4. The Race of Chaos

“How many have we now?”

“Currently we have around three thousand Daemons I created myself followed by five thousand Void-spawns that are currently crawling out of the Void. They all are ready to move to your will and enact your wrath upon this realm.”

“The Daemons huh... How capable are they?”

“As Daemons of my fraction they all received the power of pestilence in addition to their chaos powers and became one with it. They will continue to move even when their body completely dissolved and rot down. They will infect other beings with my diseases and slowly corrupt them with chaos, turning them into Daemons. They should also be able to use my self-created magic art, but the level of mastery varies between each Daemon especially since they just have been born.”

“I see. So, we’re not really ready to make a move... But say Pesty what exactly are you?”

“Your humble servant and everything else you want me to be.”

“I meant your race...”

“I’m a Daemon.”

“Hm... But you are greatly different from the rest.”

“That is because you created me as a Daemon-prince. As such I stand at the top of the hierarchy and are by no means comparable to the simple Daemons.”

“I see... Well... It may sound strange from your creator but in what ways are you guys different from the simple demons of hell? As far as I can tell you only have a different magic flow and a chaos soul instead of none.”

“Forgive me. As such a supreme being as yourself it is no wonder that you don’t see a difference in such lowly creatures as us.

But indeed, we are share some similarities with demons especially me and my kin since I myself have been a demon too but after becoming a daemon I changed drastically.

Starting with the most crucial change, I now possess a soul, and are able to perceive emotions in a completely different way than before. I also possess a new magic flow as you noticed and the aspect of pestilence that I embody is now growing stronger with each person that experiences and believes in pestilence, diseases and everything that comes with it.

But the most important difference that divides us from all other races would be that we Daemons are lesser deities. Well, compared to a normal deity it’s very small but we are still "divine" beings. That is thanks to the "divine" chaos energy of yours that floats through any Daemon and marks them as your people.”

“That explains why I feel such a familiar energy from you. But how strong are you right now?”

“Well... Ehm... I... Forgive me my lord but I don’t know. I can’t really gasp my own strength in the moment and have also some difficulties in using my powers since I have to get used to the chaos energy that now floats through my body.”

Azathoth went silent for a moment before he started scratching his head. He then summoned a black book in his hand, “Here.”

“What is that?”

“A small book I wrote when I was testing my powers. It explains how to use chaos energy and how to harness its power. It also contains many chaos spells I invented but some of them require ridiculous amounts of mana so make sure to save some energy if you want to use them.”

“Your kindness towards me is truly too high, I will not disappoint you!”

“Yeah, yeah just make some copies and give them to the other Daemons. What race would you be if you can’t even use your own powers.”

“I will!”, Pestilence announced as he stood up and left his master, ready to learn the secrets of chaos and make them his own.

In the meanwhile, Azathoth threw himself back on his new throne and looked down at the former King of Iselone smiling at him as he saw him curled up in his cage, “Are you sure you still won’t talk? My Daemons may be deities but are still begging me to have you as their next toy.”

The king suddenly twitched as he heard his possible future and looked down to see what happened to his loyal general.

Noticing where the eyes of the king wandered, Azathoth’s smile grew even wider, ”It was a shame. The general refused to talk no matter how much I asked him and made Pesty really angry. Who would’ve known that Pesty would suddenly start to torture him with the most painful kinds of diseases and slowly drive him crazy, making him spill all sorts of secrets you elves had~”

“W-What do you want to know...”

“Everything.”

The king remained silent for a moment before he took another look at his general, changing his mind, “...Fine...”

“Good decision. It would’ve been a shame to see a king such as yourself lose his mind just because of a goddess who has already abandoned you.”, With a smile on his face and a simple jump the deity appeared before the cage and opened it, dragging the King out of his misery to a more secret place.

In the meanwhile, Pestilence was studying the book his beloved master gave him and slowly understood the essence of chaos and how to use it in combination with his powers. His most loyal and closets servants have already gathered around him and watched their master sitting in front a giant pod, creating new deadly and painful diseases that could destroy realms in less than a couple months.

However, much unlike his follower thought at the beginning, Pestilence was very kind in his own way and a person who truly cared for his follower, showing an uncommon love and worry for them while helping them in any ways appropriate for his position. But the most important reason why his follower loved him in return and would do anything to stay connected to their leader, was his blessing to nullify all pain they felt, allowing them to live painless with the diseases that inhabited their body.

As Pestilence looked through his followers he smiled. All were having fun and learned new ways of using their powers making them into a nearly unkillable force. But as Pestilence watched them, he noticed that his master's energy suddenly vanished. At first, he remained calm and extended his magical sense on the entire realm but as his master was still nowhere to be found he stopped stirring his pot and proceeded to stand up only to notice that his master already has returned. He was ready to go and greet him but suddenly felt something sitting on his shoulder. His eyes slowly moved to the spot only to see his creator sitting on his shoulder looking into his pot.

“M-My Lord!”

“Hey Pesty. What are you cooking?”

“Ehm... Well... If you really are interested, I’m currently working on a disease which could slowly destroy a creature from inside out, turning their inside into “Goo" while driving them completely crazy.”

“Really? Sounds interesting. Have you already tested it on some subjects?”

“Some of my followers drank from it but it’s still just a normal disease. I wanted to mix it with chaos energy but have no clue on how to use it to make the disease more Hazardous.”

“In that case... Why not applying the chaos energy to its evolution? That would force it to constantly evolve, making it unable to create a cure for it while making the infected people grow chaos powers as long as they stay infected making them far more dangerous.”

The daemon-prince was at a loss for words as he looked at his master, “Your truly amazing master...”

“Ah... I didn’t do much, you would’ve sooner or later found that out yourself. I just have a better understanding of chaos than you do. If you continue to learn like now, then I’m sure you will surpass even me in making poisons.”

“That sounds like you have made some?”

“Ehm... Well... There were a couple... But they’re not really good, maybe I can show them to you some day.”

“I would be honoured. But say my lord, are you really fine sitting there? I’m not a beautiful chair. I’m sure my skin and flesh must feel--”

“It’s fine.”

“But--”

“Do I have to repeat myself?”

“No...”, With that Pestilence continued to cook his disease while his master remained on his shoulder watching him while thinking about the future.

The Elf king has told me many useful things. Apparently, the humans across all realities have united and call themselves “The Empire” now. They grew pretty strong and are the second most advanced race in Yggdrasil, known for their giant army and powerful Paladins.

They have conquered the entirety of Midgard and all its branches illuminating them with their Saints light, making it unable to get inside without her knowing. Then there are also the seven heroes alongside the three immortal sages and their emperor, the strongest human who’s blessed by heaven itself and given various legendary skills.

They are currently the strongest force and are expanding rapidly with only having the Elves, Deities, Cybrexians and demons as their rivals and potential threat. The angels have taken their side from the beginning but only their emperor managed to make them what they are now.

It’s too bad the King didn’t know more about them, but it is what it is. I should just quickly conquer this realm and start project: “Darkness” before the deities can interfere.
