I found myself along the majestic coast of Loch Adeas. I could not remember why I was here, but it hardly mattered once I saw him. He stood by the shore, as if expecting me. His bright green eyes dazzling in the morning sunshine, his dusky skin graced with the feintest hints of the morning dew. This was his lake, my darling Quinn. At least, it was once long ago. The cool breeze danced through his wild hair, and it resembled the beauty of a kindled flame. I hadn’t felt like this in what must have been forever. My love was home.
We sat together by the lakeside in serenity until the late evening in silent admiration. The words we used I could hardly remember, but the warmth of his embrace I could never dare to forget. As the sun began to set though, an eerie cold set itself within the hearth of my heart. It finally occurred to me, why should I be so longing of a face I see every day? We had bonded in our youth, and now we sat here, two proud men in the God’s lands, lovers bonded by blood and oath. I have shared his home and hospitality longer than I had not, and yet I felt deeply as if I had not seen his face until just now. Thinking about it now, this spot is where I first laid eyes upon Quinn, and knew my love was destined. Why are we here now?
My mind raced through how I had arrived here. Had I walked? I didn’t remember going through my morning chores or checking in on Quinn’s father. I would never forget to help old Niall, but I couldn’t remember if I had or not. I tried to ask Quinn if he knew, and suddenly I found myself rendered speechless. I tried again, and my throat would not yield to the words. I tried to scream and found that my throat only tightened itself as I struggled. Suddenly, my head found itself spinning, my throat began to tighten more. Desperately, I reached out to grab Quinn, if not for aid, then to see his beautiful face one last time. Raising my arm was like dragging the sun through the heavens. Nothing was there, and it was as if the world was holding my arm back. Panic was beginning to take me, but I forced my arm to rise. As it connected to Quinn’s shoulder, I could feel no sensation. No warmth of his skin, not the coarseness of his fur cloak. It was as if I had grasped the wind, but he finally turned to face me.

When his eyes met mine, it was as if my world had ended. The sun snuffed in an instant, leaving nothing but the blackened sky and the pale starlight. His beautiful emerald eyes blinked and transformed into inky dark pools. His mouth moved to smile, and it too was black as the voided sky. I tried to move away, to move my hand, and found myself locked in his gaze. Above us, an eruption of light enveloped the sky, and the jet black sky spun, devouring the other stars. My heart felt like it would burst, and my blood ran frozen, when the monster in my beloved’s body spoke.
“We… feast…”
And as this abomination lunged for my throat, I awoke screaming.
