"Brace!" Was what echoed throughout this formation, if you could even call it a formation. Large gaps filled with little men with scepters and the larger groups were filled with warriors that looked ready to rush in. Roan was, surprised.

Graceful and guttural chants sounded through the air and walls of seemingly tangible light rose up form out of thin air. Walls of bright yellow, they were somewhat translucent. Where the warriors stood were holes that seemed like a funnel for the monsters. He was right. There formation was a funnel and this wasn't earth. This wasn't something he was familiar with. The laws of physics may apply here somewhat but when magic exists, physics seem to flop out the window.

"Cool." He whispered shortly. It indeed was a cool sight.

There was a wall but then Roan realised that, why would they need him if they already had a sheild. Well, nothing comes without a cost and magic was one hell of a sucker.

Fwoosh, the sound of a viscous liquid shit toward him. Roan saw the green glob lobbed group the air from one of the abomination’s throat. It past through the light like it was nothing and it hit his shield like a bag of water as he fell almost onto the dwarf.

“Deflect!” The dwarf shouted while weaving his hand signs that produced an incandescent glow.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

Roan grunted in confirmation as he got up and thought, “ Parry, all I have to do is parry.”

The fleshy mountains rolled forward as they volleyed more of the poisonous balls of liquid death. Warriors in the other brackets of the funnel formation seemed to use a different type of blue light to block the physical attacks while anticipating the eventual reach of the monsters.

Footsteps approached the duo from behind, Roan turned to look but was rushed by the dwarf for not paying attention to the blob of poison lobbed towards him. He anticipated its trajectory and used his shield to direct it to his right, as there was no one there. The blob forced him back a bit but he felt a sudden rush of energy, he thought it was from one of his passive skills but it seems as if the system usually turns off notifications during battle.

“Sorry I’m late cap’ain!” The voice said.

“About flurbin time Michel, I had to go grab a green horn, what in the hesworth was yah doin’ ?” The captain responded.

“I was layin deep in a graceful pair thank Gurdel very much.” Michel replied while laughing.

He ran to Roan’s side as he deflected about two more globs during their interaction.

“ What’s your name sonny?” The dwarf asked as he shot a fire-bolt to a glob.

Roan was surprised but he still responded, “Roan.”

“Well Roan, I’m gonna enchant your shield real quick so don’t be alarmed,” Michel said before pointing his glowing hands towards Roan’s shield, “Roem inferre speculo.”

Roan’s shield looked as if was being covered by a symbiot made of pure silver, the enchantment seemed to make his shield look like pure glass.

“It’s time to get to work boy!” Michel yelled as he prepared one of those blue shields, “Get to our flanks, we don’t want em blowin’ up behind us.”

Roan looked up as tens of globs flew through the air, today was going to be a long day.
