(Minor)

Mwyrani - a minor race of gods that descended from the heavens and found a prosperous empire until they were destroyed by the Sidhe. While many were killed in the Shuddering, some have survived by binding themselves to the land as nature deities or returning to the heavens. The Mywrani played a role in the establishment of the Corsythian Empire which was founded by refugees from their earlier domain.

Sidhe - dark gods of unknown origins, these cruel and sadistic lords are characterized by a hatred of the Mywrani and elves. Although they are the progenitors of the Troll and Atrometos races, the Sidhe have at times shown favor to the Corsythians for unknown reasons.

Ayyālu (the Stag Lord) - Supposedly the offspring of Tsiāhu and Selene, his worshippers believe that Ayyālu, not Selene, is the true progenitor of the elves.

Empire Geography

Cantons - the empire is divided into three large cantons, named after their capital cities, each of which contains numerous kingdoms. In the south is the canton of Sicya, in the center is the canton of Corsythia, and in the north is the canton of Celestia. The lands thus far visited (Sapīya and Harei Miqlat) are both part of the central canton.

Provinces mentioned thus far

Central Canton:

Sapīya - this province of jungles and mountains shares close ties with its northern neighbor, Hapīya, while being locked in constant struggles against its western rival Stryn. Once heavily populated, the province was ravished during the Fey Wars.

Hapīya - this province once ruled over the lands of Sapīya as well until they were split by inheritance, but it continues to share close ties with its southern neighbors. In the north, Hapīya borders the Inland Sea.

Stryn - one of the six great provinces within the empire, Stryn is a hotbed of cultists and dark magic and was devastated during the conclusion of the Desolyton. However, despite the dark rumors about the land, the might of its cavalry, feared within and without the empire, has also allowed the rulers of Stryn to operate with impunity.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Yelkala - close allies with its northern neighbor Stryn, Yelkala is one of the three provinces that shares close borders - and often close ties - with the empire of Gemliria. Known as a haven of cultism, Yelkala has a dark reputation within the empire.

Western Corsythia - a small province on the eastern border of Sapīya, Western Corsythia was once part of the large royal lands but split off in an inheritance. With the Empire’s capital in the hands of the Zalancthians, the Emperor is currently ruling from this province.

Harei Miqlat - the mysterious homeland of the Djinn, few foreigners are ever allowed to step foot within the vast valley. Encircled by mountains on every side, with only a single entrance to the empire, the Harei Miqlat function with almost complete independence, ignoring the rest of the empire except in times of most dire need.

Northern Canton:

Celestia - the strongest province in the empire and the homeland of the true royal house, Nūrilī, Celestia has always had close ties with the elves of Yammaqom. With lifespans that approach those of the elves, many Celestians do not consider themselves to be Corsythians and feel little loyalty to the empire, especially now that the empire is ruled by the House of Gonia.

Hadīn - the second most powerful province in the northern canton, the king of Hadin holds sway over most of the surrounding provinces. His province, which borders the Inland Sea, enjoys a rich trade with the kingdoms of the dwarves and strythani.

Merom - a member of the northern canton, although Merom is technically independent, this northern neighbor of Sapīya is essentially a vassal of the king of Hadīn.

Southern Canton

Sicya - the capital province of the southern canton, Sicya’s ports were once famed throughout the empire. Now the entire province is in the hands of the Zalancthian invaders.

The Desolyton - The dark teachings of Gemlir, which offered an easier path to true power, found a welcoming audience within the empire, their poison eventually infecting even the emperor himself. Shamshaddin - the most revered Emperor in the history of the Empire, Shamshaddin was the second emperor of the Desolyton, who sought vengeance for the murder of his father. Some worship him as an avatar of Shamsha.

The Fey Wars - In the aftermath of the Desolyton, the southern Fey took the opportunity to launch a series of devastating attacks. They were initially successful, conquering deep into the heartland of the Empire. But the Empire, making extensive use of soul magic, eventually defeated them, crushing the Fey forces. The devastation from the wars left both nations on the brink of collapse.

The Zalancthian Invasion - several hundred years after the Fey Wars, a weakened empire was suddenly invaded by an unknown enemy from across the sea. The rightful emperor died in the initial onslaught, leaving a mere child to inherit. In the resulting crisis, a general from the House of Gonia seized power, whose descendants are still warring against the invaders.
