The Pre-school arc

The Pre-school arc

I was a pretty weak child. All my earliest memories are of me living a humble life with my grandparents.

I was the kid that lived with my grandparents, who were always home. I never really have any memories of me playing with other kids my age. I only ever recall spending time with my family and the neighbours who lived above us. Despite being weak, I was a pretty rowdy kid. I lied a lot, and when I say a lot, I mean a lot, with no hesitation whatsoever, and to the point where it got others in trouble.

Anyway, for those who are unfamiliar with the Indian education system, we have three years of pre-primary education: nursery, LKG (Lower Kindergarten), and UKG (Upper Kindergarten). They teach you alphabets, words, basic sentences, numbers, rhymes, and such. My parents didn’t bother making me attend a fancy pre-primary school; they had me attend the closest one when I was about 2 and a half years old. It was a pretty small school; it only had 3 classrooms from what I remember of it. I only remember one person from those years. It was a girl who we’ll call Sun. The teachers were sweet. They used to feed kids who couldn’t eat well by themselves. I was one of them.

We were given plenty of breaks throughout the day, since we were still pretty young. I always carried around half an apple in pieces with the skin peeled in a small plastic bag. The break was pretty long, so me and my friend at that time sat on the stage with our legs hanging off and enjoyed the snacks while looking at the passing vehicles. I do not remember him sadly. We rolled down our socks and enjoyed the breeze.

Another faint memory that comes through is that of the toilet. I don't remember much besides it being an Asian squat toilet in a bathroom that had no light. Me and my friends always used to debate word spellings when we went to pee. Some of them were "Tailor vs. Taylor; Stitches vs. Stitches; Grammar vs. Grammer." I was definitely the kid who used the wrong spelling for grammar. I remember my dad giving me an earful for always misspelling it.

That was pretty much everything I remembered about my pre-primary school years. The only exams besides basic alphabet-word tests we had back then were rhyme repeating tests, we had to memorize and repeat rhymes orally. I scored well as far as I can remember.

That’s pretty much it for all my Pre-school as far as I can remember.
