Chapter 7 : The Four Friends

Chapter 7 : The Four Friends

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sneha didn’t attend the lectures after the break. She told Rupesh that she was going home because she wasn’t feeling well. She didn’t want to lie to Rupesh but things had changed between them.

In high school, Rupesh was behind her for 14 months before she accepted him as his boyfriend. He was continuously behind her. Sometimes, so much that it became irritating for her.

Even though many times she liked the constant attention that she was getting from Rupesh, she showed that she wasn’t interested. But Rupesh didn’t back down. He got her number and texted her at least 50 times a day even though she hardly replied to even 5 of them.

Many guys had tried to hit on her but they had all given up after she showed some attitude, but not Rupesh. He was sweet, always made her laugh and he was there for her every time even when she didn’t acknowledge his presence most of the times.

They were in different school but they had met in the park near their home. A friend of hers had introduced them.

Rupesh had asked her phone number on the first day but she didn’t give. Thereafter, whenever she came to the park, she would find Rupesh sitting there. There were only few days when he didn’t come but he wasn’t in town on those days. And Sneha had missed him on these days. She didn’t know why she was missing him but the constant nitpicking of his was something that she had not just became used too, but also cherished them unconsciously.

Rupesh came back and told her that he missed her while he was away and that he wouldn’t have if he had her phone number. They would have remained in contact by phone at least had she given him her number.

Sneha gave him her number and there after, they had grown close. Then one day, she had seen Rupesh talking and laughing with some other girl who was from his school. Somehow, Sneha became jealous of that other girl even though she knew that Rupesh cared for her much more than any other girl.

But the uneasiness didn’t fade away. She started thinking of the times when he is away from her. Rupesh is a handsome guy and many girls hit on him. Her envy outgrew her wit.

The next time Rupesh asked her to become his girlfriend, she accepted. They were happy with each other. But after 3-4 months, Rupesh started acting strangely.

Now, it was Sneha who was sending him 50 texts a day and she was only receiving replies of around 10 of them. Slowly, she was being taken for granted by Rupesh.

She didn’t want to lose him and hence asked Rupesh to join the same college as hers. Rupesh didn’t want to but under her constant pressure by reminding him of those fourteen months, he joined. She swore that she would win him back by being close to him but then on the first day of college, something happened.

They were sitting in the class, talking to each other when a slim boy entered and stood still in the doorway. Frozen by the sight of the person who had his hand in her hand.

’Is he afraid of Rupesh? Why?’

She got to know the reason soon. She was used to getting glances from boys because of her good body and beautiful looks. The boy looked at her in the same way but that didn’t last even for a millisecond it seemed. The boy was more afraid of Rupesh than being aware of the beauty sitting beside Rupesh..

Rupesh went to the boy and slapped him on his head. Undermining the new guy in every possible way. She wanted to save him. She is good natured, she had once scolded two boys in her high school who were bullying a weak guy. But the bully here was Rupesh, her boyfriend.

That day only she had made the resolution of winning Rupesh back so she couldn’t have possibly stopped him. Some words escaped her mouth.

"Hehehe, stop it Rupesh. You shouldn't say that to someone who is frozen at the doorway in fear of you."

’Shit, what did I just say? Why did I do that? Just to impress Rupesh? Why do I like such a bully?’

She went home and prayed to god to forgive her for doing something horrible. She didn’t know anymore whether she wanted Rupesh now or not. She planned to apologize to the new guy the next day but the guy didn’t come at all since that day. No one had seen him.

She considered herself the reason for his absence. She hadn’t forgiven herself for that one mistake that she made. And Rupesh kept getting worse. He wasn’t giving enough attention to her and was even flirting with girls in college. She had thought of living him so many times in these past two months but she didn’t have the courage to face him.

Today was different. The guy who was bullied on the first day came and she got his name when he told his name to the teacher. ‘Rohit’.

There was changes in him. In just 2 months, he now had the body of a handsome guy. It was not only her, all the girls in the class were checking him out.

