Hey there.
Come, sit down for a bit. Yes, just right there is fine too. You can lay down if you want. Sorry that I bothered you at a time like this. I mean, you probably expected something of a great story when you picked me up. I understand, but I’m also sorry at the same time. I mean, you probably didn’t expect that I’ll be talking like this now, do you? I understand. Yeah, very much so.
Still, if you’re here for a story, a short, one-shot one, you came to the right place. Sip a coffee, chew a bread, or something. It’ll be short, and it’ll end before you know it, my friend.
You see, this is a tale of a stupid boy, in his love struck days.
He was fond of a certain girl called Nina. Considerably so. Actually, to be specific, he himself didn’t know whether that was the feeling of love or friendship. He was really confused. Both the boy, whose name was King—literally—and his relationship with Nina extended about five years ago. Like, it was an accidental meeting between the two, and somehow, they were always together. They fought monsters together, PKed other players together, and even banded together to fight inside a Guild War.
Oh, I should mention, that this story is about the boy’s love to someone inside a game. Yes, quite the odd thing, isn’t it? Love makes someone blind, after all. Wonder if the saying is really true?
Anyway, the boy started feeling something for the little girl, Nina, but he was perplexed. Was it really the flowers of love, or was it something else? He didn’t know, but it made him uneasy. He, a boy who had never thought of falling in love, and had always considered it to be a waste of time didn’t know of ways to ascertain it. It only kept on dwindling inside his heart, constantly scratching away at it.
One day, the boy decided to start dropping hints to the girl, Nina. Odd, right? I mean, isn’t it usually the girls that drops hint like bird poops to boys that they like? Such a strange world. Regardless, he first started it by kissing her avatar while she was AFK, unknown whether she was watching or not, but he did it anyway. It was a strange way to drop hints, but on the other hand, it was also a way for the boy confirm of his true feelings, no matter how intrusive it may be to the girl.
However, the boy only did that once, for he felt really guilty for actually doing it.
Days by days passed by, and the girl finally noticed his feelings. Or rather, she replied it in an eccentric way. Nina began kissing the boy instead when he was AFK, and the boy noticed it a few times. Naturally, he felt unbelievably happy. His first love, was not an unrequited one. It was fulfilled. In the end, he decided to confess to the girl, and much to his happiness, she accepted it.
To the boy, it felt like his world was complete. That he had the happiness that he searched for, no matter how temporary it may be. The two would always fight together, farm together and do a lot of other things together. One most noticeable thing of all was that in their free time, they would sit down by a tree outside the game’s village, and simply do nothing but to chatter away at the time. The boy would enjoy those every moments, for every single of them was his first. And truly spoken, all of them were extremely precious to him.

One day, yet another guild war broke out. The leader of the boy’s current guild, Nina herself, had decided to relinquish her title to another member in order to join the war. The war was no simple war. It judged the future of the game, where one side represented those of players from normal guilds, and against those who had always hogged the bosses for real-money trading. A true, despicable act of depravity, I would say.
The boy was a peace lover, and a person that didn’t want to fight another player without his own good reason. But, how could he be so selfish to leave his own lover to fight the battle, and he himself stay in the safety of it all? He couldn’t. The boy himself, who was a tad bit of an exceptional warrior at the time decided to join in the war to assist her. It was just a game, but to the boy, it felt like a second life. One that he had to fight to protect.
And so, the fight begun. Without mercy, players dropped dead here and there, with skirmishes going on throughout the maps of the game. One side would hunt the other without fail, preventing each other from levelling up to become even stronger. There would be spies sent like pigeons thrown in the air, feeding off the information received and sending them back to their side.
In the midst of it all, the boy, King, and the girl, Nina, decided to continue fighting alongside their allies from other guilds. The boy was exhausted, to fight day and night against the opposition, but so long as his own lover stood in the plains of the battlefield, then his legs won’t ever leave her side. Such was how precious the girl was to him. His first love.
One day, the girl decided to share her account with the boy. She wanted to help him on getting new equipment for his newly bought ranger to make it stronger for the war, and at the same time, the boy would help the girl level up his account. A symbiotic relationship between the two. And… at the same time, the beginning of the fall for both of them.
The boy farmed rigorously using the girl’s account, which was a mage and exceptionally strong, much stronger than the boy himself. Things were going good, his ranger still unknown to be the boy on the enemy side, and the war still siding with them.
However, it all ended after one single night.
The girl, mysteriously enough, was unable to login into her account. She asked the boy, and he himself said that he didn’t change the password. She decided to trust him, but, at the same time, a doubt was born in her heart. There was after all, no one else that could access the account of hers. Only the boy. And yet, he said he didn’t do it. Could she really trust him? And if he didn’t do it, what was going to happen now, with the girl without her own mage account?
However, others did not take so kindly against the boy. Most of them believed that he was the one, that scammed the girl of his account, and that he didn’t want to return them. The girl, on the other hand, was quiet, and didn’t know whether to support the boy or not. But, she always said that she believed in the boy, and that was what kept him going on against all those accusations.
The boy, in his own heart, was really scared. He had been a timid little one, who couldn’t do without the support of his friends. But now… all of them had turned against him. His truth meant nothing in their eyes, for to them he was but a lowly scammer. Time passed by, and the boy continued to get mentally oppressed.
One day… the boy disappeared.
He escaped away. Into real life, and left the girl all by herself.
A few months passed by, and a ranger who was known to be used by the boy came online. He left the village as soon as he came, and walked slowly, into a tree that was and would always be in his memory. He could see it, the silhouette of the past times, coiled within his heart so ever strongly, and that it wouldn’t ever leave his side. Those memories of his first love would always stay, and that he couldn’t ever forget them.
After all, it was the final time that he would ever feel it ever again. The sweet feeling of love.
“I’m sorry, Nina…” said the boy.
He sat gently against the tree, and slowly disappeared away into nothingness. His heart was forever gone, and the boy could never feel love ever again.
Thank you for listening to my short lived story. It may have been enjoyable, it may have been not. Sorry if it was rushed, but I felt sort of woozy halfway through, so I had to keep it tight and solid. But doesn’t matter. The fact that you’re here, is appreciated enough. So, what do you thought of it? Was the boy really a scammer, or was there something in play? Perhaps a hacker had gotten access of the girl’s account, from the enemies’ guild?
No one will ever know, for this is but one of the stories I have dug up, from the graves of the past.
If our path may so be well adorned of luck, you may see me again in the future, telling more of these short stories. If you liked it, catch me again if you want to. If not, I apologize and hopefully you won’t see me ever again. With that out of the window, goodbye, my friend.
This story is dedicated to Illusion53, the true name of the account that was lost with its owner, Nina. And the boy, whose name is King, and his ranger, urLastHope. I bid your days in wellness, my friends.
