Side Story 1: Chaos

"How did this happen!! What is this!? Are we the only ones who know of this so far?!" The commander is yelling at us as everyone rushes, trying to find out what's happening.

"Sir, we don't know anything other than that a large landmass appeared in the South Pacific and that it has unnatural storms around it," I say, trying to soothe the commander.

"What is the nature of these storms? Has anything like this been recorded before?" The commander asks, seeming a bit more calm but still frantic

"We still don't know. We're currently inspecting them with our satellites. Still, they seem to be creating a large electromagnetic field as we can't see any specific details of the land," The person on my team says as he analyzes the data.

"Speed it up; we need as much data as possible before we attempt to explore it. Especially if we want to do it before anyone else. You say it appeared out of nowhere?"

"Yes, sir, we suddenly got warnings of a large mass appearing in the satellites, and when we checked, we found this and started watching the storms as they appeared along with the random mass of land," I say, remembering what happened so far tonight.

I start looking at what the satellites pointed at the landmass are seeing, figuring out why something so significant could appear out of nowhere almost instantly.

"This is astonishing... How is this possible?" My teammate says as he's also looking at the data

"What have you figured out? What is it?" The commander asks my teammate, who seems to have figured something out

"These storms, They're creating a bunch of wind, but none of the clouds are moving at all. In fact, it seems that the landmass itself is spinning slowly. We've never seen an island move on its own in this sense... At least not this big and most certainly not this kind of island," He says with a flame of curiosity.

"Is it possible to explore it? Those conditions seem far too hazardous to explore with a human-crewed vessel sadly, but perhaps we can use some kind of drone." I say, wanting to see what type of land might cause these storms.

"We can attempt to use a modified TORUS (Targeted Observation by Radars and UAS of Supercells, Real-World drone used to study hazardous storms). Commander, do you give permission?"

"Yes, anything as long as we can figure out what this is. The Ocean is confusing enough as it is, and now it's spitting out landmass larger than Australia."

A WEEK LATER

"Remember everyone, we're right outside the storm. Try to get through the storms with the drones and make sure to reach the land. Storm Squad, you are all to analyze the storm as close as you can get to it. Stay as safe as you can but figure out what is causing it. The storms have been going for a week and a half now, so it's definitely necessary to figure out what they are." The Leader of the mission says to everyone as we've finally prepared all that is needed

"Okay, everyone, Launch!!" As soon as The leader said that, all of the drones launched and started heading through the storm.

After a couple of minutes of flying, some of the drone fliers started wondering if there was actually any land in the storm, but suddenly a massive spike of land impaled many of the drones startling those who were flying them. The drones that survived continued onward and eventually found a giant creature made of earth.

"What is that!!!" Everyone who saw it on their drones yelled out, wondering how such a thing can exist

"Didn't this landmass appear a week ago!?" Hugo, My teammate, yelled out

Right after we found it, the monster raised its arms, and suddenly a large earth wall rose out of the ocean and destroyed all of the drones at once. The leader fell down laying position as soon as all of the video cut out and told us to retreat.

"Something like that... It shouldn't exist... How can something like that live? What other monsters could live in that place." The leader said worried about the future of humanity

"I don't know, sir, but we need to figure out what else lives there and what the land is like in general," I then said, hoping to figure out if we can talk to them.

All there is left to do is hope they aren't going to leave this continent of monsters.