She had to talk to him, not because he was good looking now, but because she had to apologize to him. She couldn’t do it in class because of Rupesh and she made an excuse to talk to him later but then he was sitting with Dishita the whole time. She was hiding herself by sitting on a table which wasn’t visible from their table because of a pillar between the tables and the distance as they were sitting far away from each other.

She noticed Dishita leave the table while talking on phone and then came back again to just pick up her bag. The moment she left and Rohit was alone, she approached him.

“Hi, my name is Sneha and I think you know me because of my bad behaviour on the first day.”

“Uhh, who are you again? Are you in my class?”

It was clear that Rohit knew her but was pretending. She wouldn’t blame him, after all it was her fault because she had acted cocky on the very first day.

“Umm, I know that you know me and I am here just to apologize for that day. I don’t know why I did that. I wanted to apologize the very next day but you never...”

Rohit stood up and left the cafeteria. His face showed that he was angry at her. It would have been better if he had thrown curses at her or scolded her but not even replying meant he didn’t even consider her worthy of being forgiving even a little bit.

’I wish I could explain things to you but I know that you wouldn’t even stay long enough to greet hello to you. I am sorry, I am really sorry.’

Isaiah was sitting in his room, anxious. He was debating with himself as to whether he should tell Linxx about Worm or not. He wondered if Linxx would even remember about Worm but it was Worm who had said that he would grow stronger than Linxx one day.

Isaiah had laughed at Worm when he declared that he would surpass Linxx one day. Isaiah had talked with Worm on the first day in order to recruit him in Fierce Warrior alliance but the statement given by Worm only resulted in making Linxx mad to the point where Worm was killed by a single strike.

Isaiah had watched Linxx kill Worm with his very own eyes. Ever since that day, Isaiah has been afraid of Linxx but since Linxx trusted him and he was one of the starting members, Linxx had given him the duty to bring in more high level members.

Fearing that he wouldn’t be able to perform his duty well, Isaiah had to use force to make people join the alliance. When invited, 90% of the people felt grateful to be invited to join Fierce Warriors as it was the most powerful alliance in the game, unofficially of course. But there were always some who wouldn’t come willingly and as Isaiah didn’t want to tell Linxx that some people are refusing to join, he would just take a handful of high level soldiers with him and keep killing the refusers until they accept.

He decided that he wouldn’t tell Linxx about Worm, rather he will do something that will impress Linxx. He stared at thin air in front of him.

“Call Karla.”

The call and text system in the game are just as in the real world. In the real world, you need to know the phone number to make a call or send a text but here, you need to be friends with the person you want to contact. After a voice, he heard a beautiful voice of a girl.

“Yes sir?”

“I need 10 level 68 and above players. I am going to find some new people to join our alliance.”

“When will you start?”

“Now, within 15 minutes. I have heard of 4 high level players in a party amongst themselves resting in inn 2.”

“Ok sir, they will be waiting for you at the main gate.”

Rohit came back to his home as he couldn’t possibly have walked back to attend the last two lectures. Coming late once was okay but coming late twice on the same day wouldn’t look good.

He reached home and decided to check forum once before leaving.

As he suspected, there was a topic named “Who is Worm?” He checked it out and read some recent replies on the topic.

I saw the video of the broadcast on Spherical News’ website. Where did they learn of this information? Is it even true?

No way in hell that’s true. They are losing to Colors TV and hence they broadcast such news to keep themselves floating above water instead of going under, which they surely are!

Yeah, I also think that this is bullshit. No one can gain 51 levels in 10 minutes. I am at level 52 now and it took me 2 days or 6 days as per game time to level up from 50 to 51.

There is no video and no one can possibly prove it except the developers of ‘The Sphere’ but since they are not available ‘permanently’, Spherical News is taking advantage of the situation.

He could have been at level 50 for days and no one would have noticed since there are around a million people at that level.

As Rohit read one reply after the other, he kept getting happier. He realised now that he made a mistake by leveling up so fast as he wasn’t ready to show his power to the world. Besides, even his training was incomplete. And deep inside his heart, he knew that Linxx is around 3-4 times more stronger than him.

