Prologue

It was midday, yet the city was dark. The clouds covered the sky and the rain pelted the roofs. Some people could be seen walking on the narrow streets, their umbrellas fending off the downpour. Cars occasionally rode through the streets, the drivers anxiously trying to meet their schedule. The rest were in their houses, their heaters heating the roof and the televisions broadcasting the weather of the next few weeks. It was a very casual day.

Beside this city, there was a small mountain. It overlooked the entire city, its green field was being nourished by the rain. The trees also sheltered the animals as they all found their way back to their burrows. Yet there, near the edge of the mountain, a boy could be seen. He looked to be around 15 or 17 years of age. He was wearing a dark brown jacket and brown muddy shorts. His black hair covered his eyes and he was holding a plastic bag on his left hand. The boy suddenly crouched in front of him. There, two tombstone could be seen. Names were written on each one, but they couldn’t be seen from the rain that was pouring down.

“Hey mom, dad. How are you two doing?”

After a short pause, the boy began rummaging through the plastic bag. He took out a piece of bread and placed it on the left tombstone. After that, he also took out what seemed to be a bottle of sparkling grape juice and placed it on the right tombstone. He then sat down in front of the two graves and stared at the one on the left.

“I brought you two something. I know you really liked making bread mum. I managed to get some from our local bakery. I even got your favorite melon bread. I hope you like it”

He then shifted his gaze to the other grave.

“For you dad, I know you really like those expensive wines. I’m not old enough to buy it yet, so I got you some of that fancy non-alcoholic juice. It really tastes great. I hope you like it”

He stopped for a bit as he stared at the sky.

“I can’t believe it’s been 3 years. Time sure goes by fast… you know, I really miss you guys. I can still remember your cooking mom. It was the best ever. Your pastas were also the best. Even dad’s grilled dishes were amazing…”

He stood quiet for a bit. He then went over to the bag and once again reached inside.

“It’s funny how things are right now. The pain, the sadness... I have so many stories to tell you both. That’s why…”

He pulled out a knife out of the bag. Facing the tombstone, he placed the knife above his head, studying it.

“… Wait for me. Mum, dad. I’ll be there to join you guys for dinner tonight”

Stolen novel; please report.

At first, he was hesitant to stab himself. He slowly breathed in and out, each breath seemingly his last. With a resolute shot, the boy brought it to the air and brought the blade to his chest. The knife pierced deeply into him, blood shooting from his mouth.

“I..t… hu…rt…ah…lot…”

“Hehe………hehe…he..he…”

He could barely say anything as his body fell to the floor. Smiling like a child about to receive candy, the blood poured from his chest, but the ground was clean as the rain washed it away. The boy began to lose consciousness, the darkness slowly engulfing him. Slowly, and slowly. Then all of a sudden, a light seemingly engulfs him. With his vision fading, he smiled as he saw two people in his gaze.

“I’m home…”

With that, he breathed his last breath, the rain intensifying as if to mourn for a lost soul.

In the land of Zeriah, there is a forest named the garden of the spirits. Humans, elves, dwarves, demons. None of them dared to enter this forest. It is known that once you set foot, the spirits will drive you insane and take your soul to nourish the forest. Stories then began sprouting about people seeing spirits. Spirits who seemed to manifest into pure creatures of nature. Others claim, they saw demonic spirits. One that is more feared than the Razerok. Yet, more stories of pure divine spirits were told.

In the middle of this very forest, a young spirit was beginning to manifest. At first it was just an orb with a striking blue radiance, but soon, tiny orbs began to gather around it. The orb began to grow and grow. It grew longer and soon, four limbs began to grow from it. In no time, a shape of a wolf could be seen. It had a white belly and flowing grey hair. Its eyes were close, but its snout was very pronounced. Its tail was also bushy and looked very soft. After a few more seconds, it began to breath. Its eyes slowly opened and it soon looked at the surroundings.

The wolf was very confused as it stared at the world around him. Spirits were flying everywhere. Not only that, the forest seemed to glow. The mushrooms glowing yellow and small insects seemed to dance in the air. Other creatures could also be seen, though they were also glowing. Fascinated, the wolf slowly got up, though it quickly fell. It then looked at its legs and once again looked surprised. You could even see that its mouth was hanging open.

What the hell is this?

It quickly found a small pond and was shocked at its own appearance. Why? It’s because, the boy named Laz has turned into a wolf.
