I could hear them.
The sirens.
It was like…. The low bellow of an elephant turning into the screeching sound of tires against a smooth surface.
I clutched my ears in agony, though i knew it wouldn’t help anything. I was like an ant under a magnifying glass.
Helpless.
Exhausted.
Burning.
I knew quite well that i was running short on time before the dogs would find me.
In fact, i could practically hear them. Smell them.
The dogs were big and bulky, at least a few hundred pounds, but are made entirely of muscle. They had white skin, that seemed unrealistically pale, and they wore the same all-black uniform with a red moon in the middle and a matching hat to go with it.
No one escapes them. No one was supposed to anyway.
I…
I was the first.
The first to ever pass the sandy walls, hidden far in the dunes of the desert.
To finally taste the sun on my skin, its warm rays like a downpour of warmth and happiness.
We were never supposed to see the sun.

I was never supposed to see the sun.
And if i didn’t keep running, i dont think i ever will again.
My feet pounded against the grains of sand, slipping through piles, making me trip more than once before gaining my balance. My long pants that curved around my thighs swished and swayed as i ran.
My shawl and tanktop hug tight to me as i sweat and breathed very heavily.m
I wasnt even running anymore.
I was sprinting.
Sprinting for my life as my bare feet burned, and as my grateful feelings for the heat and light from before slowly slipped away.
I ignored the pain, and kept on running.
My future depended on it afterall.
I didnt want to go back.
I didnt want to be dragged away by two burly men and put back into a dark cell, with the only view of the moon.
I hated their moon.
I LOATHED their moon.
I stopped just once, and looked back.
They were failry close, but not close enough to catch up to me now.
So, i let go of the black shawl that had covered me, and it practically flew away.
I was exposed now.
I felt the wind pick up as my secret was revealed…
Deep grey wings of a snow color swung slightly as i looked over my shoulder.
They had stopped.
Teh men in black… had stopped.
I couldn’t wait for them to make a decision, or else i wouldn’t have time.
So i spread my wings far, stretching them for the first time in forever.
At first, i crouched down.
Then, i ran, running swiftly and quickly.
At last, my favorite part came….
Liftoff.
I jumped up into the air, gradually getting higher and higher.
My speed was beyond human perception, so to them… i was gone in seconds.
But really, i was in the sky.
I was up there for one reason.
To look down into the world.
And find my future .