’Such idiots! Just because they can’t do it, they think that no one can do it. Well, I am glad they think that Spherical News made up all this as there was no proof. But could a news company be really that irresponsible? Which company broadcasts news without facts to back them up? Stupid people!’

Worm logged back in and returned back to Sanderp’s castle on Adalwolf’s back. He had left The Sphere after gaining 51 levels and came back only now to tell Sanderp about it.

Sanderp let them in and looked at Worm.

“What’s your level now?”

“51.”

“That’s good. Eat food now. Show me your stats after that.”

Worm had distributed his level 51 points as 2, 2, 1 towards Strength, Agility and Intelligence.

After Worm was done eating, he washed his plate and went to Sanderp’s study room on the second floor of the castle. Adalwolf followed him.

“I’m done. Would you like to look at the stats now?”

“Yes, show me.”

“Character Window, viewable to master as well.”

[quart=Name,Fame]Worm,0[/quart]

[quart=Level,To Next Level]51,10477/146978[/quart]

[quart=Profession,Title]-,-[/quart]

[quart=Health,Mana]19996,8976[/quart]

[quart=Strength,Agility]182,178[/quart]

[quart=Stamina,Intelligence]61,87[/quart]

[quart=Wisdom,Willpower]33,56[/quart]

[quart=Luck,Focus]24,37[/quart]

Sanderp looked at every stat carefully.

“Umm, you put too much points in Strength and too few in Intelligence. Do you want to choose Warrior as your profession?”

“I don’t know it myself yet.”

“Then why did you distribute most of the points to Strength and Agility?”

“The distribution after every level up would have been kind of irritating. So, I put it on auto mode and it was in a way that most of the points would be distributed to Strength and Agility and few towards Intelligence. I didn’t know what I wanted to choose as my profession, so I chose to distribute some towards Intelligence as well, just in case I would look to get the profession of a magician.”

“Well, I think you are now quite familiar with a spear. What do you think making it as your main weapon instead of a sword or mace or even a bow?”

Worm thought for a little bit before answering. He could feel that this question was a tricky one. If he chose any other weapon, he would lose future training with spear. It’s not that he is perfect with handling a spear, it’s just that he knew there was a lot more to spears than he currently knew about it.

On the other hand, if he chose spear, he would be disadvantaged because, he would only be able to deal fatal blows with the tip of the spear. He answered carefully.

“The range of a spear is longer than sword, that’s good but it won’t be able to cut anyone. I mean, wouldn’t I be at a disadvantage if the enemy manages to close in on me? And the spear could even be cut in half against a sword user.”

“Such naive thoughts. You think that spears are made only of woods? You are wrong. There are metallic spears as well, you idiot. And if you are good enough, no one would be able to close in on you. I figured that you would have known little bit about sword and bow yourself but spear was unknown to you and that’s why I made you use it for all this time. Now, you have to decide. Which weapon is the best for you? We can’t move forward without that.”

Worm was completely blank. He had to choose his weapon and that would decide how he fights in the game later. it would be too difficult to switch weapons in middle. But, why would Sanderp ask him to practice with a spear for four months? He could have given the choice to Worm on the very first day.

The more he thought, the more he got confused. He didn’t know what would be the best answer

to this question. He didn’t even know whether the question was a normal or a special one. He remembered Sanderp once told him that he would be taught in the areas of handling spears, swords and bows, all of them.

But now, he had to make a choice? Why did Sanderp change the training method that he had thought first. With all the thinking, Worm’s face looked like it would explode anytime because of his excessive thinking. Sanderp was enjoying this face of his student.

“Master, I choose spear as my main weapon.”

“Excellent choice. I had actually planned to teach you all weapons a little but that will only make you ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’. It’s better to master one. Anyway, since you must be tired with all the hunting, why don’t you take a rest and we will start with the training tomorrow. Adalwolf, you didn’t fight so your day is not yet over. Come with me. Worm, you go and sleep. Meet me tomorrow at 4 in the morning at the gate.”

’What would he need Adalwolf for?’

