Chapter 1 - The new begining

Chapter 1 - The new begining

Gerald opened his eyes in a daze and immediately got hit by a splitting headache. If he remembered correctly, he stayed up late playing games last night and fell asleep as soon as he entered the college class today.

"Everyone knows that in this era, star gate technology is the top priority for interstellar navigation. However, star gates can only be built in galaxies with two or more stars, of which in our Empire appears about one-third of all star systems.”

Suddenly, Gerald froze.

The whole classroom was wrong. The table was no longer a wooden table but a pure white one made of metallic alloys. There was also a holographic projection screen in front of each student, and the school uniforms they wore had become more formal in military style.

Gerald reached out to touch the seemingly transparent display screen in front of him. At first, there was actually some tactile sensation, but as he used some force, his whole hand actually passed through.

"Damn..." Gerald’s eyes widened, and he looked around.

He saw a huge floor-to-ceiling window on the side of the classroom, but where previously there was just an ordinary wall, now there was a floor-to-ceiling window, and outside was like a picture from a sci-fi movie with tall skyscrapers and flying vehicles. On the wall of this classroom, there are also several electronic displays, some of which are some kind of fighter plane, and some are some kind of warship...

But they are not naval ships more like interstellar starships!

Gerald was wondering if he was dreaming when suddenly a series of memories began to flood into his mind!

Interstellar Era...

Stellar Empire...

Galaxy Calendar 3030...

North Star Military Academy...

Gerald de Gretz...

Starship navigation and leadership major...

Third Year...

Student...

Gerald grasped his head and groaned in pain.

"Gerald, what's wrong with you!? Are you feeling unwell?" A concerned voice came from the side.

Gerald looked over and saw a boy. Information about him immediately appeared in his mind.

Ahren Ascania... his friend and classmate.

"I'm fine. Maybe I stayed up too late last night." Gerald waved his hand to indicate that he was fine.

He pretended to be calm and pay attention to the class, but his mind began to sort out the current situation and circumstances.

He traveled through time to an interstellar era. This is a military academy in the Stellar Empire. He is a student here, studying the starship navigation and leadership major, and has the hopes of becoming the captain and commander of an interstellar battleship in the future—at least the version of Gerald from this universe did.

Fleet System Binding... Binding Completed...

Host: Gerald de Gretz

At this moment, a mechanical female voice suddenly sounded in his mind along a text in front of his vision.

Congratulations host Gerald de Gretz of becoming the owner of Fleet System!

You have received: Newcomers Package

Curious Gerald thought of opening the package and system immediately responded to his thoughts.

Gerald suddenly gazed into the distance and his mind filled with fog. After time that felt like eternity and an instant at the same time System continued.

Gerald glanced at it and saw the rewards he had just received, but he did not choose any of the options.

Instead, he decided to go through the information one by one. He only had to thought of an explanation.

Profession: ’Starship Engineer’

The host gains an intuitive understanding of any starship technology, including software, physics, materials, and manufacture.

Gives massive boost to any Starship technical drawing comprehension.

Gerald raised his hand and used the holographic computer on the desktop to check some content about starship manufacturing. When he found one research article about the Tier 1 interstellar destroyer, he understood it in an instant and could even draw references from it.

So, I can build a starship myself?!

Gerald thought to himself in surprise.

Points: Exchangeable for goods in the Fleet mall.

System points are provided monthly by the number of active starships owned by the host and completing system tasks and missions.

Progression Points: Exchangeable for goods in the Fleet mall.

Progression points are provided by completing system tasks and missions.

Subtle but definite difference emerged between those two.

Gerald took a look at the so-called fleet mall, which appeared as soon as he thought of it. It contained mainly technical drawings of starships and a smidgen of other goods. All of them, however, belonged to the Tier 1 technology level.

According to the memories of this word Gerald, which he shared his first name with, in this world, technology is divided into Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and so on. The same is true for starships; the higher the level, the stronger the combat power and the more advanced the technology.

So the ‘Tier 3 Light Interstellar Battlecruiser - Winter’ that Gerald was gifted is precious starship technology that isn’t lightly sold on an open marketplace. In fact, Gerald cannot recall if there was even a Tier 1 complete patent and technological drawing sold openly in the last century.

At present, there are more or less twenty types of widely used Tier 3 starships in service of the Stellar Empire.

If others knew that Gerald had a technical drawing of a Tier 3 starship, many eyebrows would be raised. It would be a guilty until proven guilty situation, especially with his current renown of a baron from backward star system, so it is better to hide it for now.

What’s more concerning is that Gerald does not have the resources to build a Tier 3 starship. According to his memories, it would cost at least 10 million star coins worth of materials and related construction costs to build a Tier 3 starship with a current balance of 10 thousand star coins, which is not feasible.

He still had a long way to go to own this starship. As for the quarterly and annual missions displayed on the system interface, it can be inferred that it is a mission that will be automatically formed every three and twelve months, respectively. There will be rewards if completed within the allocated timeframe.

Speaking of the devil.

New Quarterly Mission: Own a Starship

It is to be expected that Fleet system cannot function optimally without a fleet. This is not an easy mission at the moment, however.

What to do...
