The Hunt - 1

The next day.

It was really early in the morning as the sun was still to rise but the dark night sky was slowly turning grey. The dark grey clouds still covered the sky but fortunately for the people from the town it wasn’t raining.

Usually, the townsfolk would always start their work really early in the morning but whenever there was rain, they would rather wait for the sun to rise. No, it is not because they feel lazy on a rainy day, but it is because the town was located on and around a steep mountain peak. Thus, landslides are really common especially it rained for more than a day and hence they would rather be safe than work early.

Still the things were quite lively inside the orphanage as the kids were getting ready for the hunting practice.

“Robert! Uncle James is here.” Rebecca called as she welcomed James inside the orphanage, but to her surprise James and his team refused to go in there.

“No Rebecca. We would get the place dirty if we come in and I am sure Robert would be here in a few seconds.” James responded.

Before Rebecca could say anything, she saw Robert, Josh, Stan and Dante coming towards them through the hall.

“See. We didn’t even have to wait that long. Perfect.” James said.

Rebecca nodded.

James and his group looked at the kids who just arrived. He was measuring their strength on the basis of their body. Being an experienced hunter quickly measured their strength and he was right for every kid, well except for one kid – Dante.

Since his rebirth one thing was utterly clear to him that his body possessed some absurd amount of strength even when he compared this body of a small kid to the older people in his previous life. Since his rebirth he had neither been sick nor injured. Once he even tried to harm himself with a knife but, it was of no avail and one must know that he could literally shatter a solid rock with his bare hands. His endurance was off the charts even more than his strength as one time he even jumped off the second floor, but nothing happened to him.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

Even with his ‘not so strong’ looking body Dante still managed to steal the highlight from others there. A pale looking kid with a face that could even make the goddesses fall for him and coupled with his shining silky quite long black hair it was safe to assume Dante was the most handsome guy in that world.

But unlike his face he was the shortest in the group even shorter than another 11-year-old kid and lacked bulk in his body. The other kids were really tall and bulky for their age. The only redeeming quality Dante had, except for his face, was his really well-defined body and a stature that even warriors would envy.

Just like James Dante couldn’t help but measure these people standing at the entrance. It was a group of three people including James. James was the tallest and the most buffed up guy in the room. He had a brown complexion and black hair, his looks were ordinary but a big scratch on his left cheek gave off an experienced warrior aura around.

‘He doesn’t seem bad. A huge body can provide him tremendous strength, but I just don’t feel any danger from him… is he not that strong or am I just too strong? As for the other two… they seem like your average hunters.’

“Alright, since everyone is here. We will take our leave Rebecca.” James said.

Rebecca nodded and made a weak smile.

Seeing the smile James sighed internally. Dante noticed the reaction and Rebecca’s smile and couldn’t help but ask himself ‘is there something unfortunate that I am unaware of? Perhaps an accident that might have happened in the past hunting trips?’

Dante stopped thinking and followed everyone outside where horses and a lady warrior were waiting for them.

“Since, you will be joining us for the first time I want you to stay with that lady in the hood.” James said as he pointed towards the lady warrior standing beside the horses.

Dante nodded and moved towards the lady. As he walked towards her, Dante couldn’t help but measure her too just like he did with James and his group.

She was a short lady with a fair complexion. Her hair was of lighter brown color and as for her hairstyle it was a bun type hair style. She wore a light metal armor plate that protected her chest and stomach, and underneath that armor she wore a darker shade of brown t-shirt and pants with long boots.

‘She doesn’t look strong from her appearance, but from her outfit I can tell she is an experienced one. A light armor only protects the vitals while also providing the agility which a normal armor doesn’t. Her hair is tied into a bun, so it doesn’t hinder her. Hmm… from the looks I guess she is the archer of the group?’Dante thought to himself as he walked towards her.

“Oh. What a pleasant surprise!” The lady said as she saw a kid coming towards her.

“I didn’t know that such a cutie would be joining us today.” She bent down and patted Dante on his head.

In response Dante showed a small smile.

“Let’s get moving or we will miss the best time to hunt.” James said as he got on his horse.

Dante saw everyone getting on their horse. As for the kids, they would be, of course, sharing the horse. Every other kid seemed to already have a partner as they knew which horse to get on.

“You would be riding with me.” The lady said as she lifted Dante and put him on the horse before she herself got on it.

‘I am definitely not pleased with how easily she could lift me.’ Dante sighed internally about the thought. ‘this feeling of being dragged around …’ Even though he felt down because of it but he still kept an emotionless face.

Seeing everyone was ready James nodded and lightly kicked his horse.