*

Isaiah led his men towards inn 2 of Nahur city. He went inside the inn alone and asked the owner of the inn to give a call to Blake who was staying in the hotel. Upon hearing the reason that Blake would be invited to join the guild, the owner had no confusion and did what he was told.

Blake came down alone to talk with the men who had come all the way to talk to him.

Isaiah didn’t say anything and quietly left the inn. Blake followed. When he exited the inn, he saw around 10 men waiting for them. Luckily, attacks aren’t allowed inside a city. Isaiah didn’t stop and kept walking towards the pub. When Blake entered the pub, he saw Isaiah was sitting at a table, alone. He gestured Blake to come sit opposite to him.

“My name is Isaiah and I am the recruit head of Fierce Warriors Guild. May I know your level?”

“It’s 69..”

“Ohh, that’s quite high. I have heard that you hunt in a party of 4. Are they all high level as well?”

“Everyone is above 65.”

“Very good, very good. You would have already assumed why I am here, right? So, would you and the other three like to join our alliance? There are many benefits and we are the strongest as far as strength of alliances is considered.”

“How many members are there in the alliance?”

“A little over 500k. We are ranked 11th with respect to the number of members in the alliance but that’s only because we have level restriction of 60 for anyone to join our alliance.”

Blake’s face showed that he was thinking but he already had made his decision even before he left the inn.

“I am sorry. I refuse the invitation. I just feel that with so many members, we wouldn’t get much attention and the experience during quests and hunting would be very less.”

“Ohh no, you are free to hunt as you want. Alone, party of 4, party of 10, etc. etc. You’ll have very little responsibilities also. As you know that alliances will fight in near future as it happens in all the games, you’ll just have to come when summoned and you’ll be rewarded for that. We are also the richest alliance, you know.”

“Isn’t that because people are asked to donate quite a lot as weekly fee?”

Isaiah clenched his teeth after hearing the rude words coming out of Blake’s mouth.

’This little shit!’.

“People pay willingly. Some even donate more than they are asked to. If someone is unhappy, they can leave whenever they want but no one has left us yet.”

“Ohh, that’s good but I will still have to decline the offer. I appreciate you asking me and my friends to join you though. I shall take my leave now.”

Sweet talking didn’t work on Blake. Isaiah will have to use force.

’These four are quite high level players. Even in our alliance, there are only 1000~2000 players above level 69. Can’t let them go and join any other alliance.’

“Then may I ask which alliance will you four join?”

Blake had stood up to leave. After hearing the question from Isaiah, he sat down again to answer.

“Ohh, we are not going to join any alliance. We four have been together in other games as well and it has always been us 4. So, we don’t plan to join any other alliance. We will be by ourselves.”

Isaiah couldn’t control himself anymore. Sweet talking wasn’t his strong suit anyway.

“Is that so? But you four are good players and I am afraid to say that if you don’t join us, we will keep killing you until all your stats come down to 1.”

Blake knew Isaiah’s nature. Someone had posted about the bullying by Fierce Warriors on the forum but the topic was taken down within 20 minutes. He was one of the very few who knew about it. He remained calm.

“Why are you such an idiot? I knew your method of recruiting all along. So, I came alone. And these ten stupid followers of yours followed us here. Do you really think that those three would still be in the inn?”

Isaiah chuckled when he heard the reply from Blake.

“I am stupid? Hahaha, I think you are the one who is stupid. You are their leader and so you let them escape? But what will happen to you? Aren’t you the one who is stuck alone?”

“What do you mean? Fighting inside the city is not allowed. So, you can’t kill me.”

“We can’t but you can’t stay here forever, can you? We will keep changing the guards who will follow you 24/7 and as soon as you take one step out of the city, you’ll be killed.”

“Well, good luck with that.”

Blake stood up and walked back to inn, enjoying the scene of ten stupid people following him. He had planned everything as how to escape from their grasp. But, they won’t be able to return to Nahur city again.

By this time, Dylan, Eva and Anya wouldn’t be in the city anymore. Blake paid the owner of the inn and left. Wherever he would go, those 10 people followed him. He went to the general store and bought food worth 500 gold. This much bread was enough to last 3 years easily. But he bought spices, some ingredients and other things that are useful in cooking against another 500 gold.

