I am unsure of my current location. When attempting to stand, I experience difficulty due to the intense soreness throughout my body. It feels as if I have just completed a long-distance run. The movement of my limbs is a struggle, and it feels as if I am immersed in honey. Also, opening my eyelids requires significant effort as they seem to be held down. It's almost like I spent all day doing a full-body workout.
Take a deep breath and calm your nerves, Adam. This will help you to think clearly and figure out the situation you're in. I struggle to open my eyes, but the darkness is overwhelming, making it impossible to see beyond a foot in front of me. It's either late at night or I'm in an enclosed space. Judging by the fact that I can't see the sky, which I should at night because of the moon and stars I have to be in an enclosed space. It feels like I'm in a cave due to the stone floor and the cold draft causing the hair on my arms to stand up.
As I lay on my stomach, I can't help but feel that something is amiss. My thoughts are scattered, and my mind is racing with possibilities. I went to bed last night like any other night and woke up here. This can't be a dream it's too detailed to be one I pinch my skin just to be sure and sure enough, it hurts.
Was I thrown into a cave? I live a pretty ordinary life, so I can't imagine why someone would do this to me. Pushing these thoughts to the back of my mind I try to stand up, which proves to be difficult. After a couple of minutes of trying to stand up, I succeed albeit, I have to lean against the wall to keep myself from falling back down on the stone floor. After taking a moment to gather my bearings, I follow the wall that I'm leaning on toward the source of the draft. Thirty minutes later I have to sit back down on the floor with my back to the wall to catch my breath. Do you ever feel thirsty and find yourself wishing for a refreshing glass of water, only to realize that there's none around? I know the feeling all too well - it can be quite frustrating!
After taking a short break, I stood up and continued walking while every once in a while stumbling forward and falling. As I walk, my mind wanders to the possibilities of what might be happening. After hanging out with some friends last night, I went home. Is it possible that this is all just a prank? How did they get me into a cave when we lived in an urban city? A possibility crept up in my head but I pushed it away. That can never happen. But no matter how much I thought about it it just did not make any sense. Nothing I can think of can explain this situation. My mom's going to be worried sick I've only been off to college for one week and something has already happened to me.
After what felt like hours, I finally saw an opening in the cave. A wave of relief washes over me. I couldn't continue walking any longer; my legs were screaming for me to stop. I slowly hobbled my way to the opening of the cave, relieved to finally escape the pitch-black darkness that had engulfed me for what felt like an eternity. As I reach the opening of the cave and step outside all I see is towering trees looming over me in all directions. I can't even see the sky because of the canopy of leaves and thick branches over my head. And aren't these trees a little too big? I mean these trunks are huge.
At least I'm not in my pajamas, because I got home a little late last night I did not even bother changing into them. I'm wearing black cargo pants and a brown polyester long sleeve polo shirt. However, I do wish I had some shoes or at least slippers. The socks I'm wearing are starting to get soaked from standing on the foliage.
Now the question is what do I do now? Do I just pick a direction and just start walking? I don't have my phone with me, the only thing I have on me is the Swiss army knife that I always carry around. I guess that's better than nothing. As I think about my next move, I approach the largest tree I have ever seen. Actually, all of these trees are bigger than any I have seen before today. If the worst comes to worst, I can climb one of these trees. At the crown of the tree, it could help me see where I need to go. The bark is covered in deep cracks, which I can use as hand and footholds. Although I think I can climb the tree due to the bark, it would be better to choose a direction to walk first and leave climbing as a last resort. While I could reach civilization faster this way if I slipped off the tree I would definitely die.

As I start to trek through the forest by weaving through the gigantic trees I start to look at my surroundings more carefully. The flora is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Each plant boasts unique and fascinating features. I am struck by the kaleidoscope of colors that greet me. Brilliant blooms of exotic flowers punctuate the landscape, their petals unfolding in a riot of shapes and shades. Where am I? There should not be anything like this in New York, or anywhere else that I am aware of. I know I have not traveled much, but still, this forest is beautiful. Saying it was mystical is an understatement. There's nothing like it in New York that I'm aware of. Strangely, I haven't seen any animals despite it being daytime judging by the small amount of light that's able to escape the canopy of leaves and branches above my head.
As I continue to walk, I can feel hunger pangs setting in, causing my stomach to growl. It's a clear sign that my body needs nourishment. I can't continue like this I have to do something about this. I need to eat something, but the problem is I don't know what. If it gets really bad, I know I can survive off the bark of the trees. And that's exactly what I end up doing as I need the energy to keep going. Trying to peel the bark off a tree has never been this hard, so I decide to use my Swiss army knife to pry some off and end up succeeding. To my surprise, it doesn't taste that bad. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't taste good either. But given the circumstances, I'll take it.
Taking a seat on one of the tree trunk-sized roots, I begin to chew on a handful of bark that I pried off with great effort. I should go to the dentist when I get back to civilization. While I can eat the bark it's probably doing a number on my teeth and gums they are already starting to ache a little. Brushing off the little pieces of bark that I did not end up eating off my lap I hear movement coming from dense shrubbery in front of me. It gives me pause. Should I say something it could be a person, but it's also possible that it can also be a bear. While I was contemplating my options, something leaped out from behind the bush, leaving me with no time to react. I am in shock by what I see, as I have never witnessed anything like it before.
What looks like a rabbit jumps into a small clearing. What has me in shock is not that the rabbit is three times the size of a normal one. It's the green fur and small horn jutting from its forehead. I sit still in disbelief as the rabbit goes on its merry way not even noticing me. It takes me a full minute to digest what I just saw and even then I don't know what to say. I mean that thing could almost rival a small dog. Where am I? I hope this is a dream, but I know it is not. I'm somewhere that is foreign to me.
I don't know what to do I just want to lay in my comfy bed and fall asleep and act like this never happened. I have been at this strange place for at least six hours now and I'm on the verge of giving up. My legs feel like they are on fire due to all the walking I've done. It doesn't help that my socks are soaked and the temperature is dropping. My only solace is that I can survive on the abundant supply of bark and sap. Handling all of this is too much for me. I'm still in college and have never dealt with anything like this before. As I continue to sit wallowing in my self-pity I hear movements in the bushes again. Thinking it's going to be another rabbit I look over with curiosity. As I gaze over, a large wolf leaps out from behind the bushes instead of a rabbit catching me off guard. There is a distance of about fifteen feet between us as it stares at me, baring its teeth menacingly at me.
"HOLY SHIT!"
I scream as I get from where I'm seated to start running for my life. Even though my legs are still on fire from the long hike seeing the wolf I summon the vigor to sprint in the opposite direction of the wolf. I don't even need to turn around to know that it's chasing me. Even on TV, they are not that big. There's no way I'm still on Earth. I've had a suspicion for some time now, but I can't believe that there are giant green rabbits with horns. Those just do not exist on earth and that wolf is huge. I mean I know wolfs are supposed to be big but that thing can easily rip my head off with one bite.
As I run, I hear the wolf behind me getting louder. That can only mean one thing. It's getting closer. What should I do? I can't outrun It and there is no way I can fight it. It would be ideal to have ample time to ponder over my next move, but unfortunately, time is not on my side. The wolf is moving faster than I am, and I am barely managing to stay ahead of it by weaving around the trees. However, I am aware that this strategy won't work forever. Eventually, I'm gonna tire out of slip on a root.
My condition was not looking good I was starting to tire out. I can't even count the amount of cuts I have accumulated on my feet. It is really hard to run through a forest wearing socks. If you can even call them socks anymore they were basically tattered rags at this point.
I needed to do something quick while I still had some strength in my legs.
