A few minutes after the Arrival, several military vehicles carrying American diplomats appeared at the scene, there were eight SUVs in total and the military vehicles were probably a dozen or so. Compared to what the US could do if they wanted to flex their military prowess this was clearly done to not seem antagonistic. At no point were any guns drawn, or orders shouted. The twenty diplomats stepped out into the Nevada desert and waited in single file. They said nothing to each other they didn’t even look in each others direction. One by one they marched toward the base of the pyramid, when they were within ten feet; the pyramid completed a half rotation. The diplomats stopped walking, still not looking anywhere but straight ahead. Over the course of the next minute every single one of the diplomats would float into the bottom side of the pyramid, the cameras couldn’t catch what was happening except they would step forward, be lifted in the air by some unknown device or force and then disappear. After the final diplomat marched ahead the pyramid rotated back to its original position. If anyone had paid attention to just one of the remaining soldiers on the field they would have noticed that not a single soldier had moved at all while the diplomats marched ahead. They still stood there frozen.
Everything seemed like it happened extremely fast but the live stream showed that about eight minutes had passed from the Arrival to the final rotation. As soon as the final diplomat was abducted/welcomed into the pyramid the live stream feed abruptly ended. Several people around Sam tried finding an alternate source but all of the other feed sources also showed that there was no more live coverage going on.
I guess there are somethings that you just have to see to believe. What else could explain the visceral reaction that occurred to seeing the Arrival of the ship and the interaction with the American diplomats. Most people were calling it a ship, in reality it could have been a million other things, a portal a satellite, shoot it could even be the alien itself, how do we know that they aren’t giant pyramid like structures, nothing can be assumed now, we actually know next to nothing about what our universe holds.
Sam stood there dumbfounded by what he had just witnessed, actually almost everyone at the watch party did not know how to respond. Was humanity officially at war? Did everyone just witness twenty men march to their deaths? Most of the crowd started to realize that they wanted to be with loved ones, a few people started having panic attacks and a few other people stopped to help them deal. Sams phone vibrated, he looked down and he saw one text from his mom. ‘WHERE ARE YOU’
Sam tapped Jackson shoulder he was already writing some large paragraph on reddit “That was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen, I have to run though, thanks for the invite”
Jackson barely acknowledged Sams existence “ya okay man see ya” he went back to writing a mile a minute.
Most people started to leave around the same time, there was a mini traffic jam at the exits of the shopping center. As Sam walked to his car he noticed the woman from earlier. She was sitting on the truckbed on a cooler taking giant swigs from her drink and then immediately open a new can of beer. Her dark hair swung back and forth with each chug it seemed that she was on a mission to disappear her alcohol. Sam was intimidated once again, he hadn’t seen a woman drink like that since college. As he walked past her truck he heard her yell out.
“Hey big boy” Sam stopped walking but didn’t immediately turn around.
“Yeah you, Lord of the Rings nerd” He closed his eyes, and then turned around, she was now standing up on the cooler.
“Come get drunk with me! Here” she threw a can of Keystone Light at Sam, he caught it and walked over to her placing it on the truck bed.
“Im driving home right now and you probably should too plus I'm not 18 years old so why would I get drunk off Keystone” he smiled telling her.
The woman laughed “its not cause I'm cheap, it was the only beer left, everything else got cleaned out, why are you heading home anyway, we are about to become alien chow; Might as well enjoy your last day of freedom while you can” Sam could tell that she was already a bit too drunk to drive home. By this time most of the crowd and cars were cleared out a few people remained and they were walking to their vehicles. He wasn’t sure why but he felt some responsibility for her.
“Whats your name? I never got it” He asked the mysterious woman, who was now working on her third beer in as many minutes.
“my name is Frodo” she said laughing.
“Okay Frodo, I can drop you off at the shire since you have clearly had too much of that high quality lager to drive home” Sam extended his hand to her.
“And would you mind stepping off that cooler before you crack open your head” she slapped his hand away playfully.
“Tell ya what Samwise” she picked up the can that she had thrown earlier to Sam, “if you drink this one beer with me, I will let you take me home” Sam looked at the beer and then at her as she stumbled down from the truck bed. She had a smug smile while she saw him standing there holding the beer in his hand unsure if he was even going to attempt her challenge.
At that moment Sams phone started to ring, he didn’t have to look to know who it was and he didn’t have time to try and wait for this woman to sober up. In one single motion he took one of his keys, jammed it into the bottom of the can, ripped open the tab with his other hand and shotgunned that Keystone light like he was back at Freshman year at the University of Texas. Once finished he threw the empty can into the back of the truck bed the woman looked surprised, her plan was probably to knock out a couple more beers while Sam sipped on his.

“lets go” Sam said.
She lived about 10 minutes away from the meetup location so Sam didn’t have much time to get to know her, but he did learn a couple of things from their drive. Her name was Karen, but due to recent cultural changes she said to call her Kay, that was good because he was starting to feel weird about calling this hot chick Frodo. She was the only other organizer of the arrival meetup to show up. She lived with her mom and brothers all of who were out getting drunk and or high tonight. Sam stopped in front of her home and told her he would wait for her to go inside before driving off.