He had quite a lot of money in real life. He had predicted that Fierce Warrior guild members would harass them this time. So, he extended his food storage to infinite by spending 6500 gold. In all, he spent around 7,500 gold. Between the four, the total money spent was around 25,000 gold. They had spent around 25 x 25,000 = 625,000$ of money to buy the necessary items as the rate of exchange was 25$ per gold.

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

This much to run away from Fierce Warriors alliance. Had this game been Roman Empire, they would have levelled up their heroes with the help of gold to the point no one would have been able to break the wall and they would have fused almost infinite rares to obtain the best items for their heroes and rule the server with just the four of them.

But this game wasn’t Roman Empire and they could only obtain such useless things from spending almost infinite amount of money. They need to be stronger themselves instead of depending on money. As they were all high profile actors/actress, they weren’t short of money.

They had to change their names in order to not reveal themselves to the world. But they have been playing with these names since Roman Empire and it wasn’t hard to play The Sphere because they have been working out since forever because of their trainers who just wouldn’t leave them alone.

The useless things bought after spending huge amount of money would help in their survival. They have to make this work. His followers were surprised when they saw him purchasing that much amount of food.

’Is he a son of some famous businessmen?’

They were all happy as they thought that all this would belong to them soon. Blake then entered pet shop and bought a pet. Almost everyone in the game had a pet. The other three must have gotten themselves nice pets. He wondered which pet they all bought but there was no way of knowing as the pet owner gives the selection as per the strength and fame of the customer.

The pet owner welcomed him and was surprised by the Blake’s strength and character. Only Linxx was stronger than this boy amongst all those who have entered his pet shop. He didn’t have any more dragon’s egg but he showed him the pets that would suit him.

After much thought, blake asked the owner whether he had something else and that money was no problem to him.

The owner thought for a moment and the options in the screen in front of Blake changed and now only one pet was available to him. Blake smiled and paid the owner 7000 gold for the pet.

The pet was quite unique. He thanked the owner and left the shop. As he walked out of the pet shop and towards the southern gate of the city, the followers were closing in on him.

The time has come. He will have to bet everything on this one move. He called Dylan and told him to be ready. He told him that within 5 minutes, he will be there.

One of the followers noticed Blake going towards the southern gate and this gave him a chill up his spine. He called Isaiah.

“He is going to the southern gate. We will be killed as well.”

“Are you stupid? He is just bluffing. He knows that no one has crossed the southern gate and arrived at the next city perfectly. He knows that no one has been able to travel more than 20 kilometres in that direction and that’s why he is choosing that path. He thinks that we won’t follow him and after a while, he will probably turn towards east and head in that direction.

Don’t worry, just kill him the moment he exits the gate and come back. That shouldn’t be too hard. After all, you are 10 people and he is alone. Kill him.”

“Okay boss.”

They reached the gate. Just as he was about to exit, Blake turned around and had a look at the followers. They all had their weapons out now.

“Do you all really wanna follow me? You do know that this is the southern gate right?”

“You will be killed as well.”

“Then why do you think I bought all these food supplies? I am not coming back here again. You think I am joking, fine come along.”

He turned around and exited the gate while sprinting. The followers followed him.

The southern exit of Nahur city was filled by trees. However, there was a 10 metre sandy road in the middle. The 10 metre wide gate was connected with this road and on either sides, there were bushes followed by tree.

The moment he crossed the gate, the road just after the gate was suddenly covered with fire. Dylan had poured too much oil on the ground and as soon as Anya saw Blake cross it, she lit the oil with the help of a fire arrow while she kept herself hidden on a tree which was 50 metres away from the gate.

The arrow was shot at the extreme end of the road where bushes were there. The arrow was hidden by the bushes but the oil caught fire instantly.

Two of the followers who were just behind Blake were caught in the fire and they will be dead soon due to burns.

Eight remained.

