with anger. "Don't you ever say Danny's name!" My fists ball up. Erica sees that I'm about to lash out. "Okay! That's enough guys! Let's just chill." Erica grabs my hand and walks me to my bike. "Are you okay?" I shake my head. "Why did you bring them to our secret spot?!" I watch the boys in the distance talking amongst themselves.
"I thought it'd be nice to have new people around." I shake my head in disapproval. "I'm going... have fun with your new friends." I proceed to get on my bike. "No, David..." She grabs my arm. "We'll talk about this later. I'll be at the coffee shop." I hop on my bike and quickly ride past the boys. I hold back my tears. "I'm trying to be a better person, but people keep testing me." I think to myself.
I reach town again as my legs start to give out. I place my bike in the rack and lock the front wheel once again. Before I walked into the coffee shop, my phone rang. I pull my phone out of my pocket to see my Mom calling. I answered. "Hey honey, how was therapy." I walked into the shop and sat down. "It was alright... I'm making progress." "That's good, I'm proud of you." I can hear how proud she is through her voice. "I'll see you when you get home, I love you, honey." I smile a little. "I love you too." I hang up the phone and look around the coffee shop.
I see an old friend sitting in the corner of the shop. She is wearing a solid pink shirt with black pants. She is sipping on coffee and reading a book ignoring everything around her. I walk over to her and sit down across from her. "What's up, Aaliyah?" She slowly raises her hazel eyes from the book and her eyes light up. "Oh my gosh! David!" When Aaliyah smiles she lights up the world. Aaliyah stands up to give me a hug. When I stood up she pulled me close into a warm long hug.
She smelt sweet and savory like a flower. "Where's your Mom?" I said as we sat down. "She's at work... What? I can't be out by myself?" I smile. "I just wanted to know that's all. Do you want anything to eat?" Aaliyah nods. "What do you want?" I say happily. "Surprise me." I get up and walk up to the counter. "Can I have two chocolate chip cookies and Ham and Swiss on Baguette?" The person puts the order in and I pay for it.

"Here you go, sir..." He hands me the food. I walked over and handed Aaliyah her sandwich and sat down. "Aw, you remembered this is my favorite sandwich." I smile from ear to ear while taking a bite of my cookie. While eating we overheard the news talking about missing kids from another country called Marpolia. "I never heard of Marpolia," I said. Aaliyah finishes chewing. "Me neither..." I hear somebody coming through the door of the shop. I turn my head to see Erica walking right towards me.
"David!" Erica's face changes expression. "Oh, my bad... I didn't know you were on a date." Aaliyah looks at me and says. "You're all good. My name is Aaliyah by the way." Erica smirks and says with confidence. "I'm Erica, David's friend...Do you mind if I talk to David for a second?"
Aaliyah looks at me and nods. "Thanks." Erica grabs my hoodie and pulls me outside. "You never told me you had a girlfriend?!" She whispered angrily. "She's not my girlfriend." I lean against the wall. "Then, why did she say y'all was on a date?" I shrug my shoulders. "Why is that important? Why did you pull me out here?" Erica sighs. "Laden and Jordan are coming to apologize..." I breathe in deeply and breathe out. "No... Who are they to you anyway?" She crosses her arms. "They're my new friends I just met a few days ago." "Well, I don't accept their apology." I walk back into the store and back to Aaliyah who is back to reading her book.
"I'm sorry... so much stuff is going on." I sat back down. "It's cool." Aaliyah smiles. "Is that girl your best friend?" She says while reading. "Yes, kind of like a homie." Aaliyah giggles and gently puts her hand on top of mine. Before I could say anything I saw two people in the corner of my eye coming towards me. I turn my head to see Laden and Jordan.
Aaliyah whispers, "Do you know them?" I don't say anything. Laden walks up and says. "David... We wanted to apologize." I roll my eyes. "Okay..." Jordan's face cringes up. "Bro, you got to say more than okay." Right behind them, I see Erica walking up. I ignore them and look at Aaliyah, she has this concerned look on her face. All of a sudden Jordan grabs me and pushes me up against the wall causing a scene. I push Jordan off of me and he falls to the ground. "Guys! Stop!" Laden sees and starts punching me in the face. In the distance, I hear Aaliyah yell, "Fight back David!" With all my strength I pushed Laden off of me and punched him in the stomach. Jordan comes from behind and punches me in the back of the head. I go in and out of consciousness. I can still feel the punches but I couldn't fight back.
With my blurry sight, I see people pulling them off me. I lay there on the cold floor thinking to myself. "I'm not going to make it." In the distance, I hear sirens, as blood drips from my face. Everything started to fade slowly till everything went completely black.
