So, many people have reached out through social media, DMs, and Patreon about whether I plan to continue writing the System Envoy. The short answer is yes, but I wanted to say that I've received a lot of feedback on this series about how many of the benefits given to my MC felt too easy, and I think that's right.
I've decided to write a new series called The Apex Archives. You can start reading it on Royalroad or beta-read the actual manuscript that I'm working on (DM me your email, and I'll send you invites). My intent is to rewrite my old series and bring them into a shared universe.
The Scourge Wars will become an evolution story set in a sci-fi universe. Instead of magic, there will be tech indistinguishable from magic (pretty much the same), and instead of gods, they'll be type 8 civilizations (again, pretty much the same). For the System Envoy, instead of being a diplomat to fantasy races, Aidan will be an envoy on behalf of the Apex Order to alien planets.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
So why am I doing this? Well, I've learned a lot over the course of writing these stories. I've found that not only do I need better logic behind my plots, but also that I grow tired of writing the same series at once. I quickly get burnt out after a few books. I want to bring my various projects into one universe to alleviate this problem and produce more stories for my readers.
To that end, please give the Apex Archives a read. I think it addresses many of the problems mentioned in the System Envoy. Once the first book is up for pre-order, I'll be rewriting the first book of the Scourge Wars. When it's done, I'll revisit the System Envoy and bring it into the universe as well.
Thank you to everyone who followed this story. I'm excited to bring it forward into this exciting new chapter.
Regards,
D.W. Belfield