A magician then used water magic and doused the fire. The eight followed and saw Blake at a distance of around 50 metres from them. Hardly 120 seconds had passed since Blake had exited the gate and two of the followers were already dead now. To make the matters worse, there was now a 50 metres distance between them.

They started running towards him and the first follower fell in a deep hole that was hidden in the ground. The sound of his body hitting the floor came after 10 whole seconds. There was no way that he could have survived the fall.

Seven remained.

After noticing simple things which he had ignored before, the magician who had doused the fire, yelled at the top of his lungs.

“Wait, he is not alone. The other three were here to ambush us. Traps are everywhere. Don’t...”

Before he could finish his sentence, an arrow entered his mouth and lodged itself in his skull. The site was terrifying. The other followers looked in the direction from where the arrow came, but there was no one.

Six remained.

Death of 4 of their teammates within an instant surprised the remaining followers. They were all high level players. One strike shouldn’t kill them but it was a single arrow. No doubt, the hit was at least double critical, but to kill him, the arrow’s speed must have been unimaginable. This wasn’t some normal archer they were facing. Moreover, the arrow was shot from a distance where the archer wasn’t visible.

The thought of such an archer gave them chills. Fear froze them. Their feet was stuck on the ground as if they were bolted with the help of a nail. Sweat could be seen on their foreheads.

They looked in the direction where Blake had run off to. The distance between them had decreased somehow even if they just standing. Then, they noticed it. Blake wasn’t running away from them anymore, he was running towards them with a sword in his hand.

’He is rushing towards us alone? He plans to fight alone with the six of us.’

There was only one magician left now. He got pissed at the thought that Blake was running towards them instead of running away from them. He lifted his staff and three fire bolts were shot towards Blake.

Blake saw the firebolts, but didn’t stop. He didn’t even try to dodge them. Instead, he ran straight towards the bolts. The moment he was about to be hit, he felt a strong layer of aura covering him. The bolts hit him but didn’t do a single damage. Luckily for him, the bolts didn’t hit the same place. Had they hit him in the same place, the aura wouldn’t have been able to protect him this much and he would have suffered some damage.

The level of the fire bolts wasn’t as high as the defensive aura cast on him by Eva. Even though Eva looks and acts like she is weak, she is pretty reliable in such situations. She casted the aura at the perfect time on him. She must be at least 100 metres away from him yet she correctly predicted the time Blake would be hit by the bolts and protected him just milliseconds before he was hit by them.

That required a lot of concentration and the distance made her aura weaker. She was afraid that she might not be able to cast a strong aura barrier to absorb the bolts but they absorbed the bolts no matter what. Satisfied, she buffed the Blake and Dylan’s attack power by almost 30% for the next 5 minutes. She could have buffed the power by 50% for 30 minutes but the distance affected her power too much.

Instead of buffing them for more time with less power, she figured buffing them up with more power for lesser time would be much more useful. With all her mana exhausted, she fell down on one knee and kept herself hidden behind a tree.

The magician who had fired the firebolts couldn’t believe that blake wasn’t affected by the firebolts. Now, Blake was hardly 20 metres away from them. Then he saw it, Blake had an armor around him that wasn’t present earlier. But just armor couldn’t be this much affective. The armor was a normal iron armor.

As Blake neared them and was 15 metres away from them, the magician noticed a thin silver aura surrounding his entire body.

’Shit, they have a magician too.’

He looked to his right and left but couldn’t see anyone. The trees were too thin to hide anyone near the roads. The trees that could hide even a slim person, was at least 40 meters away on either side.

’What the hell? An aura barrier from 40 metres away strong enough to absorb my beginner level 5 firebolt that does at least 1080 damage? Who in the world is that magician and why don’t I know about such a person?’

Blake was now 8 metres away from them. Luckily, there wasn’t any archer in the follower’s team. Hence, he was able to run at them without much problem. At that instant, he heard Anya’s voice in the conference call that they were in since the start of the fight.

“Blake, duck when I ask you to...now!”

He didn’t have the time to slow down his pace and duck, so he rolled on the ground while moving forward. The second, his head went down when he started the rolling motion, two arrows, one slightly behind the other, passed over his rolling body and without giving the magician any chance to cast a protective spell, the arrows pierced both his eyes. He was killed, instantly.

