Hello! Always a good beginning, that's what they say.

So, after all the feedback I got originally from people who read Swordwing, I decided to rewrite the first book. Unfortunately, I don't have the mental bandwidth to post it chapter by chapter because the rewrite is extensive, the chapter numbers wouldn't make sense if I simply copy pasted over the currently-posted chapters, and I don't want to post it as a separate rewrite fic on RR.

BUT, I do think that everybody who has read thus far should be able to read the rewrite, should they so choose, so I've compiled it into a single book file in multiple formats (epub, pdf, mobi) that you can download in the link in the post-chapter notes. As for whether it's worth reading the rewrite, well it's pretty different from what's currently posted. I will say the overall plot and the general vibes are still the same. Rieren still has the same personality and Batcat is still pretty cute if you ask me. She still grows at the sect, and the sect is still invaded by monsters.

That's where the changes come in. First of all, the first book now ends right after the first invasion, where they fight the Life Stifler for the first time, so plot-wise, it's technically "shorter". The system has also been reworked, as has a lot of Rieren's progression and the ways she achieves them. This was expanded on a great deal (which, along with the other changes and additions, raises the total length to about 160k words). I've reworked the mystery plotline as well, plus quite a few other details that are clarified but would be impossible to list exhaustively.

My recommendation is that, if you do think it's worth reading the rewrite, then read it as a completely new book with no preconceptions from what's currently posted. I considered coming up with a new blurb to represent the story better, but the main premise is still the same, and as mentioned earlier, the vibes aren't that different either.

Now for the stub part, I'm going to remove chapters 1 through 78 in 2 weeks from this announcement, so on Sunday the 28th, to post the rewrite on KU.

Anyway, thanks for reading and keeping up with the story so far through it's ups and downs. Thanks also to everyone who's provided feedback. That feedback, plus all I've learned since I first started writing Swordwing, has hopefully made the rewrite stronger.

P.S.: I will finish the current arc of Swordwing on RR, but the priority will probably shift to rewriting book 2 for the time being after the current arc is done.