“Just come inside, the world is ending, fuck it lets have fun!” she winked while she spoke to him.
“Yeah the world `might be ending but either way I want to feel good about myself when I wake up tomorrow so how bout you call me tomorrow when you sober up if you still want to ‘hang out’” he replied and wrote down his number on a small piece of paper and saw her put it in her pocket.
“alright suit yourself, but if your on mars tomorrow on rock cleaning duty then youre gonna regret it…” she walked into her home and he saw almost all the lights come on and music start playing loudly.
‘I hope they have one hour lunch breaks on mars’ he thought to himself and chuckled.
His mom called about four more times during the 20 minute drive back to his moms house, he ignored the first three calls and then wished he hadn’t when he answered the fourth. When he arrived most of his neighbors had their lights on and some were outside talking to each other, something he doesn’t think he ever saw. His moms neighborhood wasn’t one where you got to share sugar with the neighbors, most people kept to themselves and his family was the same way. His mom was too busy hugging him to tear him a new one. That would have to wait for the morning. He went in the house and was planning on getting online but as soon as he sat on the couch and closed his eyes for a second he was out for the night.

If you want to know a persons true nature, give them an emergency. A fire, a car crash, a flood during these events a individual will step up and help, maybe they will get out of the way, and some might just panic. Well, it turns out that most humans are the type to panic.
People were warned ahead of time that this was going to happen, that we were going to be visited by extra terrestrial life, their own elected government confirmed that his was going to happen, since the Announcement they confirmed it about dozens of times a day via press conferences, press releases, live interviews, national security briefings, email blasts, podcasts, snail mail, billboards, and commercials during major sporting events. They may have waited several weeks to tell us but once they did, there was no doubt that they were not bullshitting. Even with all this warning about fifty percent of the people in the US didn’t give a rats ass, as far as they were concerned the Announcement was a giant government conspiracy to do something and depending on who you asked it was a different thing; for some it was to take their guns, force sterilization, mind control, eradicate the poor, steal their land, steal their money, invade China, invade Russia, open the border, socialize healthcare or just to screw them in general, Well guess what percentage of people are freaking the fuck out now.
People immediately started to take to the streets, as if protesting or showing force to the government was going to get the aliens to go back to wherever they came from. The president declared a federal emergency the morning after the arrival. That did not do anything to quell the protestors, criminals started to take advantage of the chaos and the looting started to get out of hand. There were pockets of these things happening already in the last 11 days but they were occurring late at night, now people were doing this in broad daylight. The latest update on the arrival was that there was no further communications received from the Alkanii and the diplomats have not left the ‘ship’, this update did not calm anyones nerves even if it was true which could not be corroborated since the government cut off all live streams of the landing site and the ship itself. The next morning Sam and his family were glued to the TV and internet trying to get any update on the situation like half of America was, while the other half was breaking whatever they could.
“Everyone is here at Moms house, Carm, Vick, Ma and Me how are all of you guys holding up, everybody okay over there?” Sam was using his moms landline which up until now everyone would still make fun of her for having but the cell towers were getting overloaded and calls are getting dropped left and right so her landline was a godsend.
“Everyone is here at my moms too, but we have a small problem which could turn into a bigger one later” Sams cousin Pedro seemed a bit on edge and was talking faster than his usual chill self. He continued.
“Ali only has 2 days worth of insulin left and we couldn’t get her refill yesterday, they said it would be ready today but now her pharmacy got looted and we cant get ahold of anyone at her doctors office to call it in anywhere” Sams heart started to pound a little bit harder after hearing that, he knew how serious his cousin Alis type 1 diabetes could get, over the last 10 years there had been a few scares related to her condition.
“Ah shit” Sam replied.
“What?” Sams Sisters said in unison.
“Alis almost out of insulin, she will be out by end of day tomorrow and they don’t know where to get more right now with all this crap going on” Carm covered her mouth. Vicky started texting someone on her cell.
“So where else do you think we can find some?” Sam asked Pedro. They were going back and forth for a few minutes trying to brainstorm and searching on the internet for any potential sources before Vicky interrupted them.
“I found some!” Vicky said excitedly.
“Where?!” Sam said putting the phone down for a second.
“My teacher Mrs. Peterson said that her sister owns a clinic and I asked her if there was anyway she could help us find insulin for my cousin and she checked with her sister and they said they have some and if we can go pick it up she will give it to us without a prescription.”
Sam grabbed Vickys head more aggressively than he intended to and kissed her forehead, which he immediately regreted due to it being oily.
“Pedro! We found some insulin we just gotta go pick it up” Sam could hear the relief pour into his cousins voice.
“Thank God, where is it?” he asked. Sam looked at Vicky and asked the same.
“Its in Austin just a three hour drive” she replied.
A three hour drive but in the midst of the chaos and curfew well she might as well have said three days.
“Im going to have to come with you” Sam told his cousin.