Five remained.

Before the five could grasp the situation and figure out what had just happened, they saw Blake hardly 3 metres away from them, his sword raised and he was charging at them like a bull when he sees someone teasing him with a red cloth.

The five warriors raised their weapons to deal with him and they moved so as to spread out nicely and hit Blake at the same time. Blake didn’t even look at the two swordsmen in front of him and attacked the one at the right of him with all his might. The attack was at the place where there wasn’t any armor guarding the man wielding an axe.

“Head Chop.”

With the running and jumping force, the attack would have been critical. The buff from Eva made his attack double critical and the person who received the blow of the sword at his neck, was decapitated.

When Blake had jumped and was still in the air, all the people present there heard something. But it was only clear to the two swordsmen who were directly facing Blake and the other members who were in the conference call. It was Dylan’s voice.

“Double Stab.”

Dylan kept himself hidden behind the gate ever since he poured the oil. The followers all ran behind Blake and didn’t even care to look behind once. Had they done so, they would have noticed Dylan crouching behind the pillar. He would have been spotted easily.

He had waited for the perfect opportunity. He was behind them and no one knew about him. He timed his ‘Silent Run’ perfectly so as to attack the followers at the same time Blake reaches them. It hadn’t taken them too long to figure out that running and jumping adds almost 200% damage to their attack. The moment Blake jumped, Dylan jumped too and aimed the two swords, one in each hand, at the neck of the two swordsmen who were directly in front of them.

“Double Stab.”

Both their necks were pierced. They were dead before seeing the face of the person who killed them. Blake had killed one while Dylan had killed two almost simultaneously.

Two remained.

The first warrior on the left hand side of Blake had enough room to pierce his stomach while Blake was chopping the head of another warrior. The head was chopped but Blake also got injured the second he landed on the ground, when a sword pierced his armor and slightly went inside his back a little. It was thanks to his high strength, his armor and Eva’s protective barrier that he wasn’t critically injured.

Blake let go of his sword, moved forward until the sword come out of his back and in one quick motion, turned 180 degrees, lunged forward and grabbed the man who had injured him.

He turned himself and now the man’s back was toward the direction from which Blake came back to attack them.

Anya understood and let loose two more arrows from her bow. The first arrow pierced the neck and the second pierced the heart of the man who was being held at one place by Blake.

One remained.

During all this time, the second warrior noticed his two fellow swordsmen getting killed by swords that had perforated their necks. One of them was his brother. He didn’t care about Blake anymore and wanted to avenge his little brother. He swung his sword at Dylan but he wasn’t quick enough.

Dylan had already removed his swords from the necks of the two swordsmen. He used the sword in his left hand to block the incoming attack and with the other sword, slashed the arm of the person, that(arm) was wielding the sword, with such force that had this slash was done in real life, the arm would have cut off cleanly. But this was a game so instead of the arm coming off, the force made the person let go of the sword that he was holding.

Without any weapon, the person had no choice but to accept his death. Dylan was about to stab him when Blake stopped him. Blake looked at the person with a threatening glare.

“Go and tell your boss not to mess with us again. Ohh wait, tell him that he can come after us in the southern plains and I will be happy to kill you all again. Now, you can leave.”

The person didn’t know whether he should attack them for the death of his brother or leave quietly since he had the chance to do so but then he remembered that this is a game and his little brother would be revived once again soon. He nodded and started walking towards the gate.

Dylan looked at Blake’s injury which was nothing serious but was still reducing 10 health every second.

“You do know that he will be revived soon and he can tell that through their website and mail as well until he is revived, right?”

Blake didn’t know why he had done something that was his stupid. He looked at Dylan and then looked at the ground.

“I forgot.”

Dylan was surprised by his answer but didn’t dwell on it much because Blake then looked at the direction where Anya was and with a raised hand, he pointed towards the person who was just 3 meters away from the gate

When the person was just about to enter the gate, an arrow stuck his neck from behind and he fell down, dead, even though half of his body was inside the gate now due to falling face first.

All the dead bodies disappeared and Eva came running out the trees towards Blake and Dylan. Anya followed her quietly. Eva had tears rolling down her face when she saw Blake’s injury. It wasn’t that she cared more about Blake and less about others or Blake was somehow special to her, it was more like she cared too much about every little stuff.

Dylan saw the Eva getting teary.

“Shit! Anya, stay there. It’s gonna get flooded here. Eva’s waterworks has started. Save me god. Please, save meee.”

Eva pouted her face in anger. With tears on a puted face, she looked even cuter. Even as an actress, she was extremely sensitive towards everyone.

Anya came and hit Dylan on his head with her bow.

“Stop teasing her Dylan and Eva, heal Blake’s wound.”

Eva had regained some of her mana and it was enough to heal Blake. Blake looked at his friends and smiled.

“That was pretty easy, wasn’t it?”

Eva shook her head.

“Easy? They were all high level players and you got injured.”

“Well, I think they won’t come after us in the southern plains.”

Anya looked at the horizon.

“I wonder how far away is the next city and forums said that there are level 100+ Gnolls living here who always attack in groups of 5-6 at the very minimum. If we die, we will be resurrected in Nahur city and we will have to face Fierce Warriors again.”

Blake had thought this through.

“Don’t worry! We will turn towards the west. We will get stronger in the dungeons and there are many wolves there who hunt in groups. We will train there for a year or two and then we will come back here and our next city will be in the southern direction only.”

Dylan was surprised.

“What?? 1-2 years training? Have you gone mad? We will never get to enjoy the game. What if the game finishes in that time?”

“The broadcast said that at the very minimum, it would take 7-10 years to finish the game. That is 21 game years at the very minimum. So, getting a little stronger in a year or two will help us enjoy the game more in the future. Besides, we have to make our pets stronger as well, right?”

Their eyes showed excitement when the word ‘pet’ was mentioned. Blake suggested to call upon their pets and they all agreed.

“Summon...”

“Summon...”

“Summon...”

“Summon...”

Nihali has been Dishita’s friend for 2 years now and hence, knew almost everything about her. Initially, Dishita was always happy but as time passed and she started maturing, she got more depressed because of her looks. All teens care about the way they look. Some of them are blessed with good looks, others aren’t that lucky.

Dishita used to share all the things with her but recently, Nihali felt like Dishita was keeping things from her. She didn’t pressure her by asking what she’s keeping from her because she didn’t want to make Dishita more unamiable than she already is. But the tone of Dishita’s voice when she got in the car was surprising. She was actually angry. Nihali was pissed as she had never expected that Dishita would be rude to her.

‘Your friend?! Hahaha, don’t make me laugh. Aren’t you his friend because he has a copy of the Sphere? I remember you telling me that you befriended someone who plays The Sphere two months ago. This obsession of yours with the game is scary.’

She remembered how Dishita used to talk about Linxx all the time when people started seeing him as a prodigy due to the broadcasts. Like countless other girls, Dishita too got charmed by his good looks and his strength. Dishita made her watch Linxx’s broadcasts by force. She had no choice but to sit with her and watch the broadcast in which a handsome guy slays wolves using his supernatural strength and skills. Anyone would be charmed by such a display of strength, but not her.

She would have liked him, had she not heard about him so much from Dishita already. She knew that Dishita was infatuated by Linxx. To the point that she could hardly see anything else. Dishita didn’t have anyone else whom she could call her friend. It wasn’t that people wouldn’t accept her as a friend. In fact, she had many people that were her friends but she hated everyone of them. No one was her actual friend.

It was all Dishita’s fault. She began keeping her thoughts to herself suddenly. She didn’t want to discuss anything with her friends because she thought that would make them uncomfortable. After a while, she had no one to talk to. The little she talked, Nihali was always the one to listen to her. Nihali knew all too well that Dishita wasn’t interested in making a friend.

’She cannot possibly like this new guy because she is already infatuated by Linxx. Then why is she trying to get close to this new ‘friend’?’
